WHAT IS A BITCOIN WALLET

EXCLUSIVE: Jan. 6 Prisoners and Families Expose Brutal Truth About Jail Lockdown

Lockdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic had a major impact on all kinds of social behaviors, from discrimination to civic engagement and protests. What effect has the pandemic had on more extreme behaviors, like terrorist attacks from groups like the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS)? Many armed actors, such as ISIS, threatened to use the pandemic to advance their goals. In its propaganda, ISIS even referred to COVID-19 as the smallest soldier of Allah on the face of the earth.

In some ways, the pandemic presented an opportunity to armed groups like ISIS. The pandemic threatened to divert resources away from fighting extremism because it overwhelmed countries budgets and placed demands on some countries security forces to deliver public health care services.  

In our research, however, my colleagues and I found that the pandemic did not generally increase ISIS attacks. Instead, we found that lockdown measures adopted during the pandemic reduced attacks in Egypt, Iraq, and Syria. The effects were especially large in densely populated areas, where the population provided physical cover for ISISs activities, and in areas outside ISISs base of operations, which were harder to reach due to travel restrictions.

In taking people off the streets, the lockdowns removed the physical cover ISIS relies on for its operations, especially in urban areas, and eliminated many high-value civilian targets, such as markets. In shutting down businesses and reducing travel, the lockdowns also reduced ISISs revenue.  However, the lockdowns were not in place long enough to significantly deplete the groups reserves.

Even though the impact of the lockdowns on ISIS was significant, the lockdowns posed less of a challenge to ISIS than most other armed groups. ISIS has large financial reserves, operates in largely rural areas, and does not extensively target civilian populations. Most...

These three banks had become some of the most popular banking partners for cryptocurrency exchanges and companies, and their sudden closures left many in the industry scrambling to find new partners.

Imagine a simple dinner made from a potato that has just been dug out of the earth. You have fresh butter and fresh sour cream, made over the last week. You dont have much in the way of exotic spices, just a bit of locally smoked paprika, some sea salt, and some black pepper. You dont have fancy air fryers, 947 different cooking vessels, or gadgets to cut it into fancy shapes.

You have your potato, some olive oil, some tin foil, and your oven.

You bake your fist-sized potato after slathering it in fragrant, dark-gold olive oil (plus a couple of extra ones for future meals.) You cut it open, slather it with the fresh, yellow butter, and season it with your salt, pepper, and paprika. Add a dollop of sour cream, then sit down at your table. Lessons from living differently

As many of you know, Ive taken off to spend some time in Europe, and things are a lot different here. Im here for a few months, on a temporary basis, to do some writing. But while Ive been here, I think that there are some lessons we can take away from this that may help us prepare for the economic crisis that looms over us.

As most of you know, Greece suffered its own economic collapse in 2009 that worsened over the course of the next five years or so. (I wrote about it here.) It was a terrible time here, but gradually, the country recovered to some degree. However, people still dont really make enough money to survive easily in the economy, taxes are exorbitant, and the infrastructure has become badly degraded. Because of the economic crisis, things are less advanced here than they are in the US. Theres less dependence on technology, a fact that is in unison welcome (less surveillance) and frustrating (you cant do everything online here.)

But there are some things that we can use to help us through hard times....

I(46M) have an apple tree in my backyard and a peach tree in my front yard. I am currently living in my parents house with my wife(46F). My mother and father planted them.

They passed away and we decided to plant more. I only trim them when the branches get too big. They are mostly for the wildlife in the nearby woods. The deer love to come and eat the fruit. I dont spray them with any pesticides as they arent for consumption.

I work during the week and dont get home until the evening. I havent had any issues with the neighbors as the house is mostly in the countryside and surrounded by woods. A few weeks ago, a new neighbor moved in to the house nextdoor. I havent had any interaction with them until now. I was not aware that the neighbor was coming over and grabbing fruit from the peach tree.

I get home yesterday and neighbor was standing on my porch. She comes storming over to my car and says The peaches made my son and I sick. I told her that the fruit was mostly for decoration and for the wildlife. She starts screaming at me and threatens to call the cops unless I take the trees down.

I told her no, Im not going to take the trees down. My wife suggested going out to the grocery store and buying her some peaches to keep the peace.

ST. LOUIS Shane Worley, the frontman of local punk band Blood Bathtub, reportedly panicked upon introducing the members of his band, hoping that the name of the bassist came to him by the time he finished doing everyone elses intro.

Ill admit, shouting everyone out during the show was a mistake, said Worley while smoking a cigarette after the show. After introducing our lead guitarist and our drummer my face tensed into a thoughtful grimace as I tried to remember what our bassists name is. I never would have started calling out the band if I knew this would happen, but to be honest, I forgot we even had someone on bass up there with us. His face looks familiar, for sure, hes been at practices for the last six years, Ive seen him at our photoshoots, I was the Best Man at his wedding, but his name just eludes me.

Despite Worleys best efforts to play off the situation, crowd members reportedly noticed his forgetfulness during the show.

I could tell something was up, said show attendee Eryn Mayhew. When he finally got around to the bass player, the frontman just stammered and stuttered for a full thirty seconds, and then said stuff like you know him, you love, hes the big dog and give it up for the Chief. Then he gave the rest of the band three more introductions, clearly stalling for time. There was a solid minute where he was sort of hiding behind some amps looking at his phone and smacking his forehead. But I dont think he ever figured it out.

LOS ANGELES Aaron Sorkin caused a stir in Hollywood when he released a new more grounded script replacing stylized dialogue with awkward pauses and characters thinking of witty retorts five minutes later, confirmed multiple sources who claim to still love The West Wing.

It all started when someone called me Stephen Kings aborted twin, said the acclaimed writer-director. I tried to come up with a comeback, but I just mumbled you too and walked away. Five minutes later I thought of a whole speech about how the guy that called me that was a disappointment to his parents, his friends, and most importantly America. It was super eloquent, but then I realized that no one is that quick-witted. If I, a super genius writer and master of subtlety, could not clap back in the moment, why should any of my characters? So I wrote this new script where everyone is a simpering dipshit, just like in real life.

Frequent collaborators of Sorkin are having difficulty adjusting to the new realistic format.

Ive never had to act through so many dumbfounded silences as on Aarons new film, said fake president Martin Sheen, My character would get insulted, and I would just stand there stammering, saying uhhhhh, and then occasionally just cry before running out of the room. That happens to me all the time in real life, but it isnt very fun in movies. Its as frustrating as it is realistic.

This new wave of cinematic realism has taken hold with auteurs all across Hollywood.

In the interest of realism, Ive also rewritten every character that interacts with Gwyneth Paltrow to find her completely insufferable.

The Pew Research Center published a new report on March 15th, revealing how Americans view different religious groups in the country. Conducted from September 13 to 18, 2022, the survey gathered data from 10,588 participants, with a margin of error of 1.5%.

The study discovered that 40% to 60% of the respondents said they hold neither favorable nor unfavorable views or dont know enough to say when asked if they had positive or negative feelings towards other religious groups.

According to Patricia Tevington, the survey's lead researcher, the study's results speak to most people not wanting to rate entire groups of other people due to fear of stereotyping. The results are also affected by the size of the surveyed religious groups since most people tend to rate their religious groups more positively.

However, many of the respondents had more positive views of certain religious groups, with Jews, mainline Protestants, and Catholics ranking higher compared to other faiths, particularly Muslims, Mormons, Evangelical Christians, and atheists.

While dietary supplements cannot take the place of a healthy lifestyle, they can be used strategically to boost your health, especially in cases of deficiency. In the U.S., 57.6% of adults aged 20 and over use supplements, with multivitamins, vitamin D and omega-3 fats representing the top three.¹ Another survey put the percentage of Americans using supplements at 86%.²

So, it's safe to say that many people are interested in taking control of their health with the support of supplemental vitamins, minerals and other compounds. But, when it comes to supplements, more isn't always better.

To ensure you're using only supplements you need avoiding wasting your money while maintaining your body's balance I recommend using dietary interventions first. Next, work with a holistic health care practitioner who can guide you on which supplements your body truly needs.

19 Supplements I Consider Essential

The best supplements for you depend on your age, health status and health goals. If having a practitioner guide you isn't possible, essential supplements may be next on your list and I've compiled the list in rank order of what I believe to be the most important ones.

Some of the most important individual variables you need to consider would be if you are plant-based or choose to eat animal products. While many plant-based diets are fundamentally healthy, they do lack some vital nutrients, like vitamin B12, retinol, vitamin K2, carnosine, carnitine, collagen and choline. If you are plant-based, you will certainly want to consider adding these to your regimen.

1. Molecular Hydrogen (H₂)

Molecular hydrogen acts as a selective antioxidant, meaning it doesn't indiscriminately suppress free radicals. Rather, it's unique in that it helps your body make its own endogenous antioxidants. This is important because excessive use of antioxidants can be counterproductive, while molecular hydrogen serves as a redox regulator.

The H₂ molecule is the smallest in the universe, which allows it to diffuse through all cell membranes, including the blood-brain barrier and subcellular compartments, and into the mitochondria. According to Tyler LeBaron, Ph.D., it's been shown to have therapeutic benefits in more than 170 different animal disease models.³ While there's no risk of overdosing on molecular hydrogen, intermittent exposure produces the best results.

Some cases of autism are caused by mutations in the branched chain ketoacid dehydrogenase kinase (BCKDK) gene.¹ The BCKDK gene is involved in the metabolism of branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs). In those with BCKDK deficiency, BCAAs are broken down too quickly, leading to depletion.²

This, in turn, is linked to a neurodevelopmental disorder that includes autism, intellectual disability and microcephaly. Dietary changes, including supplementing with BCAAs, appears to be an effective treatment for some and, if started early, may even prevent autism from developing.

BCAA Supplements May Benefit Autism

In 2012, researchers found that supplementing with BCAAs reversed some of the associated neurological characteristics in mice, and explained:³

By supplementing the diet of human cases with BCAAs, we have been able to normalize their plasma BCAA levels, which suggests that it may be possible to treat patients with mutations in BCKDK with BCAA supplementation.

Joseph Gleeson, a professor with the University of California, San Diego, who was involved with the study, noted:⁴

In a 2012 study, we determined that mice with a mutation in BCKDK that are on a diet low in branched-chain amino acids have traits similar to those of autistic children; feeding the animals high levels of the amino acids eliminates the traits.

Supplementing the diets of autistic children who have a BCKDK mutation improved their behavior remarkably. One young woman became calmer and spoke in full sentences; another was more energetic and attentive.

Although mutations in BCKDK appear to be rare, metabolic problems in autism may not be. One clinical trial found that nearly 17 percent of autistic participants showed signs of unusual amino-acid metabolism.⁵ And in 2012, researchers tied mutations in a gene involved in the synthesis of carnitine (a compound derived from an amino acid) to autism.⁶

The genetic risk factor is present in 1 in 350 boys, only 2 to 4 percent of whom have autism. However, if a boy with autism carries this mutation, a readily available supplement might treat the underlying cause.

We are being ruled by a government of scoundrels, spies, thugs, thieves, gangsters, ruffians, rapists, extortionists, bounty hunters, battle-ready warriors, and cold-blooded killers who communicate using a language of force and oppression.

NSW Premier (for now) Dominic Perrotet has told voters to make sure they bring cash when voting in tomorrows election as there will be toll booths operating at all voting booths in Western Sydney.

Expecting the federal government to solve all social woes led to the downfall of the American society. It began socioeconomically when under the Johnson Administration the snowball began rolling downhill with LBJs Great Society the idea that deficit spending to guarantee income against poverty mainly for Blacks in the decaying inner cities became an effective voting base. The federal government threw away trillions on the War on Cancer, The War on Drugs and all the other ill-advised taxpayer funded programs that became perpetual fiscal bottomless pits. The stage was set for the compounded deficits that would lead to the US financing its own debt by borrowing foreign money to the point where other countries carried the inability of the US to pay its bills along with the growing interest that was accumulating!

Theres nothing easy about caring for a child with special needs. It takes a financial, emotional, physical, and mental toll that people who havent experienced may not be able to understand.

Before i M40 got married to my wife 33 we talked about every in advance. It was silly stuff at first. How we squeezed toothpaste, which direction the toilet paper roll should face, that sort of thing.

But as our relationship progressed we talked about more serious stuff. How we would discipline our children, living wills, and what we would do if we knew we were having a child with severe special needs.

They were lucky to not have to make hard choices (that his family didnt approve of), but his sister was not. Her daughter is significantly disabled and her husband has left because of it, contributing only financially.

I had told my sister this because she is my best friend. She went running to our parents saying that we were terrible people who would terminate a pregnancy that wasnt going to give us a perfect child. I never said that. We had to spend days explaining that we knew what we could handle and what we could deal with. My parents werent happy.

Ai Weiwei Recreated Monets Water Lilies Out of 650,000 LEGO Bricks

Nearly a century after Claude Monet captured the beauty of lily ponds in a series of Impressionist paintings, Ai Weiwei has reimagined the triptych in a radically new way. The contemporary Chinese artistknown for pushing boundariesused 650,000 LEGO bricks in 22 different colors to reconstruct the image on a massive scale. Titled Water Lilies #1, this striking piece is part of Weiwei's upcoming exhibition Ai Weiwei: Making Sense opening at the Design Museum in London in April 2023.

Making Sense focuses on Weiwei's interest in design and architecture. In Water Lilies #1, he translates Monet's expressive brushstrokes into a pixelated depiction made up of geometric bricks. And while it may resemble an Impressionist piece from afar, closer inspection reveals that the organic forms are actually rendered with thousands and thousands of blocks, echoing the prevalence of digital art in the modern world. A Federal Reserve white paper has come up with a new function for money. The Federal Reserve Board announced that the Federal Reserve Banks will develop a new round-the-clock real-time payment and settlement service, called the FedNow^sm Service, to support faster payments in the United States. Thats ruling class speak for: you will be using a central bank digital currency (CBDC) that we fully control to make sure you remain enslaved to us.

This is a direct response to the threat posed by digital currencies and blockchain. According to one Fed official, Last summer, the U.S. Treasury recommended that the Federal Reserve move quickly to facilitate a faster retail payments system, such as through the development of a real-time settlement service, that would also allow for more efficient and ubiquitous access to innovative payment capabilities. We believe this effort requires a proof-of-authority quantum computing based blockchain system.

 

But there is a fourth function of money: as a means of social control. The centralized monopoly over the functions of money held by sovereign governments and central banks has generated great income and wealth imbalances. Worlds Largest Bat Species Is the Size of a Human Child

In 2020, Twitter user @AlexJoestar622 set the internet on fire when he posted a photo of what looked like a human-size bat in the Philippines. While many were quick to call the photo fake, it's since been confirmed to be real and shows a giant golden-crowned flying fox (Acerodon jubatus). Also known as a golden-capped fruit bat, this endangered species is one of the largest bats in the world and is endemic to the Philippines. Classified as a megabat, these flying foxes can weigh up to three pounds with a wingspan of up to five and a half feet.

While the Twitter photo isn't fake, it does make the bat appear a bit larger than it really is. That's due to forced perspective, which is a common illusion used in photography. Often used in fantasy films to play with our idea of scale, this technique can make objects appear larger by placing them closer to the camera. So while the bat seems frighteningly large on Twitter, it's not quite that big.

Still, anyone would probably jump if they turned the corner and saw this bat snoozing in their garage. Luckily, giant golden-crowned flying foxes really have no interest in humans. Their diet primarily consists of figs and leaves. As with most bats, they go out foraging at night and then sleep during the day. They can live anywhere from 10 to 30 years in the wild. Little is known about their reproduction, except that females give birth to one pup at a time. It's also suspected that they only have one litter a year.

Given their size, it would likely take a large predator to take down this flying fox. In fact, its main predators are large birds of prey like eagles. They are also hunted by reticulated pythons and, unfortunately, humans who use them for their bushmeat. This act, as well as deforestation, are two of the biggest challenges that the giant golden-crowned flying fox faces.
