Farmers Market Wayville "IndyWatch Feed Allaunews"

Adelaide families now have the opportunity buy fresh food directly from producers from all over SA at the Adelaide Showground Farmers Market. The 20,000 strong crowd that turned up for the farmers market which formed the centrepiece of the 'Go Organic Festival' in September in 2005 encouraged the Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society (RAHS) to back the foundation of a permanent farmers market by a not-for-profit community organisation. The market opened on October 1st 2006 with a massive crowd of 10,000 shoppers and runs each Sunday (apart from the weeks of the Royal Show) from 9am-1pm.

In the tradition of farmers markets, it is a food market at which both food producers and consumers can get a fair price for food produced in SA and support regional and sustainable land use. The market guarantees that you buy direct from the producer and is known for its strict adherence to the ethics of farmers markets which now number in their thousands worldwide as families seek to avoid overstored food from major retailers who pass on meagre prices to farmers. In Australia, the farmers market movement is represented by the Australian Farmers Market Association and SA's peak body, the SA Farmers Market Association, will soon be launched.

The Adelaide Showground location is superb, with a major bike trail, the Glenelg tram line, a major rail line, numerous bus routes all converging to make it one of the most accessible sites in Adelaide. Parking is also easy and cheap.

120 producers offer their extraordinarily diverse products (everything from oysters to almonds and bread to boysenberries!). It is accessed from the car parks at the Leader Street (southern) end of the Showgrounds.

Becoming a member brings with it 10% discount on all purchases as well as a right to vote in the management of the market. Details and memberships are available at www.adelaidefarmersmarket.com.au.

The Food Forest is a foundation stallholder at the market and presents a wide range of foods, always including its signature specialty - organically certified pistachio nuts. We are there on alternate weeks (we run short courses on the other weekends).

Risk assessment: The first step in improving cyber security "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Despite the proliferation of high profile cyber-attacks over the last 18 months, many organisations are still too disorganised in their approach to security. While it is no longer feasible to guarantee 100% protection against a breach, businesses are setting themselves up for a fall by failing to adequately understand and prepare for the risks facing them. PwCs 2018 Information Security Survey, which surveyed more than 9,000 business and technology executives around the world, found that More

BUSTED: Leaked Documents Prove Trump Took Laundered Money From Russian Bank "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Convincing President Trump to release his tax returns is proving slightly more difficult than we initially anticipated, but that doesnt mean there havent been any signs of success from taking the longer route. Take, for example, a 98-page document recently released by the United States Office of Government Ethics.

The document, available in its entirety here, clearly shows that not only is Donald Trump outright profiting from the presidency, a direct violation of the Emoluments Clause of the United States Constitution but also that he is in debt to several banks, both domestic and foreign.

Although shocking news, none of this particularly comes as a surprise, more or less just confirms what most of us already suspected. However, its when you delve into the details that you discover the true significance of the Presidents possible under-the-table actions.

German-based Deutsche Bank was served with $630 million in penalties back in January for a $10 billion Russian money laundering scheme involving its Moscow and New York branches among others. Deutsche Bank also gave Trump four questionable long-term loans, potentially Russian money thats been handed to Trump, the final loan given just before the commencement of the presidential election and used to help fund the Trump International Hotel that opened in Washington DC last year.

Obviously, this interaction between Trump and Deutsche Bank should raise more than just a few red flags, at least confirming that there is a possibility that the Russians laundered money to Trump as he began his campaign and just prior to hiring senior advisors with ties to the Russian government.

Furthermore, Deutsche Bank is gaining somewhat of a reputation for their shady business dealings as well. Not only were they caught in the Russian laundering scheme, the bank also struck a $7.2 billion deal with the US government last December to...

SURPRISE! Senator Dianne Feinstein & Dems Introduce Bill to BAN HUNDREDS of GUNS in America "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Democrats are coming for your guns. And they arent making many exceptions.

Seriously, its true. California senator Dianne Feinstein just released a gun control bill. And, boy, is it a doozy.

Check it out:

From the Washington Examiner:

The bill sponsored by Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., and other Senate Democrats would make it illegal to sell more than 200 types of semi-automatic weapons as well as magazines holding more than ten rounds of ammunition. The proposal would also ban devices that ramp up firing speed, such as the bump stock used in the Las Vegas shooting last month.

Theres wrongheaded legislation, and theres just wrong legislation. The Feinstein bill is an example of the latter. Just from the looks of it, the bill would ban a huge number of guns on the market, without little exception.

Trans-Pacific Follies: Australia Asleep as Canada Wakes Up "IndyWatch Feed Allaunews"

It was as dreary as listening to the formulaic assessments of political economy by an unreconstructed Leninist.  But Sunday morning with Steve Ciobo, Australias trade minister, was such an occasion.

The Trans-Pacific Partnership, withering away on the branch of false optimism, has been an instrument of deserved suspicion and opprobrium from popular movements across countries suspicious about the paternalistic follies of their governments.  It was precisely opposition to such a proposed agreement, negotiated in total secrecy away from the prying eyes of public interest groups, that fuelled the campaigns of Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump during the 2016 US presidential elections.

Even Hillary Clinton, whose husband was a vital figure behind initiating the North American Free Trade Agreement during the 1990s, began to chew some of the anti-free trade cud close to her ignominious defeat.

No free trade faith quite matches the monomania of Australian governments.  Since the 1980s, liberalising and opening the economy has been an unshakeable trajectory, a punishing, stripping dogma that insists that being economically open is liberally good, and closed, parochially bad.

While other states have wised up to the idea that total openness is a recipe for local instability, estrangement, and disaster, the Australian response has been unshakeable: keep borders open and corporations content, except when it comes to refugees who arrive by boat.  As Australian Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull has insisted with staid predictability, the TPP creates rules of the road to match the new economic world in which were living.

For all this, Australias own industries have been supplanted.  Energy and banking oligopolies have been given free rein to operate.  Property prices in Sydney and Melbourne are reaching stratospheric heights, and the current government is promising to partly subsidise what will become one of the worlds largest, and environmentally destructive, of white elephants: the Carmichael coal mine in Queensland.

Most telling of all is that the free traders have no interest in considering data of such irrefutable weight it should put an end to that unfortunately lingering religion.  The US-Australian Free Trade agreement remains a matter of considerable loss to Australia, limiting rather than extending markets and access to Australian producers, and showing the countrys diplomatic crew as inept, ill-informed and, in the final analysis, sycophantic.

None of these points concern the bemused Ciobo. Ideology has already set the tone in this field. When the United States announced, through President Donald J. Trump, that it would have no truck with the TPP, the Australian delegation was left baffled but unmoved.  The remaining states would keep the ship steady.

KABOOM! Massive explosion at main Bahrain oil pipeline - Saudi quisling immediately blames Iran for 'terrorist sabotage' (VIDEOS) "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

The Kingdom of Bahrain has claimed that Friday's explosion on the only pipeline that supplies oil from Saudi Arabia was somehow linked to Iran, opening a new chapter of hostilities between Tehran and the Sunni Gulf states. "The incident was an act of sabotage and a dangerous act of terrorism aimed at harming the higher interests of the nation and the safety of the people," read a statement from Bahrain's interior ministry. "Terrorist acts witnessed by the country in the recent period are carried out through direct contacts and instructions from Iran," the statement claimed. Comment: This is the Bahrainian equivalent of 'Russia did it': the truth is, Bahrain's Sunni minority has been desperately clinging to power since the Arab Spring in 2011. All all the regimes that should have toppled, this is one of them, and it survived thanks only to massive US military support. While Bahrain often blames Iran for backing an insurgency that has plagued the country after authorities suppressed the so-called Arab Spring protests in 2011, Tehran has repeatedly denied any involvement. It also says that it is not behind the latest incident.

Facebook's Billionaire Immortal Overlords, 1885 "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

- Jeevy Computers: Move up to business-level computer protection. 800-844-8613 http://jeevycomputers.com/pcs/ Good evening, Im still reporting on: Facebook's Billionaire Immortal Overlords, 1885 Synopsis: Good evening, Im still reporting on Big Brother. Sorry, but Ive been on travel for the last 4 days. Have you ever wondered how all the social media titans can be so far left of center that supporting simple, self-governance by we, the people is today seen as an outmoded and destructive cultural fad of the days of yore? Academically, my knee-jerk response was control. Control of the population means maximum profits for them, and some form of slavery for us. I mean, the rule of law was not built for the uber-rich; it was created to protect we, the little people from the tyranny of the uber-rich. The entire concept of representative governance is now threatened by media-approved creations like Antifa and the Deep State ministry of propaganda better known as the NYT, WaPo, CNN-MSNBC axis. Not since the Robber Barrons ruled the East Coast over a century ago, has the rule of law been so completely disregarded as has been the case since the Clintons, Bushs and Obamas came to the Beltway. But understanding how they thought was no more than a theory, unbacked by hard evidence until a few days ago. Last Thursday, the mindset of these noveau-riche, tech-titans was put on shocking display by Tucker Carlson: [insert] For me that answers a lot of questions. Hundreds of officers lose licenses over sex misconduct "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

In a yearlong investigation of sexual misconduct by U.S. law enforcement, The Associated Press uncovered about 1,000 officers who lost their badges in a six-year period for rape, sodomy and other sexual assault; sex crimes that included possession of child pornography; or sexual misconduct such as propositioning citizens. The number is unquestionably an undercount because it represents only those officers whose licenses to work in law enforcement were revoked, and not all states take such action. California and New York ... offered no records because they have no statewide system to decertify officers for misconduct. And even among states that provided records, some reported no officers removed for sexual misdeeds even though cases were identified via news stories or court records. Victims of sexual violence at the hands of officers know the power their attackers have, and so the trauma can carry an especially crippling fear. Jackie Simmons said she found it too daunting to bring her accusation to another police officer after being raped by a cop in 1998 while visiting Kansas for a wedding. So, like most victims of rape, she never filed a report. Diane Wetendorf, a retired counselor who started a support group in Chicago for victims of officers, said most of the women she counseled never reported their crimes - and many who did regretted it. She saw women whose homes came under surveillance and whose children were intimidated by police. Fellow officers, she said, refused to turn on one another when questioned.

Could banana plants solve India's sanitary pad problem? "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Kristin Kagetsu left the United States in 2014 with an idea: to bring sanitary pads to India. The 27-year-old MIT graduate co-founded Saathi Pads - a health care startup that produces biodegradable sanitary pads made of banana fibers. According to a 2011 study ... only 12% of Indian women use sanitary pads during menstruation. Tampons, menstrual cups and reusable pads are practically unheard of, except in elite circles. Affordability is the key factor preventing many women from using sanitary pads. For lower income families, they can be a luxury. Saathi Pads said it plans to sell its product ... online and in urban areas but will distribute them for free in rural areas, or at heavily subsidized rates. The lack of proper feminine hygiene and sanitation facilities can affect women's productivity at work and in school. More than 30% of girls interviewed in northern India dropped out of school after they started menstruation. Kagetsu and her co-founders ... decided to manufacture their own compostable sanitary pads using banana fibers, a byproduct of fruit production. The pads Saathi produces are biodegradable and can be upcycled to compost or biogas after use. The company claims its production process is completely chemical and plastic free. The company's purchase of agri-waste material also helps provide banana growers with additional income.

People Have Become A Sort of Radioactive Waste: Mayak Is Everywhere "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Mayak is everywhere. Rosatom may be polluting a Mayak near you: by reprocessing spent nuclear fuel from your nearby nuclear power station, by building a nuclear power station that will later send its spent fuel to Russia for reprocessing, or by loading your neighbouring nuclear plant with reprocessed uranium fuel from Mayak. Rosatoms operation in Mayak illustrates that the nuclear industry is not interested in people. After all, 60 years since the disaster the people around Mayak are a sort of radioactive waste. http://www.greenpeace.org/international/en/news/Blogs/nuclear-reaction/Mayak-anniversary-radioactive-waste-rosatom/blog/60344 Not just in Russia, but Russias loves to broadcast the problems in the US and elsewhere, whereas Greenpeace and Bellona are among the few who raise the alarm about Russia. Rosatom is owned by the Russian government and answers to President Putin.

From Greenpeace: People have become a sort of radioactive waste.

Those words were spoken to me by the Russian human rights lawyer, Nadezhda Kutepova. For years she, with her NGO, Planet of Hopes, defended people who suffer in one of the most radioactively polluted places on this planet: the area surrounding the nuclear waste and reprocessing complex, Mayak, in Russias Southern Urals. Kutepova continues to stand up for her people from Paris where she has been exiled to because she was no longer safe in her home town. Skepticon rejects Bolingbrooks bid to host 2018 convention (Fiction) "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Despite secret lobbying efforts from the Bolingbrook Chamber of Commerce, Skepticon officially chose St. Louis as their new host city.

We are disappointed in Skepticons choice, said a source within the Chamber.  We feel that we had a competitive bid, and we feel that Bolingbrook is a great site for any convention.

Skepticon, which describes itself as The largest free skeptic conference in the nation, and possibly the universe, is known for its coverage of both skeptical and social justice issues.  Sources within the Chamber say that winning the Skepticon bid could have been a big boost to tourism in Bolingbrook.

Sure, Skepticon is filled with so-called social justice activists, said another source.  But they would have been our social justice activists, and even the most die-hard social justice activists need to spend money on food and hotels.  We could have made huge profits if wed gotten this convention.  Just look at what it did for Springfield, MO.

Sources within the Skepticon organization said they were flattered by Bolingbrooks bid, but never seriously considered it.

One source, who asked to be called Rose, explained the reasons: Most of us live in Missouri, so Bolingbrook is too far away for us.  Plus, most of the venues in Bolingbrook are too small for us.  The only place that we could hold it in was the Bolingbrook Golf Club, and even the discounted price was too much for us.

The sources said they appreciated Bolingbrooks efforts to make new homes accessible for people with disabilities, but cited other problems with Bolingbrook.  Among them were: a lack of public transportation options from both Chicago airports; a lack of sidewalks in Bolingbrook; and the distance between hotels and nearby restaurants.

Another source, who asked to be called Steve, had harsher words for Bolingbrook:  We could not, in good conscience, go to Bolingbrook. Its mayor not only endorsed Trump but raised money for him as well.  We dont expect our host mayors to be perfect, but (Mayor Roger Claar) is too far from perfect for us to move Skepticon to his community.

Publicly, Skepticon denied ever receiving a bid from the Bolingbrook Chamber:  We have no record of such a bid, and were skeptic...

Syrian Army Resumes Operation Against ISIS South Of Mayadin, East Of Sukhna-Deir Ezzor Highway (Map) "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the National Defense Forces (NDF), led by the Tiger Forces, have resumed their operations against ISIS near Mayadin city. According to pro-government sources, government troops have passed about 30km southeast of it. The SAA and the NDF have also advanced against ISIS and reached the settlements of Bir Duhul and Al-Duhul.

The SAA and the NDF faced little ISIS resistance during their advance because a major part of ISIS members had withdrawn from the desert area. ISIS is now focusing in clashing with government troops in al-Bukamal.

The government advance will put an additional pressure on ISIS members in the border area and would contribute to a joint effort of the SAA and Hezbollah to secure al-Bukamal.

Special counsel Robert Mueller's team has questioned Sam Clovis, co-chairman of President Donald Trump's election campaign, to determine if Trump or top aides knew of the extent of the campaign team's contacts with Russia, two sources familiar with the investigation said on Friday. "The ultimate question Mueller is after is whether candidate Trump and then President-elect Trump knew of the discussions going on with Russia, and who approved or even directed them," said one source. Anti-Immigration Youths Receive Para-Military Training "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Young, right-wing European youths are reportedly attending military-style training camps in France, according to Newsweek magazine, which based its report on a newly-released documentary by Britains ITV.

Members of the anti-immigration UK Independent Party also reportedly attended the training camps.

The youth are part of a pan-European movement called Generation Identitaire (Generation Identity) and are dedicated to preserving what they term the ethno-cultural identity of Europe. The group opposes multiculturalism, mass immigration and the Islamization of Europe, according to its talking points.

Although it says its dedicated to non-violence, reporters from ITV who infiltrated the group claim members bragged about receiving para-military training at the camps for two hours a day.

It was really good, one of the trainees allegedly said. We had like a mock demonstration. It was like really realistic because they had like pepper spray, everything. It was really organized.

Members of the group criticized the documentary, calling it fake news and saying that remarks from members were taken out of context.

In a video (see below) responding to the documentary, founder of the group, Martin Sellner, a 28-year-old student activist from Austria, states the group has no secret agenda.

Sellner says the press likes to paint the group as a white supremacist organization, literally Hitler in disguise, yet he claims that the group is not fighting against a certain group of people but against a system. [We] are not advocating a genocidal or people-hating ideology.

NEW DELHI (Reuters) A thick cloud of toxic smog 10 times the recommended limit enveloped Indias capital, New Delhi, on Monday, as government officials struggled to tackle a public health crisis that is well into its second week.

A U.S. embassy measure showed levels of poisonous airborne particles, known as PM 2.5, had reached 498 on Monday afternoon, compared with the upper limit of good quality air at 50.

Indias weather office said rain was forecast over the next three days which could help clear the smog.

Light rainfall is likely in states surrounding Delhi and in Delhi over the next three days, and this could result in a change in wind pattern in the region, Charan Singh, a scientist at India Meteorological Department, told Reuters.

Smog will start to abate starting tomorrow.

But Skymet, Indias only private weather forecaster, said dense smog would continue over Delhi and the surrounding area for at least the next two days.

The Supreme Court is due to hear a petition filed by a New Delhi lawyer to direct government authorities to tackle the intolerable and unbearable air pollution.

The Delhi state government declared a public health emergency last week after pollution levels spiked, a yearly phenomenon blamed on a combination of illegal crop burning in northern states, vehicle exhaust and dust.

Over the weekend, authorities began using fire trucks to spray water in parts of the capital to keep the dust and other air particles down, but it has had little effect.

A senior federal government official said there was little more that could be done.

We can only do this much, and now we will have to wait for rains to clean the atmosphere, said Prashant Gargava, an official at the Central Pollution Control Board.

Bill Gates purchases Arizona land to build future smart city "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Bill Gates is developing the City of the Future in Arizona

Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft, has chosen Arizona to build his future smart city by purchasing a plot of 25,000 acres of land in the south western region of the United States.

The area, which is a 45-minutes drive from west of Phoenix in an area called the West Valley off I-10 near Tonopah, costs $80 million, said Belmont Partners, a real estate investment group based in Arizona who closed the deal for the plot of land from one of Gates investment firms.

The proposed community, planned to spread across 25,000 acres, will be called Belmont, and the goal is to convert the land into its own smart city, according to Belmont Partners.

Belmont will create a forward-thinking community with a communication and infrastructure spine that embraces cutting-edge technology, designed around high-speed digital networks, data centers, new manufacturing technologies and distribution models, autonomous vehicles and autonomous logistics hubs, the group says in a news release.

Of the 25,000 acres, 3,800 acres will be used for office, retail, and commercial space, while another 470 acres will be used for public schools, which would leave enough space for 80,000 residential units.

Comparable in square miles and projected population to Tempe, Arizona, Belmont will transform a raw, blank slate into a purpose-built edge city built around a flexible infrastructure model, Belmont Properties said.

They even added that the future smart city will enjoy tomorrows technologies such as an autonomous vehicle infrastructure, autonomous logistic hubs, and more upon completion of the project.

Arizona Technology Councils Executive Emeritus Ronald Schott said the land Gates company purchased is in a good spot, which is in part due to the proposed I-11 freeway, which would run right through Belmont and connect to Las Vegas.

Bill Gates is known for innovation and those kind of things, and I think he picked the right place, said Schott, which is in part due to the proposed I-11 freeway.

Hes coming to Arizona. Finally Arizonas being recognized for being a place for innovation, Schott added.

As of now, theres no word on when construction of the project will start. This is a developing story and we will keep you updated.

Dr. Annie Fairbanks, a holistic doctor practicing out of Arizona, was found shot dead in her home with husband Jason Fairbanks, 3 year old daughter and 9 month old son. This makes the 77th holistic doctor to have been found dead in this way over the past couple of years.

Sgt. Ben Hoster, a spokesman for the Scottsdale Police Department, stated that the police do not believe any other parties are involved. This essentially means there are no suspects and that this is likely a murder-suicide. Even the local paper is calling it that. Oddly, this statement and conclusion was made just hours after the incident took place, hardly giving anyone enough time to make a call like that.

This is an isolated incident, Hoster told reporters during a news conference in the neighbourhood on Friday afternoon.  We do not believe there are any outstanding suspects.

The family ran a health practice called Macrotherapy, which focused on natural and holistic healing. Its unclear whether or not the practice was employing new or outside the box methods like GcMAF, but further investigations should tell us.

US House of Rep. to vote on giving Amazon $53 billion deal to become main Pentagon supplier "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Members of the US House of Representatives and Senate Armed Services committees announced Wednesday that they have reached agreement on the proposed $700 billion National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), the annual defense spending bill. This astronomical figure-an $80 billion increase over spending in 2016 and roughly $26 billion more than was requested by President Donald Trump-is a clear signal that the US will expand its ongoing wars around the world and is preparing to engage in far broader conflicts potentially involving North Korea, Iran, Russia, and China. The NDAA will now be voted on by the House of Representatives, where it has been rubber-stamped every year since 1961, before being signed into law by Trump. While reporting by the bourgeois press on the NDAA has been limited overall, a key section of the bill, titled "Procurement Through Commercial E-Commerce Portals," has been almost entirely overlooked. This section establishes the framework whereby Amazon will be able to corner the market for Defense Department procurements worth roughly $53 billion, and its inclusion in the NDAA is a product of the direct links connecting Amazon with the state and military-intelligence apparatus.

Liberals want to change the French language, detractors painted as not keeping up with changing times "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Moves to make French more female-friendly have sparked impassioned debate in France, with an appalled Academie Francaise warning of a "mortal danger" to the language of Moliere. At the centre of the debate is the growing use of formulations such as "lecteur.rice.s" for the word "readers" to embrace both genders. Several government ministries, universities and labour unions use so-called "inclusive writing", but it had largely escaped public notice -- until this autumn when it turned up in an elementary school history textbook. The Academie Francaise, the arbiter of the French language which has inducted just eight women since its foundation in 1635, did not mince words. "In the face of this 'inclusive' aberration, the French language finds itself in mortal danger," the body intoned.

A Strategic View "IndyWatch Feed Allaunews"

My friend Aaron T. suggested this book to me.

Usually I read military history in an attempt to extract a big picture of events from the details.

Victor Davis Hansons new book is a strategic view of WWII [amazn] treating the war as a set of overlapping strategic problems that are discussed individually. To put it mildly, I find this fascinating. At first I felt a bit put off because some aspects of the war appear to be viewed repetitively I was wondering is this a bunch of articles that have been bound together? before I realized that the intent was to make his arguments stand on their own, in each area. When I read something critically, I am constantly weighing whether the author is pulling any tricks or putting his thumb on the scale and even with my skepticism sensitivity knob on 11 I dont catch anything in Hansons analysis that seems unfair. There are parts that make me uncomfortable, such as frank discussion of the value of the strategic bombing campaign and the question of how much it shortened the war (Hansons answer: it shortened it enough that it was probably a wash, trading dead Japanese and German civilians for dead Jews and Russian and other European civilians).

Im used to reading military history that focuses on a narrow area for example: the North Africa Campaign and the various events and trade-offs that theater commanders had to deal with. From that, I try to draw some conclusions, usually Wow, that was badly run or Rommel was overrated. Then, I check those conclusions against my memory and other things Ive read and see if they hold up. My experience reading this book is very different Hanson drops the conclusions and the facts from which they are drawn, and sometimes digs down to a necessary level of detail, but otherwise maintains his attention at the level of the big trade-offs: the axis did not coordinate its grand strategy effectively because Hitler was an impulsive gambler prone to sneak attacks. Reading an account of the Russia campaign, its pretty easy to see that Hitlers decision-making was bad, but Im not used to thinking about how Hitlers strategic blunders affected Mussolinis which, of course, they did.

When World War I broke out in 1939, Germany did not have a serious plan for defeating those enemies, present of future, that were positioned well beyond its own borders. Unlike its more distant adversaries, the Third Reich had neither an adequate blue water navy nor a strategic bombing fleet, anchored by escort fig...

Vietnam and China agree to back off conflicts in South China Sea "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

AFP

POOL/AFP | Chinese President Xi Jinping (L) shakes hands with Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang (R) at the presidential palace in Hanoi

HANOI (AFP)  Vietnam and China agreed Monday to back away from conflicts in the South China Sea, in a move aimed at easing tensions over Beijings claims to most of the waterway.

The communist neighbours have long-sparred over the sea to which Brunei, Taiwan and the Philippines also have partial claims through which $5 trillion in shipping trade passes annually.

China has built artificial islands and airstrips capable of hosting military installations in the sea, which is believed to sit atop vast oil and gas deposits.

Hanoi and Beijing agreed Monday to keep the peace in the sea, the countries said in a joint statement during a state visit to Hanoi by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Tensions flared earlier this year when Vietnam suspended an oil exploration project in an area off its coast that China claims as its own, reportedly following pressure from Beijing.

Relations hit rock bottom in 2014 when Beijing moved an oil rig into waters claimed by Vietnam, sparking weeks of protests.

On Sunday US President Donald Trump offered to use his negotiation prowess to help Vietnam resolve the long-simmering tensions.

If I can help mediate or arbitrate, please let me know I am a very good mediator, Trump said on his own state visit to Hanoi at the tail end of his marathon tour of Asia.

But on Monday, China appeared to take a swipe at his offer.

We hope non-regional countries can respect the regional countries efforts in maintaining the regional stability of the South China Sea, and play a constructive role in this aspect, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said at a regular press briefing.

Trump was in Manila Monday for meetings with the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and several other countries.

Later Monday China and ASEAN, which includes Vietnam, were expected to announce in Manila that they have agreed to beg...

Who will Evaluate the China Deal for WV, When? "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

China has dangled an $84 billion capital investment -- unreal!

The big West Virginia deal in China, value to be determined

Essay by S. Tom Bond, Retired Chemist & Resident Farmer, Lewis County, WV

While in China, President Trump signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreements talking about investing $250 billion in the U. S. One MOU is for China Energy Investment Corp. to invest $83.7 billion in shale gas development and chemical manufacturing projects in West Virginia over two decades, according to a statement from the WV Department of Commerce. For comparison, West Virginias Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the worth of all goods and services produced in the state for a year, is in the neighborhood of $66 billion.

A MOU is not a contract, little more than a statement saying we are thinking about this project. We should do a lot of thinking about this one. Over the last 46 years, U. S. capital has flowed to China, and the Chinese have managed to accumulate very substantial capital themselves.

However, the Communist party has maintained firm control and Xi Jinpeng, Trumps opposite number, was elevated to the same status as Mao Zedong. As thoughtful citizens know, some three-fourths of the disposable part of U. S. tax money goes into our military, designed to resist the advance of Communism, including China and North Korea. Russia is still strongly influenced by Communism.

That U. S. investment has built up China at the same time we have built up a military to defend against them, witness the pivot to Asia. Doesn this seem to be self-contradictory? The result is that China is a rising power. The headline says China GDP Growth Eases to 6.8% in Third Quarter 2017. For the U. S. the corresponding figure is at a more or less constant 2.8%.

Consider the proposed big deal in West Virginia. Chinese companies competing with American companies? Will they bring their own workers, as they have for projects in Africa? Will they hire American workers, pay American wages and benefits, work them American standard hours, etc.? Wont they want cheap Chinese labor (remember Trumps statement I am always going to put America first, the same way that I expect all of you in this room to put your countries first.) Remember the old adage He that pays the piper calls the tune. Will the Chinese give that up?

Then there is the language problem, and our submerged racial attitude toward our smaller,....

The Fascists Are Back "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Look, I don't want to get all high and mighty. I'm mindful that on August 8th, 1925, thirty thousand Ku Klux Klan members marched down Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington DC to vocalize their opposition to our then-stringent immigration policies. So, what we're seeing in Warsaw isn't without precedent here at home:

WARSAWTens of thousands of Poles marched across downtown Warsaw on Saturday, in an independence-day procession organized by a nationalist youth movement that seeks an ethnically pure Poland with fewer Jews or Muslims.

The largely young crowd shot off roman candles and many chanted fatherland, carrying banners that read White Europe, Europe Will Be White and Clean Blood. Some of the marchers flew in from Hungary, Slovakia and Spain and waved flags and symbols that those countries used during their wartime collaboration with Nazi Germany.

A number of people in the crowd said they didnt belong to any neo-fascist or racist organization but didnt see a problem with the overall tone of what has become Polands biggest independence day event.

There are of course nationalists and fascists at this march, said Mateusz, a 27-year-old wrapped in a Polish flag, Im fine with it. Im just happy to be here.

The march, organized by a group called the National Radical Camp, underscores the rightward politics of a growing section of Polish youth. The Radical Camp presents itself as the heir to a 1930s fascist movement of the same name, which fought to rid Poland of Jews in the years just before the Holocaust. A second group, All Polish Youth, also named after an anti-Jewish interwar movement, co-organized it.

Europe's fascist movement had enough support here in the States that even after the war some people were punished for having been "premature" anti-fascists by taking the Second Republic's side in the Spanish Civil War against Francisco Franco's Falangists.

A couple of things about this, though. We know what resulted from the fascist takeover of Europe. The Poles certainly did not fare well. We also got our act together and fought against the fascists. And, when we were done, we started a decades-long process of cleaning our own house while rebuilding the conquered lands in both Europe and Asia so that we wouldn't have to fight again.

So, we may not have purest history, but we can be proud and unashamed of our record. Our leadership put us on the right course.

It's important to remember that the day....

CATS Protect You And Your Home From Ghosts And Negative Spirits "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Recall a time when you noticed your cat staring tensely towards a seemingly empty space or spending a suspicious amount of time around one particular spot in the house.

It's likely that your cat is sensitive to a concentrated amount of negative energy and is attempting to protect you and your home from possible infiltration by evil spirits and ghosts.

This is because cats bear a uniquely powerful aura, also known as an astral force, that works to repel negative energy.

It is possible that this negative energy remains left over from some traumatic experience in the past before you came to live in the home, or the entity could come from outside the home and try to force its way in.

The cat serves as a valuable line of defense for you and your loved ones by attempting to trap the evil spirit in its powerful energy field and lead it out of the house.

Be sure not to disturb your cat if you notice that it is purposefully wandering around your house.

Cats are skilled at discerning the intentions of astral entities and could be following some source of negative energy in the attempt to ambush it and remove it from your immediate environment if it senses a threatening aura.

Russians used to allow a cat to enter a house first before they moved in due to its extraordinarily strong aura.

In that way, the cat could take immediate action in warding away any excess negative energy left behind from previous inhabitants while also providing powerful positive energy if the house was new or had merely neutral energy.

There are ways that you can assist your cat in removing evil spirits and ghosts from your home.

In the case that your cat takes interest in a certain spot in the house, you can read a prayer and perform a cleansing ritual of your choice.

Alternatively, you can burn some White Sage at the spot to eliminate any unwanted energy, as the smoke will attach itself to heavy negative energy and convert it back into light energy.

You can also simply rub fresh White Sage leaves between your thumbs and forefingers, as this can also be effective way to release the plant's cleansing energy.

You can notice later if your cat continues to return to that spot with any regularity or if the cleansing ritual succeeded in burning away the negative energy.

Cats also work to protect you and the house from any curses or evil eyes.

Like talismans and necklaces worn in many cultures around the world to protect the wearer from evil eyes, you must be holding your cat for it to be effective in shielding you from the malevolent thoughts....

Three US Aircraft Carriers Enter South Korea in Joint Drills "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Seoul (TNA) Three US aircraft carriers joined an ongoing exercise with the South Korean Navy in the East Sea on Sunday in an unprecedented show of force against a provocative North Korea.

The three flattops USS Ronald Reagan, USS Nimitz, and USS Theodore Roosevelt entered the operational area, called the Korea Theater of Operations (KTO), for the four-day maneuvers slated to end Tuesday, Yonhap news agency reported.

The KTO is an area that the commander of the South Korea-US combined forces is to zone off for military operations in case of a contingency. It can also involve open seas.

It marks the first time that three US aircraft carriers have joined together at close range for a joint exercise with South Korea, officials said.

RELATED: Analysis: CIA Directors Pompeo, Petraeus & Brennan: 3 Views on North Korea

Seouls Joint Chiefs of Staff said that the maneuvers are aimed at enhancing the credibility of extended deterrence against the Norths nuclear and missile provocations. Extended deterrence refers to the US commitment to defend its ally by mobilizing all military capabilities, nuclear and conventional, against the Norths aggression.

The combined drills are to present our resolve and will to deter North Koreas provocations and retaliate if provoked, a Seoul official said, declining to be named.

Apart from the nuclear-powered aircraft carriers, 11 US Aegis ships and seven South Korean warships, including two Aegis destroyers, participated in the drills.

The exercise comes after the two countries agreed in talks between their respective defense ministers last month to expand the rotational deployment of US strategic military assets to the Korean Peninsula to better cope with North Korean provocations.

Seoul and Washington have recently carried out a series of drills to show off their military heft in response to the Norths saber-rattling, such as its sixth and most powerful nuclear test on Sept. 3 and a series of missile launches.

Ret. US General: US Could Lose War With North Korea "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Washington, D.C. (GPA A retired US General has a warning for the Trump regime: The US could lose a war with North Korea.

Over the weekend, retired General Jan-Marc Jouas issued an ominous warning to the Trump regime concerning their escalating rhetoric with Pyongyang.

Unlike a lot of other instances of establishment figures telling President Trump, he is unfit for office, this time the warning came from an actual retired military figure with some standing. In fact, not only is Jouas a high ranking former general but his last official position was as the deputy commander of US forces in Korea.

Lt. Gen. Jan-Marc Jouas (Left)
Image: USAF

The warning from Jouas came via leaked letters the general wrote to members of the US Congress which contained an honest assessment of what would happen should a new war break out between the US and the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea (DPRK).

Despite the image of military superiority painted by Donald Trump, Jouas warned that the US would face multiple challenges in any potential large-scale operations on the Korean Peninsula. Not least of which, according to Jouas, is the fact that US forces are vastly outnumbered by North Korean forces, as well as [allied] forces that will conduct the overwhelming majority of the fighting.

Jouas also warned that due to the logistics around a war on the Korean peninsula that Unlike every conflict since the last Korean War, we will not be able to build up our forces prior to the start of hostilities. This could be an obvious problem for western troops since the DPRKs army is 1.2 million strong.

Ministers to consider raising the speed of light "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Transport Secretary Philip Hammond today announced that the government would be consulting on raising the current limit of the speed of light.

The 300-million-metres-per-second speed limit was introduced at the beginning of the universe and is clearly now out of date, he said. Weve seen huge advances in sub-atomic automotive safety since then. What we would be doing here is bringing a number of neutrinos which routinely flout the limit back on the right side of the laws of relativity, and that has to be a good thing.

The proposal follows recent trials in an underground transport network on the Franco-Swiss border near Geneva in which certain road users were allowed to exceed the current limit. The success of that experiment means that Ministers are convinced the existing law needs to change.

Not only would this change be good for scientists, it would also be good for business, continued Hammond. Increasing the speed limit would reduce the journey time from the sun to the earth from its current sluggish 8 minutes and 19 seconds, bringing enormous economic benefits by increasing the amount of sunlight we receive and potentially lengthening the day.

However, critics of the plan have expressed concern. Physicists have already shown complete disregard for sub-atomic safety, said campaign group BRAKE. A rise in the light-speed limit is only going to see more scientific theories die needlessly in our laboratories each year as scientists smash particles together at ever increasing velocity.

Despite the criticism Ministers have vowed to press on with the scheme, but have also promised to get tough with selfish sub-atomic road users who tail-gate, hog the middle lane and overtake on the inside.

Black Death that has killed 140 people in Madagascar could become untreatable if it mutates "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

A medical expert has warned that the plague, which has already killed 140 people in Madagascar, could mutate and become untreatable. Professor Paul Hunter also warned it was possible for the disease to reach Europe and North America like the Ebola virus did in 2014 following an outbreak in West Africa. Hunter, who lectures in health protection at the University of East Anglia, said: "As with any disease, it's a real worry that it mutates and become untreatable." He told the Daily Star: "If it reaches the UK, Europe or the US it would be similar to the Ebola outbreak. "We would probably have a few isolated cases but it shouldn't spread like it has in Madagascar." The island, located off the southeastern coast of Africa, has seen 143 of its citizens from over 2,000 people infected.

The Hilton hotel chain is paying a $700,000 settlement after being accused of mishandling two separate credit card data breaches.

The Hilton hotel chain is paying a $700,000 settlement to the states of New York and Vermont after being accused of mishandling two separate cyber attacks that exposed financial data of its customers.

The credit card breaches were in 2014 and 2015 and affected more than 363,000 payment cards.

The investigation revealed that crooks installed a PoS malware in Hilton payment systems, potentially exposing customers card details between 18 November and 5 December 2014.

The second incident was spotted in July and dates back April of the same year.

Hilton Domestic Operating Company, Inc notified customers about the incident only in November 2015.

The company is accused of poor security of its payment system and is responsible for the delay in informing customers.

Businesses have a duty to notify consumers in the event of a breach and protect their personal information as securely as possible, said Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman.

Lax security practices like those we uncovered at Hilton put New Yorkers credit card information and other personal data at serious risk. My office will continue to hold businesses accountable for protecting their customers personal information.

As part of the settlement, Hilton will strengthen the security of its payment systems and internal procedures for incident handling.

How ex-DNC chair Donna Brazile ruined Clinton's chance at 2020 "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Who's afraid of the Clintons? Not Donna Brazile. The explosive book by the former head of the Democratic National Committee is rocking the political world with its tales of Hillary Clinton's brazen corruption and tawdry deceits. To add extra punch to her insider's account, Brazile is telling interviewers that Clinton's 2016 campaign was "sterile" and a "cult," and mocking it as sexless and joyless. She even writes that she considered trying to replace Clinton as the nominee over health concerns after the candidate collapsed at the 9/11 anniversary ceremony, a fact that demolishes the myth that suspicions about Clinton's condition were the sole province of conservative partisans. To say the Clinton camp is furious at what they regard as betrayal doesn't do justice to their outrage. They are attacking Brazile personally, accusing her of telling outright lies just to sell books. Which is mighty rich when you consider the history of the Clintons.

  • Offshoot called bitcoin cash is luring users amid tech debate
  • Bitcoins jump this year has attracted Wall Streets interest

No automatic alt text available.

Bitcoin slumped as the cancellation of a technology upgrade prompted some users to switch out of the cryptocurrency, spooking speculators who had profited from a more than 500 percent surge this year.

The cryptocurrency has dropped 5.6 percent since late Friday, and at one point extended its slide from last weeks record to as much as 29 percent. Bitcoin cash, a rival that split from the original bitcoin in August, has jumped 32 percent since Friday, according to data compiled by Coinmarketcap.com.

Bitcoin cash is gaining popularity because of its larger block size, a characteristic that makes transactions cheaper and faster than the original. When a faction of the cryptocurrency community canceled plans to increase bitcoins block size on Wednesday a move that would have created another offshoot some supporters of bigger blocks rallied around bitcoin cash.

The resulting volatility has been extreme even by bitcoins wild standards and comes amid growing interest in cryptocurrencies among regulators, banks and fund managers. While skeptics have called bitcoins rapid advance a bubble, it has become too big for many on Wall Street to ignore. Even after shrinkin...

Tom Lee of FundStrat: Bitcoins Recent Pullback Can Be Easily Explained "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Tom Lee has made no secret of his bullishness for Bitcoin. Back in October, which admittedly seems like forever ago in the crypto space, he explained to Business Insider a technique which his company had been using to predict price changes over time. Based on Metcalfes law, Lee claims that he can use his equation to explain 94% of the price movement in Bitcoin:

If you build a very simple model valuing bitcoin as the square function number of users times the average transaction value. 94% of the bitcoin moves over the past four years is explained by that equation.

Metcalfes law was originally penned to account for the value of a telecommunications network. It states that the value of a network is proportional to its number of users squared. The theory is that a network gains value exponentially in accordance with new participants. Imagine a telephone. Its not very useful on its own. However, add a second to the network and suddenly its no longer a pointless piece of hardware. Add a third network participant and the combination of interactions grows by more than double. Naturally, this increases the value of the network.

According to Lee, the same can be said about Bitcoin. This is because its essentially a communication network itself. However, the only information communicable is value. Fundstrat analysed the number of new wallet addresses as a rough estimate of Bitcoin users. Over time, they found that the square of the figure explained some 63% of price shifts in the period 2013-17. This was taken further by including a second variable the transaction volume per user. By using the second value with the existing equation, they found that they could explain an additional 20% of swings. Finally, Lee and company were able to find a formula by regressing the price of Bitcoin against both unique addresses squared and transaction volume per user. This particular formula explained a massive 94% of the variation in the price of cryptos in the period they studied.

But, what does all this mean and why is it relevant right now? Well, according to Lee, Bitcoins price is currently over-extended in relation to his calculations. This helps to explain why were seeing a pullback today. For him there isnt a lot of room to grow whilst the network remains at it current size. For the next boom, well need to see another huge influx of users. This will provide the required value to the network and thus necessitate a higher price point. This is something that Lee and Fundstrat are confident in:

Bitcoins longer-term technical trend remains positive but short-term upside appea...

Soviet children in 1967 dreamt of space travel, free ice-cream & robots doing homework in 2017 World News "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Letters from a time capsule opened in the Russian city of Novorossiysk have revealed that Soviet students in 1967 believed their peers in 50 years time would be living on other planets and eating ice cream for free, while their homework will be done by machines.

Hundreds of time capsules were laid across the USSR in 1967 as the country celebrated half a century since the Russian Revolution, which eventually led to the creation of the Soviet state. Those messages, containing the accounts of Soviet peoples lives and their messages to descendants, are being opened in Russia this year, coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the events of 1917.

North Korean soldier, shot and wounded, defects to South "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

SEOUL (Reuters) A North Korean soldier defected to the South on Monday after being shot and wounded by the North Korean military, South Korea said.

The soldier was found on the south side of the border village of Panmunjom, about 50 meters south of the Military Demarcation Line, wounded in his shoulder and elbow, according to a South Korean defense ministry official.

He defected from a North Korean guard post nearby and was being treated in hospital.

The defector was urgently transferred to hospital in a helicopter of the United Nations Command, and there was no exchange of fire with our side, the ministry official told Reuters.

Since it was an area exposed to the North, we had to crawl toward there to get him out, the official added.

There was no immediate comment on the incident from North Korea.

While on average more than 1,000 North Koreans defect to South Korea every year, most travel via China and it is unusual for a North Korean to cross the land border dividing the two Koreas, which have been in a technical state of war since their 1950-53 conflict ended in a truce, not a peace treaty.

The last such crossing was in June.

The South Korean ministry official said the soldiers condition and military rank remained to be verified.

The defection comes amid tension between the two Koreas, and between the United States and the North.

North Korea has this year been boosting its nuclear and missile capacity with a series of tests as it faces off with U.S. President Donald Trump who has vowed to stop it from being able to hit the mainland United States with a nuclear weapon.

North Korea conducted its sixth and most powerful nuclear bomb test on Sept. 3, but has not launched any missiles since firing one over Japan on Sept. 15, the longest such lull this year.

California May Become First State to Legalize Magic Mushrooms "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Sacramento, California  A movement in California to legalize magic mushrooms recently cleared its first hurdle. Last week, the state government gave organizers the green light to begin collecting the 365,000 petition signatures required for the initiative to be placed on a future ballot.

The initiative, which was filed with the state attorney generals office back in August, would make the sale and use of psilocybin mushrooms legal for adults, 21 and over, all across the state.

Movement organizers had been waiting for government approval to begin the next phase of their campaign, and now they have it by way of an announcement from California Secretary of State Alex Padilla.

The initiative text was written by Kevin Saunders, who is also spearheading the movement. He told High Times this petition-gathering phase will be the most difficult part, but that once proposal makes it to a ballot he has few concerns:

We will get the required signatures and this will go straight to the voters. We are confident we can put together a coalition to push us over 51 percent. This is the hard part; the campaign will be the easy part.

As to how he and other movement organizers plan to acquire the necessary signatures, Saunders says they will rely heavily on volunteers, those who are well versed in where to harvest the names. He said his people plan to be very visible in the community.

Om samen te vechten voor een wereld waarin we grenzenloze solidariteit voorop stellen, organiseren we op 25 & 26 november een antiracistische marathon met workshops, discussies, eten, films, feest en acties om de strijd tegen racisme te versterken.

To fight together for a world where we picture solidarity without borders, we co-organize an anti-racist marathon on the 25th and 26th of november. This will include workshops, discussions, food, movies, party and actions to strengthen the struggle against racism. [For English, read on below]

This is a paid press release, which contains forward looking statements, and should be treated as advertising or promotional material. Bitcoin.com does not endorse nor support this product/service. Bitcoin.com is not responsible for or liable for any content, accuracy or quality within the press release.

The next evolution of digital card gaming is coming.

Nova Blitz is deploying the Nova Token, an Ethereum token based on the ERC-20 standard. The platform allows players to own their digital cards, win real prizes in tournaments, and earn copies of cards through proof of stake. As with traditional trading card games, players construct decks consisting of a combination of cards and battle each other in gaming arenas for glory and prizes. Both the digital cards and Nova Tokens are ERC-20 tokens on the Ethereum blockchain, so players can buy, sell, and trade directly on the blockchain. As players own the digital cards in their collection, they will be able to sell these cards for Nova Tokens on the in-game card exchange and on the Ethereum blockchain.

The Nova Token is designed specifically to address the needs of game developers and card gamers. The Nova Token addresses the 3 critical pain points in the digital trading card games market, i.e. giving players real ownership not license of use of their digital items, providing a marketplace for trading digital items, and enhancing collectability and value of digital items.

The Nova Blitz platform also allows third party game developers to deploy their games on the platform, thereby spurring the growth of the game development industry.

Nova Blitz is advised by Richard Garfield, the founder of Magic: The Gathering, the worlds best-selling trading card game, and Skaff Elias, the inventor of the Magic Pro Tour.

Proof Of Stake Earns You Cards: Every time Nova Blitz releases a new card, all players earn copies of it based on their holdings of Nova Tokens. The more tokens players own, the more cards they receive. Each tradeable card has a different distribution based...
