In Sachen Effizienz des Gesundheitssystem hrt man ... "IndyWatch Feed Allaunews"

In Sachen Effizienz des Gesundheitssystem hrt man ja immer nur eine Lsung fr alles: Mehr Privatisieren. Der Markt sorgt fr Effizienz.

Wie das in der Praxis aussieht, kann man im den USA sehen:

Cigna doctors denied over 300,000 requests for payments using this method, spending an average of 1.2 seconds on each case, the documents show. The company has reported it covers or administers health care plans for 18 million people.
Die sind damit eine der grten Krankenkassen der USA.

1,2 Sekunden pro Fall! Wenn das die FDP hrt!1!!

Central Bank Digital Currencies Are About Control They Should Be Stopped "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

I participated in an online forum called US CBDCA Disaster in the making? We had a very productive discussion about the policy aspect of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs). I believe that the Fed should not launch a CBDC. Ever. And I think that Congress should amend the Federal Reserve Act, just to be on the safe side. I want to distinguish between a wholesale CBDC and retail CBDC. With a wholesale CBDC, banks can electronically transact with each other using a liability of the central bank. That is essentially what banks do now. But retail CBDCs are another animal altogether. Retail CBDCs allow members of the general public to make electronic payments of all kinds with a liability of the central bank. This featuremaking electronic transactions using a liability of the Federal Reserveis central to why Congress should make sure that the Fed never issues a retail CBDC. The problem is that the federal government, not privately owned commercial banks, would be responsible for issuing deposits. And while this fact might seem like a feature instead of bug, it's a major problem for anything that resembles a free society. The problem is that there is no limit to the level of control that the government could exert over people if money is purely electronic and provided directly by the government. A CBDC would give federal officials full control over the money going intoand coming out ofevery person's account. This level of government control is not compatible with economic or political freedom.

119K people hurt by riot-control weapons since 2015 "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

More than 119,000 people have been injured by tear gas and other chemical irritants around the world since 2015 and some 2,000 suffered injuries from "less lethal" impact projectiles, according to a report released Wednesday. Physicians for Human Rights and the International Network of Civil Liberties Organizations, which produced the report, called it "the most comprehensive study on crowd-control weapons to date." The report on casualties from a largely unregulated industry cites an alarming evolution of crowd-control devices into more powerful and indiscriminate designs and deployment, including dropping tear gas from drones. Some of the injuries were fatal but it was impossible from the data to estimate the total number of deaths, said the report's lead author, Rohini Haar. The vast majority of the data comes from cases in which a person came to an emergency room with injuries from crowd-control weapons and the attending doctor or hospital staff made the effort to document it, Haar said. Protesters have been blinded and suffered brain damage from beanbag rounds. In November, the city of Portland reached a $250,000 settlement with five demonstrators in a federal lawsuit over police use of tear gas and other crowd-control devices during racial justice protests. But last month, a federal judge threw out an excessive force claim against an unnamed federal agent who fired an impact munition at the forehead of protester Donavan La Bella, fracturing his skull.

Note: For an idea of how common the deployment of nonlethal weapons against protesters has become, see a list of incidents of police violence that took place in the US in 2020. The FBI Just Admitted It Bought US Location Data "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation has acknowledged for the first time that it purchased US location data rather than obtaining a warrant. The disclosure came today during a US Senate hearing. Senator Ron Wyden ... put the question of the bureau's use of commercial data to its director, Christopher Wray: "Does the FBI purchase US phone-geolocation information?" Wray said his agency was not currently doing so. "To my knowledge, we do not currently purchase commercial database information that includes location data derived from internet advertising," Wray said. "I understand that we previouslyas in the pastpurchased some such information for a specific national security pilot project. But that's not been active for some time." In its landmark Carpenter v. United States decision, the Supreme Court held that government agencies accessing historical location data without a warrant were violating the Fourth Amendment's guarantee against unreasonable searches. The decision left open a glaring loophole that allows the government to simply purchase whatever it cannot otherwise legally obtain. US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the Defense Intelligence Agency are among the list of federal agencies known to have taken advantage of this loophole. The Department of Homeland Security ... purchased the geolocations of millions of Americans from private marketing firms. The data were derived from ... benign sources, such as mobile games and weather apps.

Mapping Project Reveals Locations of U.S. Border Surveillance Towers "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

The precise locations of the U.S. government's high-tech surveillance towers along the U.S-Mexico border are being made public for the first time as part of a mapping project by the Electronic Frontier Foundation. While the Department of Homeland Security's investment of more than a billion dollars into a so-called virtual wall between the U.S. and Mexico is a matter of public record, the government does not disclose where these towers are located, despite privacy concerns of residents of both countries and the fact that individual towers are plainly visible to observers. The surveillance tower map is the result of a year's work steered by EFF Director of Investigations Dave Maass. As border surveillance towers have multiplied across the southern border, so too have they become increasingly sophisticated, packing a panoply of powerful cameras, microphones, lasers, radar antennae, and other sensors. Companies like Anduril and Google have reaped major government paydays by promising to automate the border-watching process with migrant-detecting artificial intelligence. Opponents of these modern towers, bristling with always-watching sensors, argue the increasing computerization of border security will lead inevitably to the dehumanization of an already thoroughly dehumanizing undertaking. Nobody can say for certain how many people have died attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico border in the recent age of militarization and surveillance. Researchers estimate that the minimum is at least 10,000 dead.

Note: As the article states, the Department of Homeland Security was "the largest reorganization of the federal government since the creation of the CIA and the Defense Department," and has resulted in U.S. taxpayers funding corrupt agendas that have led to massive human rights abuses. Investment fund links to Atlanta police and 'Cop City' project revealed "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

A new investigation has uncovered connections between private equity firms and the contentious development of a sprawling police and fire service training complex in Atlanta known as "Cop City" and the police force which fatally shot an environmental activist. Private equity refers to an opaque form of financing away from public markets in which funds and investors manage money for wealthy individuals and institutional investors. Research shared exclusively with the Guardian details links between Roark Capital, an Atlanta-based private equity firm ... and a corporate backer of the Atlanta police foundation (APF). APF ... is raising $60m from corporate funders to build Cop City in the Atlanta forest previously earmarked for a public park. The APF has helped Atlanta become the most surveilled city in the US in large part thanks to a program called Operation Shield. Operation Shield currently boasts more than 12,800 private and public interconnected cameras monitored by the police. The private equity industry manages about $11tn globally. Yet unlike banks and other publicly listed companies, private equity firms are exempt from most financial disclosure rules, making it extremely difficult to track their assets or risks. It means people such as firefighters, nurses and teachers whose pensions are invested in private equity funds have little way of knowing if their retirement nest egg is financing police surveillance equipment, defence contractors, hospitals or coal plants.

'Here it is better not to be born': Cobalt mining for Big Tech is driving child labor, deaths in the Congo "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

During one of his many visits to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Siddharth Kara ... met a young woman sifting dirt for traces of cobalt. Priscille told him she had suffered two miscarriages and that her husband, a fellow "artisanal" miner, died of a respiratory disease. It is just one of many devastating personal accounts in Cobalt Red, a detailed expos into the hidden world of small-scale cobalt mining in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The "quaint" moniker of artisanal mining, Mr. Kara points out, belies a brutal industry where hundreds of thousands of men, women and children dig with bare hands and basic tools in toxic, perilous pits, eking out an existence on the bottom rung of the global supply chain. The miners are the first step in the race for precious metals and minerals by some of the world's most powerful companies. If you own a smartphone, tablet, laptop, e-scooter, [or] electric vehicle ... then it is a system in which you are unwittingly complicit. Around 75 per cent of the world's cobalt is mined in the DRC. The rare, silvery metal is an essential component to every lithium-ion rechargeable battery. Congolese miners ... have experienced life-changing injuries, sexual assault, physical violence, corruption, displacement and abject poverty. Major tech and EV companies extol commitments to human rights, zero-tolerance for child labor, and clean supply chains. Mr. Kara described these statements as "utterly inconsistent" with what's happening on the ground.

W.H.O. Do You Trust? "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Trust in public health has been shatteredhalf of America has lost faith in the scientific community altogether. Our current government is doubling down on World Health Organization (WHO) decrees that directly circumvent public oversight. The WHO has drafted a new global Pandemic Accord. The U.S. ambassador to the WHO, Pamela Hamamoto, on February 27 imprudently promised "The United States is committed to the Pandemic Accord." This comes immediately after the exposure of yet another disgrace undermining trust in public health institutions. It turned out the February 2020 Lancet article calling the lab origin of the SARS-CoV-2 virus a "conspiracy theory" was itself the true conspiracy, contrived behind closed doors contemporaneously with a March 2020 publication in Nature. If that coordinated media campaign was designed to conceal malfeasance by Drs. Francis Collins and Anthony Fauciwho, as leaders of America's National Institutes of Health, reportedly sent American tax dollars to fund China's dangerous gain-of-function research and circumvent Obama administration-introduced restrictionswe may be witnessing the deadliest cover-up scandal in history. News media are also beginning to acknowledge facts that refute the original reasons behind lockdowns. Despite protestations to the contrary, all signers of the Pandemic Accord clearly relinquish critical autonomy to the WHO. Most ominous is that WHO defines "public health emergency" on its own terms.

America's COVID Response Was Based on Lies "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Almost all of America's leaders have gradually pulled back their COVID mandates, requirements, and closureseven in states like California, which had imposed the most stringent and longest-lasting restrictions on the public. At the same time, the media has been gradually acknowledging the ongoing release of studies that totally refute the purported reasons behind those restrictions. This overt reversal is falsely portrayed as "learned" or "new evidence." Little acknowledgment of error is to be found. We have seen no public apology for promulgating false information, or for the vilification and delegitimization of policy experts and medical scientists like myself who spoke out correctly about data, standard knowledge about viral infections and pandemics, and fundamental biology. History's biggest public health policy failure came at the hands of those who recommended the lockdowns and those who implemented them, not those who advised otherwise. Lies were told. Those lies harmed the public. Those lies were directly contrary to the evidence, to decades of knowledge on viral pandemics, and to long-established fundamental biology. To ensure that this never happens again, government leaders, power-driven officials, and influential academics and advisors often harboring conflicts of interest must be held accountable. Investigations must proceed. Remember G.K. Chesterton's critical lesson that "Right is right, even if nobody does it. Wrong is wrong, even if everybody is wrong about it."

PETA Urges Pentagon to Stop 'Cruel' Pulsed Radiation Experiments on Animals "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals on Monday implored the U.S. military to reinstate a ban on the intentional wounding of animals in experiments and to stop radiation testing in an attempt to determine the cause of the mystery ailment popularly known as "Havana syndrome" that has afflicted U.S. government officials posted at diplomatic facilities in Washington, D.C. and several foreign countries. PETA argues that the military's decision to use live animals in testing related to Havana syndrome is "counterproductive" due to biological differences between humans and species subjected to the experiments, as well as the widespread availability of non-wounding research methods and the likelihood that radio frequency waves did not cause the mysterious ailment. The U.S. government has a long history of radiation experiments not only on animals but also on human beings. Scores of institutions, including some of North America's most prominent universities, laboratories, and hospitals hosted government and military experimentation on both volunteers and unwitting test subjects in the MK-ULTRA mind control experiments and other highly unethical and sometimes deadly programs. People suffering from Havana syndromeso named because it was first identified by U.S. and Canadian diplomats and embassy staff in the Cuban capitalexperienced what The Lancet described as "an abrupt onset of unusual clinical symptoms."

Morgen ist in Berlin Volksabstimmung zur Klimakatastrophe.Die ... "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

TUT ENDLICH WAS.

New Study Confirms: CDC Lied To Panic The Masses About COVID "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

<p><p>A new study has confirmed that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, along with the ruling class, lied to greatly overexaggerate what COVID has always been: a mere cold. Not only is there no evidence (other than the words of tyrants) that there was ever anything out of the ordinary going on, there is no evidence that the common cold was weaponized against the slave class.</p> <p>The CDC made at least 25 different statistical or numerical errors throughout the saga that resulted in the severity of the manufactured crisis being massively overstated, the paper found. Of those 25 instances of error that were identified, 20 of them greatly exaggerated the severity of the scamdemic. <a href= "https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=4381627" rel= "noopener" target="_blank">The paper</a> in question was published ahead of peer review on March 23rd <a href= "https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=4381627" rel= "noopener" target="_blank">by the Social Science Research Network (SSRN).</a></p> <p>The CDC has expressed significant concern about COVID-19 misinformation, the studys authors wrote. In order for the CDC to be a credible source of information, they must improve the accuracy of the data they provide.</p> <p>Those using discernment and logical reasoning already knew there was nothing out of the ordinary going on.</p> <p><a href= "https://www.shtfplan.com/headline-news/woman-banned-from-all-hospitals-in-the-uk-for-proving-hospitals-are-empty" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Woman BANNED From ALL HOSPITALS In The UK For Proving Hospitals Are EMPTY</a></p> <p><a href= "https://www.shtfplan.com/headline-news/armys-seattle-field-hospital-closed-after-3-days-without-seeing-a-single-patient" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Armys Seattle Field Hospital Closed After 3 Days & Without Seeing A Single Patient

But the scamdemic was a part of the agenda of control that continue to roll out. Sadly, far too many bought the lies.

One big lie came from Rochelle Walensky and other CDC officials who claimed in early 2022 that COVID is among the top five causes of death for children, citing a poorly conducted study in which the CDC gathered data rather than analyzing data directly. The CDC has still not corrected the record of this lie. The intent here was to convince parents to inject their children with an experimental gene therapy drug for a disease that, in all likelihood doesnt even exist and presents an almost zero percent chance of actually being deadly.</p> <p><a href= "https://www.shtfplan.com/headline-news/right-now-im-scared-cdc-director-chokes-back-tears-as-she-fearmongers-impending-doom" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Right Now Im Scared CDC Director Chokes Back Tears As She Fearmongers Impending Doom</a></p> <p>...</p></p>

Two 81-Year-Old Women Set Out on Epic Trip to See the World in 80 Days

Ever since the publication of Jules Verne's Around the World in Eighty Days in 1872, the book has lit up the imaginations of travelers for centuries. But to make it even more adventurousand on-brandwhat if those who took up the challenge of circumnavigating the globe in 80 days were actually in their 80s? Meet Sandy Hazelip and Ellie Hamby, two octogenarians inspired by this timeless novel who decided to set foot on all seven continents in a little under three months.

Though this quest is undoubtedly epic, this isn't Hazelip and Hamby's first adventure together. The two women actually met as they were traveling through Zambia over 20 years ago, bonding over their love for adventure and forming a lifelong friendship. I said Ellie, don't you think it would be fun for us to go around the world in 80 days at age 80?' Hazelip recalled in an interview with CBS Mornings.

In honor of their 80th birthdays, they wanted to launch their trip two years ago; but, due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, they decided to delay their trip. On January 11, 2023, they left their home in Dallas, Texas, and traveled to their first destinationAntarticawhich they reached by crossing the Drake Passage on a boat.

We don't travel first class, Hazelip says matter-of-factly. And so when we have other ladies, especially who say, Oh, I would love to travel with you two,' the first thing I always do is look at their hands. If they are well-manicured, they do not want to travel with us.

After Antarctica, their travels took them to the remote Easter Island. After having to cancel a portion of their trip due to the political turmoil in Peru, they chose to give Argentina a shot, enjoying a tango show during their time there. Their route then took them halfway across the world, and after a museum-filled layover in Madrid, they arrived in Lapland, Finland, where they visited the Arctic Circle and marveled at the Aurora Borealis. We saw the Northern Lights in all their beautiful display, even with a full moon lessening some of the Aurora brightness. Again, we stood outside in the snow at -4 degrees Fahrenheit temps, but it was worth it all, they wrote in their...

How ZeroSync Hopes To Reduce The Costs Of Validating Bitcoin Nodes "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Using zero-knowledge proofs, ZeroSync seeks to radically reduce the computational costs of bootstrapping a fully-validating Bitcoin client.

This is an opinion editorial by Shinobi, a self-taught educator in the Bitcoin space and tech-oriented Bitcoin podcast host.

Zero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs) are something that have been discussed in this space for over a decade. Even Satoshi Nakamoto themselves was aware of them as a primitive that could be used, and the idea of applying them to Bitcoin was discussed as early as 2010 when they were still active.

In my mind, they have always been one of the potential "long-term" features of Bitcoin that never really had a solid, concrete implementation but could wind up panning out and creating an enormous amount of value and utility for the work put into implementing them. Who wouldn't think that cryptographically proving that some statement is true, or that you possess some information without revealing it, is very valuable? Especially when you can do so for very complicated things with relatively small proofs?

Complicated and large smart contracts/scripts to lock bitcoin with in the end necessitate putting proportionally-large pieces of witness data on the blockchain in order to spend those coins. That can either be literally large amounts of data, or it can also be data that is expensive to compute and verify. This is a conventionally-held tradeoff of blockchains: The more complicated the condition you want to require to spend coins, the more expensive to verify or more data is required to spend them.

ZKPs have always been held up as a way to change that, allowing highly-complicated script conditions to be proven with a small or constant amount of data that, when verified, shows definitively that those conditions were met. This is because of the fundamental asymmetry between proving and verifying using ZKPs.

To give a concrete example that is as simple as possible, ring signatures are a very basic form of ZKP. The idea is to provide a signature provably made by one key within a large group of keys without revealing exactly which one. By properly defining a signature algorithm, a single signature can be produced that can be verified against the entire set of public keys and shown to have been produced by one of them but obscuring which one.

That, at a very high level, is how ZKPs work. You construct a protocol to prove something, that includes a way for the person asserting a fact to provide a proof and the person to which they are asserting it to verify it. In the case of ring signatures, it is a signature algorithm that validates against a set of public keys without specifying which one. That is the key point: You prove something without actually revealing the information that would conventionally prove it (in this case, a signature from...

Two Flight Attendants Let Their Love Story Soar and Got Married in Front of a Plane

Wedding in Front of Plane

A couples wedding venue can help tell the story of their love. For Audrey and Alex Chowbay, their wedding at the Lone Star Flight Museum in Houston, Texas, was a fitting choice. They fell in love during their in-flight training as flight attendants. In gorgeous photos captured by Kelsey Nicole Photography, the couple said their vows just under the cockpit of a plane, making the ceremony as meaningful as it was unique.

The couple met in 2018 at the flight attendant training with over 300 people in attendance. Despite the large crowd, they found each other. Audrey introduced herself to Alex, and the two quickly became friends before realizing there was something more between them.

The training lasted three weeks, and Audrey and Alex spent nearly the whole time together. They were smitten, but at the end of the training found that they were stationed in different cities. Alex and Audrey made the distance workAlex visited oftenand they were eventually placed in Houston together.

Alex had the ring to propose to Audrey for a year and a half, originally planning to pop the question with their families present. Unfortunately, the pandemic nixed that idea, so she waited until Christmas Eve in 2020 to propose in front of her family with Audreys family on FaceTime. The ring was disguised as a gift.

With their wedding slated for September 3, 2022, the women had started to look for venues in the Houston area. They wanted something that felt different from other weddings they had been to. When they finally decided to focus on a shared love of flying, Alex and Audrey landed at the perfect place.

We're both obviously in aviation, but both of our families are also in aviation. We both just grew up with airplanes around us, Alex said. So I was like, How cool would it be if we found a way to pull this off?'

The couple worked with TailoredxTwo Wedding Planning, and the venue provided a conceptual jumping-off point for the rest of the nuptials. This included plane-shaped place cards and a welcome sign reminiscent of a passpo...

Polygraph Expert on Fight or Flight and Fauci "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

7109E9D1-91BF-4A02-BC33-2D54D0FB1DADAlways happy to share Lou Conte's SubStack with readers. Lou is a polygraph expert. Check out his expert analysis of Dr. Anthony Fauci, excerpted below. Or read the full article and skip straight to his TRUTH BE TOLD SubStack.

By Louis Conte

Many are aware of the Fight or Flight response. It is the response built into our nervous system that is activated when we encounter a threat. As a polygraph examiner, it is the physiology associated with fight or flight that we are measuring in determining whether the examinee is being truthful or deceptive during a polygraph.

When the brain perceives a threat, the fight or flight response (which is also referred to as the Freeze, Fight or Flight Response) is activated so that we are prepared to run or engage in combat. The amygdala, an almond-shaped structure deep within our brain, triggers the release of stress hormones into the blood stream. Breathing increases but also becomes shallower. The heart beats faster, pumping blood to major muscle groups in the arms and legs to prepare for strenuous physical activity - but away from internal and digestive organs. Sometimes this causes people to vomit. The bladder may relax, and I have observed some people literally pee in their pants. The mouth goes dry. The eyes also dry out, which causes the rate of blinking to increase. Blood rushes from hands and feet, leaving them cold and sweaty. Perspiration increases throughout the body. Arms and legs may tremble while tension increases in the arms, legs, neck, and shoulders. The mind hyper focuses, pupils dilate, and Tunnel Vision may result. I have observed that peoples eyes dart around, perhaps to locate escape routes. On one occasion, I observed a man faint during a polygraph while experiencing fight or flight because he had been caught in a lie.

In this scene from the Sopranos, we see poor Adrianna La Cervas expression of fight or flight response in clear detail when she is unexpectedly pulled into a meeting with law enforcement.

ZEBEDEE Introduces Instant Global Payments Using The Bitcoin Lightning Network "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Along with the ability to earn bitcoin, users will now be able to easily and instantly transfer their bitcoin across jurisdictions.

Users in the U.S., UK and EU can now instantly send money using the ZEBEDEE platform to the Philippines and Brazil, thanks to leading partnerships with Pouch.ph, and Bipa respectively. Based on the open Lightning Network, ZEBEDEE users can send and receive funds from any Lightning wallet or service. With this new announcement, ZEBEDEE accounts will be able to connect directly to the platforms of the announced partners, similarly to open-banking standards where users connect a bank account once and can seamlessly move money to and from the account.

For example, a user in Brazil can earn Bitcoin playing a game like Solitaire, then instantly transfer that money to Bipa and exchange it for Brazilian reais, the press release sent to Bitcoin Magazine describes, showcasing the effective interoperability that Bitcoin provides.

Andr Neves, CTO and Co-Founder of ZEBEDEE, described how this is a necessary step for the growth of the company, as well as Bitcoin, saying In order for Bitcoin to take its place as the native money of the Internet, which really means the main form of money for the modern age, we have to make it so intuitive and simple to use for the average person that it ceases to be about Bitcoin, its just global money. Our new feature provides a major step in that direction, as it gives our users the ability to select high-quality global providers with the push of a button and start sending instant transactions across the world in seconds.

"We are thrilled to be a launch partner of ZEBEDEE for this new feature for borderless transactions, as it aligns perfectly with our vision for financial inclusion of the Philippines, Ethan Rose, CEO of Pouch.ph said. The Lightning Network is without a doubt the best tool for the job and, together with ZEBEDEE, we can continue pushing this technology forward to let our customers move funds between their bank accounts and any Lightning wallet in the world more seamlessly than ever.

Luiz Parreira, CEO and Co-Founder of Bipa, reiterated these points, stating that The remarkably simple new user experience created by ZEBEDEE is a powerful move towards broadening our reach to more users in Brazil.

The new features bring ZEBEDEE beyond the realm of simply earning bitcoin, and are a reminder of the incredible innovation still yet to come on top of Bitcoin.

A Monumental Inflatable Installation by Pneuhaus Celebrates Interconnectivity in Vibrant Color "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

All images Pneuhaus, shared with permission

A spectrum of glowing light pulses through 23 inflated columns that ascend from the ground in Pneuhauss (previously) new public installation, illuminating an invisible world just beneath our feet. For Grove, the Rhode Island-based design collective drew inspiration from an ancient biological structure known as the mycorrhizal network. Often referred to as the wood wide web, the underground system is characterized by a complex symbiotic relationship between certain types of fungi and the roots of trees, enabling them to communicate with one another and share nutrients.

Groves inflatable, branching arches invite visitors to gather and wander through a colorful, forest-like installation, drawing parallels between the web and the support networks communities rely on to nurture unity and growth. Nature builds in relationships, Pneuhaus says, (and) for Grove, we followed that lesson to create a transportive space designed to excite and support community gathering.

To construct the complex, organic shape, Pneuhaus utilized a unique algorithm inspired by the way slime molds move around in search of food. Integrating this kind of living logic enabled us to design a form that expresses a truly root-like connectivity, they say.

How Build On Bitcoin Space Is Bringing Education And Mining To Thailand "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

The founder of Bangkoks Build On Bitcoin Space discusses Southeast Asias Bitcoin-only community and renewable mining in Thailand.

In this conversation, Piccolo from the Build On Bitcoin Space in Bangkok, Thailand joined me to chat about Bitcoin adoption in Southeast Asia, where the culture and language differ greatly from those of the many westerners likely reading this article. However, Thais get Bitcoin and there is a growing Bitcoin-only community there that might surprise you.

Beyond that, we dove into how Piccolo runs a weekly Bitcoin meetup and monthly workshops in Bangkok and his background in the tech startup industry in Asia. We also talked about Bitcoin mining in Thailand using plant waste.

Thanks for joining me! Before we get into questions about the Build On Bitcoin Space and Bitcoin in Thailand, can we hear a bit about your background?

I was born in Thailand but I spent most of my life in Southern California. My career started with a job in industrial manufacturing after completing my undergraduate degree in biochemistry from UCLA. I didnt want to go to medical school, after hearing from my friends that their lives were rather miserable. So I ended up selling electronic connectors for wire poles in Vietnam.

Out of pure chance, I took the GMAT, because I was told that getting an MBA was good for career changes. Good for people who want to be in business but dont quite know what profession was right for them. The fiat world is all about testing, and I got a good enough score so I ended up at Northwesterns Kellogg MBA program. My internship at Morgan Stanley during my MBA kickstarted my finance and fintech career. I got a full-time offer and joined Morgan Stanley in New York doing investment banking and corporate finance, involving mostly mergers, acquisitions, capital restructurings, IPOs, etc. After three years with Morgan Stanley, I got laid off along with 75% of my associate class due to the dot-com bubble and the first real estate bubble.

I was in Hong Kong at the time, and decided to start a boutique advisory firm with some ex-colleagues and friends, doing investment banking work and undercutting the bigger firms by localizing our services in Southeast Asia. After almost a decade and a half of doing that, I retired but I was unable to sleep. There was a whisper in my head that I needed to do this fintech thing. I wanted to cut out the middleman and build a platform that matches business owners and borrowers with individual inves...

10 Useful Gifts for Mom That Shes Sure to Cherish

Useful Gifts for Mom

Want to get your mom something that will make her life a little bit easier? If that's the case, then maybe you're looking for a thoughtful gift that she can incorporate into her life. Whether it's a new utensil to help her out in the kitchen or a stationery set that organizes her office, these practical products can make her routine much more efficient (and hopefully more fun, too!). Fortunately, My Modern Met Store has put together a special selection of useful gifts for moms that yours is sure to love.

The Splatypus, for instance, is an ideal companion for anyone who enjoys jam on toast. Its flexible design will make it easy to scrape the last bit of marmalade from any jar, sparing your mom's wrist from the struggle, and making sure that no food goes to waste. Similarly, if your mom enjoys baking, the Mon Cherry set of measuring spoons is a great little tool. It includes four cherry-shaped measuring spoons (1 tablespoon, 1/2 tablespoon, 1 teaspoon, and 1/2 teaspoon) with a leaf that doubles as an egg separatorideal for anyone with whimsical taste.

On the other hand, if your mom needs some organization in her office, the Classic Characters: Women Trailblazers page flags set is as nifty as it is inspirational. Featuring the portraits of four famous women (Joan of Arc, Harriet Tubman,...

Understanding Espresso: A Six-Part Series Explaining What It Takes to Pull the Ideal Shot "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

It doesnt take long to learn how to pull a shot of espresso. Search for that phrase on Youtube, and youll find hours worth of sound instruction, most of it in the form of brief and easily digestible videos. All of them cover the same basic stages of the process: grinding, dosing, tamping, and brewing. When examined closely, each of those stages reveals a formidable body of knowledge to master. If any one Youtuber can lay claim to having mastered all of them, it must be James Hoffmann, previously featured here on Open Culture for his videos on subjects from deep-fried coffee to the classic Bialetti Moka Express. In the six-part series above, he offers viewers an overview of all they need to know to achieve a true understanding of espresso.

Episode by episode, Hoffmann explains how to choose the right dose of coffee, ratio between the amount of ground and liquid coffee, brew time, grind size, brew temperature, and pressure. Of course, there is no single universally correct setting or amount of any of these things: each is a variable with its own range of effects on the shot of espresso ultimately yielded.

Fox News was still setting up to cover Americas latest school shooting when this woman had taken enough "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Alarming Overprescription Patterns for Older Adults on Antidepressants "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

A new study that will soon be published in General Hospital Psychiatry found that many older adults who take antidepressants are also prescribed multiple other medications simultaneously, known as polypharmacy. In fact, the study showed that 73% of these older adults were prescribed multiple medications. Additionally, more than half of these patients were prescribed other drugs that could potentially cause problems when combined with their antidepressants, referred to as potentially inappropriate medications (PIMs).

The researchers also found that certain factors made it more likely for an older adult to be prescribed multiple medications, such as being older, unmarried, living in a rural area, having a non-western background, or having physical illnesses. However, having a history of using antidepressants or having a psychiatric diagnosis did not necessarily make it more likely for someone to be prescribed multiple medications.

This study highlights the importance of being aware of the potential risks of polypharmacy, especially in older adults, and the need for healthcare providers to consider the medications they prescribe to their patients carefully. The authors explain:

A high prevalence of concurrent use of polypharmacy with antidepressants and PIMs with antidepressants was observed with a proportion of 73% and 56%, respectively. Socially disadvantaged and physically and mentally vulnerable older adults appeared more likely to have polypharmacy and PIMs use with antidepressants.

According to the authors, nearly 1 in 10 older adults deals with depressive symptoms. Antidepressants are commonly the first line of treatment for such patients. Additionally, many of these older adults also have other physical and mental health issues for which drugs are often prescribed. As a result, many older adults take multiple medications at once, which increases the likelihood of PIMs. The current work aimed to examine polypharmacy and PIM in adults aged 65 and older.

The authors examined Denmarks Civil Registration System data to accomp...

The US Arms Control and Disarmament Agency DisappearedBut Is It Really Gone? "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

By the author of The Preppers Guide to Post-Disaster Communications and The Faithful Prepper

I was rereading a bit of None Dare Call it Treason the other day, and came across Public Law 87-297. This law was passed back in 1961, becoming US government policy. You can read the law here. It was later repealed (it looks like in 1991), but I think there are some important takeaways here.

This law literally created a US Arms Control and Disarmament Agency that youve probably never heard of but will cause a lot of current happenings to make a lot more sense once youre aware of its existence.

What does Public Law 87-297 say?

Here are some of the excerpts from Public Law 87-297 that you may find of interest. Refer to the document in the link above to learn more about each of these points.

An ultimate goal of the United States is a world which is free from the scourge of war and the dangers and burdens of armaments; in which the use of force has been subordinated to the rule of law

The dangers and burdens of armaments? So we were actively working to eliminate the Second Amendment and everything behind it? Also, how do you enforce rule of law if nobody has any guns? Maybe we should clone narwhal man from England. He seemed to understand a thing or two.

It is the purpose of this Act to provide impetus toward this goal by creating a new agency of peace to deal with the problem of reduction and control of armaments looking toward ultimate world disarmament.

They were not only literally talking about the creation of a world government (if only one group has the weapons, guess whos soon going to start making all the rules?), but they were also talking about using it to eliminate all weaponry from the face of the earth other than from those who are the rulers of the new world order.

Sec 2. (a) states that they are conducting research on arms control and disarmament policy formation.

What is the aim of this research? To learn how to best take away your guns. This would encompass all research that looks at how to use propaganda to sway the opinions of the American public, research that looks at how much legislation people are willing to tolerate, how to turn peoples attention away from the current thing so that it...

Listen to The Epic of Gilgamesh Being Read in its Original Ancient Language, Akkadian "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Creative Commons image by Osama Shukir Muhammed Amin

Long ago, in the ancient civilization of Mesopotamia, Akkadian was the dominant language. And, for centuries, it remained the lingua franca in the Ancient Near East. But then it was gradually squeezed out by Aramaic, and it faded into oblivion once Alexander the Great Hellenized (Greekified) the region.

Now, 2,000+ years later, Akkadian is making a small comeback. At Cambridge University, Dr. Martin Worthington, an expert in Babylonian and Assyrian grammar, has started recording readings of poems, myths and other texts in Akkadian, including The Epic of Gilgamesh. This clip gives you a taste of what Gilgamesh, one of the earliest known works of literature, sounds like in its mother tongue. Or, you can jump into the full collection of readings right here, courtesy of the University of London.

Chris Carrabba Goes on Undercover Boss to Meet Rest of Dashboard Confessional "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

BOCA RATON, Fla. Dashboard Confessional frontman Chris Carrabba will don a disguise and hang out with the rest of his band on an upcoming episode of the CBS reality show Undercover Boss, confirmed shocked sources.

I was so excited for this chance to get to know some of my employees, uh, I mean bandmates, Carrabba explained while simultaneously scribbling furiously into a diary and staring into a mirror without blinking. You might know me as Dashboard Confessionals lead singer, rhythm guitarist, and the only member allowed on the tour bus. But, more importantly, Im also the bands CEO. I went on Undercover Boss because these guys, theyre doin a hell of a job back there and I wanted to give them a pat on the back. And also fire their asses if they talk shit about my new fedora!

Although Carrabba was thrilled to appear on CBSs long-running primetime series, the other members of Dashboard Confessional were confused by the arrangement.

I found it shocking that he apparently doesnt know who I am, considering Ive been in the band since 2003, opined bassist Scott Schoenbeck. If he really wants to meet us, I wish he did it as himself and without all this bullshit. We all knew it was Chris with that fake mustache pretending to be a VH1 intern. It was pretty obvious considering he spent the entire time talking about how Dashboard has such incredible vocals and lyrics, but that the lead guitar, bass, and drums are mixed too loudly on the records. If he wanted to hide his identity, he shouldve at least taken that ridiculous hat off.

Although the episode has yet to air, CBS is reportedly pleased with it and eager to invite more bands to appear on the show.

Chris makes for absolutely riveting television, exclaimed Undercover Boss executive producer Murray Weiner. Most of the bosses who come on the show are on their best behavior, so it was refreshingly authentic to have this little pretty man come on and berate his drummer for drinking one of his LaCroix. We definitely want to have other frontmen on the show. Wed love to introduce Adam Levine to Maroon 5, for example. Even better, we could bring Trent Reznor to the factory where they built his touring lineup!

As of press time, news of Carrabbas appearance had prompted the band The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus to confirm they will be on an upcoming episode of Naked and Afraid.

Is Jimmy Fallon a lizard person? Yes, Jimmy Fallon is a reptile "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Jimmy Fallon is a reptile. He is openly a lizard man!

INTERNET CHRONICLE EXCLUSIVE: A rare look at the empty husk of a man

NEW YORKYes, Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon has a weird energy. His interviews often have a constrictive vibe where there seems to be some pointless hurry to say everything in a fast jazzy jabber, in which not a moment can breathe. Yes, he plays peek-a-boo with guests, and hides behind his hands. Of course he does. That is old news. In this article, we are setting that aside as we explore the overwhelming probability that behind his funny mask, Jimmy Fallon is a hollow, creepy person, and lizard-like in demeanor.

WATCH CLOSELY: Theres a ton of cute Jimmy Fallon gifs online, but none focus on his snake-like flit of the tongue. Fallon routinely flits his tongue when he thinks no one is watching, the way snakes breathe.

Its a tough job, but you dont have to be perfect. Leno was down and dirty, but you watched it anyway since he was great. Conan was Conan, played like hes on stilts. Far from perfect, Johnny Carson himself was arguably the most flawed of all tonight show hosts, until you really start to look at Jimmy.

Tattoo Artist Promises to Respond to Year-Old DMs for Twenty-Seventh Time This Week "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

PITTSBURGH Popular tattoo artist Lee Steinbeck took to their Instagram stories to apologize for neglecting their unread DMs for nearly the thirtieth time in a seven-day span, sources who are getting tired of this shit confirm.

Please, please, just be patient with me, you guys. Im so sorry for leaving you hanging. If youve sent me a booking request via DM, I promise Ill get back to you as soon as I can, Steinbeck said to their 12,000 followers only minutes after their previous apology. Im just one person trying to essentially run a business, and I just joined a softball league so between practice, games, and time at the batting cage Im stretched pretty thin. Plus as you already know, my pet turtle is potentially going to be featured in a calendar, and the logistics of that are taking a toll on me. I know Im on here all the time making excuses, but please know that Ill be messaging everyone back to get you booked. Im so bad at this, really.

Steinbecks prospective clients were not entirely moved by their requests for patience and understanding.

Look, man, I get it, you cant be working 100 hours a week. But I see Lee on stories apologizing about not responding to messages literally four or five times a day, every fucking day, said potential client Andrew Altman. I sent them a message a year and a half ago asking to get a piece of flash theyd already drawn, and never heard back. I kind of cant help but wonder if it would be easier for them to reply to people who are legitimately offering to give them money if they didnt spend hours upon hours creating heartfelt pleas and apologies, and instead used that time to send a simple sounds good, when works for you to the throngs of prospects in their inbox.

Sasha Palmer, a historian who works at the Three Rivers Tattoo Museum, weighed in with her expertise regarding this kind of behavior.

While I understand why clients are frustrated with the direct message model of booking, and the inability for artists to message back in a timely manner, the truth of the matter is that this sort of thing has been happening as long as body modification has been part of society, Palmer said while gesturing to several framed papyrus fragments on the wall behind her desk. Even in ancient populations, sought-after artists and practitioners became increasingly impossible to contact. We have first-hand accounts of folks looking to receive traditional cultural tattoos expressing their anger that the only person who did said tattoos would disappear for months at a time, and then completely blow off the queue for the equivalent of a Friday the 13th special.

At press time, Steinbeck announced that they will now be using Jotform for booking requests and asked for a meager 52 to 104-week window to reply.

Opinion: Nu-Metal Albums Just Dont Hit the Same When They Arent Edited Wal-Mart Versions "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Whether they say it outright or not, people who claim to enjoy Nu-Metal in 2023 are only saying so because of nostalgia. Hell, they arent even getting the best of what Nu-Metal had to offer when listening to classics like Godsmack or Coal Chamber on Spotify or iTunes. Because to the best of my knowledge, those platforms only provide the unedited, profanity-laced versions of Nu-Metal classics, presented the way the artists truly intended. And that shit is whack.

Its impossible for me to believe anyone could truly enjoy Limp Bizkits Significant Other through anything other than a portable CD player with an edited CD your parents bought you from Wal-Mart. Everything is what, exactly, Mr. Durst?

Think about it in a horror film sense. Nothing compares to classics like Halloween or Blair Witch Project because those directors didnt need to show all the gore and splatter. No, they allow the viewer to manifest the terror in their own minds. Now, think about that with Nu-Metal. When Sully from Godsmack says, Better ____in Go Away! in their hit song Whatever, I believe the vagueness of the edit leaves the power of the profanity in the listeners hands.

I mean, is he saying, Better DOGSHIT Go Away? or Better SUCKMYBALLS Go Away? Better FUCKINPISS? Who knows? But the mystery works better than being in your face about it.

Say youre at a small office party and youre asked to put on some tunes. Everyones had their fun, so its time to get the real party started with some rock music. Yall Want a Single? by Korn comes on. After about 15 seconds into the song, you see the horrified look of your boss and coworkers as they look at your bluetooth speaker. Hes clearly yelling Say FUCK That! Now youre jobless all because you didnt play the know why Wal-Mart wanted to protect you from those dirty words all those years ago.

If youre going to do nu-metal, do it right and keep all those cuss words out of it. That sort of profanity always took away from the truly deep, heartfelt meaning of the genre in the first place.

Real Life Willy Wonka? This Meat Processing Plant Owner Only Employees Small Children "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Whether youve read the books or seen the movies, there isnt a single person alive who doesnt wish they could visit Willy Wonkas fantastical chocolate factory in real life. But what if you could visit the next best thing?

We recently took a tour of a meat processing plant in Arkansas, and the sheer amount of children employed here will make you feel like youre strolling along the chocolate river with all the Oompa Loompas. They say a little bit of magic goes into every piece of hardwood smoked bacon, and these kids are making it happen, with fingers small enough to unclog the meat grinders.

Now before anyone freaks out, the CEO (a colorful character I might add) assured me that these children are here of their own volition and not purchased from a local orphanage, despite what some investigative journalists claim. Hes just a billionaire recluse who keeps a tight lid on his food factory with little to no oversight. Sound familiar?

Look at them in their little Tyvek suits! Its just like the scene where theyre zapping the candy bar into the TV, except with more pig entrails. The real highlight is to see them sing and dance, especially after each workplace accident. Its surprisingly effective. Nothing will distract you from watching someone get impaled on a meat hook like several eight-year-olds hitting the griddy. Hats off to the boss man for cultivating such a whimsical killing floor.

When you think about it, a workforce of vulnerable, impressionable children is the most efficient way to operate a windowless warehouse of animal carcasses. Do you think a grown adult would thrive in this environment? Theyd probably just try to eat everything in sight and get gout and end up bloated Violet Beauregarde. Not only that but employing a small army of kids slashes operating costs in half when the CEO can just pay them in whatever leftover meat scraps dont make it to the packaging department.

When you think about it, the enigmatic proprietor of this factory slaughterhouse is doing these kids a favor. Like how Willy Wonka rescued the Oompa-Loompas from the vicious predators that stalked Oompaland, these kiddos are safe from our nations dangerous public schools, movie theaters, and playgrounds.

Though if you too get to take the grand tour, dont let the kids trick you into drinking out of the river. It wasnt chocolate like they said.

Man Asks if Hes Wrong for What He Said About His Fathers Mistress "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Well, I guess I can understand why a comment like this would upset someone, couldnt you?

But before we jump to conclusions and condemn this man, lets get all the details, shall we?

Read on to see what happened in this story from Reddits Am I the A**hole? page.

AITA for calling my moms treatment of my dads mistress gracious and upsetting my fiancee?

A few years ago my dad had a pretty public affair (they thought they were being discreet but everyone knew) with a woman about 15 years younger than him. My father was up until this point a very stoic unemotional person and this was totally out of character, and everyone was talking about it. He ended up leaving my mom for her.

My mom was totally ice cold during all of this and even as her son I cant gauge if it hurt her or not. She had zero reaction. Shes never said anything bad about him. Even when I tried getting her to open up she just wouldnt (but this is around the time I began dating my fiance and she doesnt like her and began to ice me out as well)

My dad married his affair partner recently, and I proposed to my fiancee. We had an engagement party and it was probably the first time we were all together. MIL and her friends h**e my dad and his fiancee, because I think they worry about their husbands getting ideas.

MIL made a snarky comment about how when men leave for a younger woman isnt she supposed to be prettier, and my dad might have done it wrong because my mom is much more attractive. All of her friends laughed and my dads wife looked like she was d**ng inside.

My mom told my MIL to stop and she doesnt like women who pit women against each other, and said his wife is beautiful. When we walked away, I told my mom th...

School Nutrition Turns to Junk Food on a Plate "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

For the first time in history, students will be able to get Kraft Heinzs Lunchables directly from their school at lunchtime marking a major victory for Kraft and a tragedy for the students who eat them. By securing a regular spot in the lunch line, Kraft Heinz gets a guaranteed boost in profits, but the children receive more ultraprocessed junk food in lieu of real food.

The politics of school lunch just took a turn for the worse, Robert Lustig, professor emeritus of pediatrics, division of endocrinology, at UCSF, posted on LinkedIn. Are you sure you want Kraft Heinz (home of the high-fructose-corn-syrup ketchup) dictating your kid's nutrition?1

Lunchables With Improved Nutrition Coming to Schools

Lunchables will be available to students at U.S. schools beginning in the 2023 to 2024 school year. Kraft Heinz told CNN Business the highly processed meals would be available throughout the U.S. to all school administrators to offer to students either for purchase or at no cost via the National School Lunch Program (NSLP).2

To get an idea of the potential scale of this rollout, nearly 30 million children in public and private schools and child care institutions receive lunch from NSLP daily.3 It appears the products had to be reformulated to meet NSLP guidelines, and Kraft Heinz set up a new website dedicated to promoting their Lunchables that are built for schools.

The site Kraft Heinz Away From Home includes sell sheets and nutrition advertisements for its two cafeteria-geared products turkey and cheddar cracker stackers and extra cheesy pizza. Fuel your school with new Lunchables, now available for the 2023-2024 school year! one ad states.

They meet the NSLP requirements with 1.5 ounces of meat and 1 ounce of whole grain and are a good source of protein. Theyre always refrigerated and never frozen for great-tasting flavor.4

Kraft Heinz, which has partnered with the School Nutrition Association,5 a nonprofit group that represents school food workers, also appears to have plans to get more of its products into school lunches, via their KH K-12 Portfolio. It includes pictures of their processed junk food such as CapriSun juice boxes, ranch dressing, pizza and chicken nuggets.

Children need nutrients so they can grow, develop and focus on learning instead of thinking about the food they need. Ultimately, they need to be able to concentrate in the classroom so they can succeed in school and be prepared to enter the workforce as adults, the Kraft...

How Aging Affects Mitochondria in Brain Cells "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Editors Note: This article is a reprint. It was originally published July 12, 2018.

In recent years, it's become increasingly apparent that most of what we refer to as health and disease really links back to the function of your mitochondria tiny organelles inside your cells that play an important role in the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), required for all biological functions.

If your mitochondria are not functioning well, your risk for chronic degenerative diseases will radically increase. Not surprisingly, optimization of mitochondria is also vital for life extension strategies.

Your brain, being the most energy-dependent organ (consuming up to 20 percent of the energy used by your entire body1), is therefore particularly susceptible to impaired energy production due to faulty mitochondria, and researchers now suggest this appears to be what makes the human brain susceptible to age-related diseases in the first place. As reported by Salk News:2

"Salk researchers used a new method to discover that cells from older individuals had impaired mitochondria the power stations of cells and reduced energy production. A better understanding of the effects of aging on mitochondria could reveal more about the link between mitochondrial dysfunction and age-related brain diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's."

Mitochondrial Dysfunction and Age-Related Brain Disease

The research3 in question, published in the May issue of Cell Reports, supports "a bioenergetic explanation for the high susceptibility of the brain to aging." With age, your mitochondria tend to decrease both in number and function, and this age-related dysfunction is caused by impaired ATP production and an increase in oxidative damage. According to the authors:

"Mitochondrial dysfunction is characterized by the loss of the mitochondrial membrane potential, which is directly linked to a loss of energy generated through the electron transport chain that performs oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS); the failure of OXPHOS is believed to set the stage for the development of age-related disorders.

Interestingly, inherited mitochondrial diseases that can be caused by mutations in genes encoded on the nuclear DNA, which encodes the vast majority of mitochondrial genes, or in genes that are encoded in mtDNA are often associated with neurodegenerative phenotypes, indicating a particular vulnerability of brain neurons to mitochondrial defects.

Similarly, the human brain is an organ that is strongly affec...

Turns Out, Ebola Likely Leaked From a Lab as Well "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

In December 2013, Zaire Ebola hemorrhagic fever broke out in Guinea and over the next three years spread across West Africa, ultimately killing 11,323 people.1 While Ebola epidemics occur on a near-annual basis, this was the largest and deadliest in history.2

Of the five Ebola viruses known to cause disease in humans, Zaire Ebolavirus, first identified in Zaire in 1976, is the most dangerous, with a fatality rate ranging between 53% and 88%,3 depending on the variant.

The virus leads to severe immunosuppression, but most deaths are attributed to dehydration caused by gastric problems. Early signs of infection include nonspecific flu-like symptoms and sudden onset of fever, diarrhea, headache, muscle pain, vomiting and abdominal pains. Other less common symptoms include sore throat, rashes and internal/external bleeding.

As the infection sets in, shock, cerebral edema (fluid on the brain), coagulation disorders and secondary bacterial infections may occur. Hemorrhaging tends to begin four to five days after onset of the initial symptoms, which includes bleeding in the throat, gums, lips and vagina. Vomiting blood, excreting tar-like feces indicative of gastrointestinal bleeding, and liver- and/or multi-organ failure can also occur.

The Virus Hunter That Assigned Zoonotic Origin

According to a paper4 published at the end of December 2014, the Ebola epidemic was traced back to a 2-year-old boy in Meliandou, Guinea, named Emile Ouamouno. Supposedly, the boy had come in contact with an infected fruit bat in a hollowed-out tree.

This, even though no Ebolavirus RNA was ever detected in any of the bat samples collected from the area. Interestingly enough, the senior author on that paper was Fabian Leendertz, a renowned virus hunter with the Robert Koch Institute in Germany.

Leendertz was also a member of the World Health Organization team that investigated the origin of COVID-19.5 As you may recall, they also concluded, without evidence, that SARS-CoV-2 was most likely of zoonotic origin and dismissed the lab leak theory as not worthy of further consideration.

Lab Leak Suspected From the Start

However, just as with SARS-CoV-2, suspicions and rumors that the Ebola outbreak was the result of a lab leak were present from the start. Some scientists even suspected the virus might be a weaponized form of Ebola. As noted in a 2014 paper in the Journal of Molecular Biochemistry:6

Peter Duttons review of War & Peace: Needs more detail "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

The Opposition Leader has revealed his thoughts on Leo Tolstoys War and Peace, saying the Russian author was being tricky with the reading public by only publishing 1,225 pages of detail on the impact of the Napoleonic era on early 19th Century Tsarist Russia.

If Tolstoy wants to be taken seriously as a writer then he needs to explain the detail, Dutton wrote in a review of War on Peace for a Liberal Party newsletter.

Its all well and good to provide a story of five families as they navigate life following the French invasion. But at just 587,000 words, Tolstoy refuses to provide even the most basic information. He is treating his readers like mugs.

The Liberal leader said Tolstoy had made a catastrophic mistake in not providing clear and complete information. There are more questions than answers in this book, and I call on Leo Tolstoy to do the right thing and release further information for the benefit of the reading public.

Next month Dutton will review the Bible.

Operation Choke Point 2.0 is a term coined by Coin Metrics co-founder Nic Carter to refer to an apparently coordinated effort to discourage banks from holding crypto deposits or providing banking services to crypto firms on the basis of safety and soundness for the banking system.

Russia Says It Will Respond Accordingly If UK Supplies Ukraine With Depleted Uranium Tank Rounds "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

This article was originally published by J.D. Heyes at Natural News.

Based on international law, it was wrong for Russia to invade Ukraine, despite the latters reputation for harboring Nazis and Nazi sentiment. Ukraine wasnt threatening Russia, and besides, Russian forces annexed (illegally) the Crimea region from Ukraine in 2014, so clearly Moscow is the aggressor here.

But having said that, NATO countries appear to be sleepwalking into a much broader, far deadlier (and perhaps planet-ending) conflict with Russia, a significant power with thousands of nuclear warheads at its disposal.

According to Breitbart News on Tuesday, the European Union has agreed to send one million artillery shells to Ukraine at a significant cost of two billion Euros, while the United Kingdom has confirmed that it will be donating main battle tanks to the country and will also provide depleted uranium anti-tank rounds.

After lengthy negotiations, the European Defence Agency has finally agreed on a much-anticipated arms procurement deal between EU member states and Norway. This deal will involve the acquisition and delivery of one million 155mm artillery rounds to Ukraine, the report said, even as Russia appears to have a limitless supply, according to frontline Ukrainian troops.

The cost of the arms procurement deal for the one million 155mm artillery rounds to Ukraine is 2 billion ($2.15 billion), which will be divided into two tranches. The first tranche, worth one billion euros, will be utilized to compensate EU member states for releasing shells from their own military reserves, with the objective of delivering them within two months. The second tranche of funding will be paid to armaments factories in European nations to manufacture new shells for shipment to Ukraine, the report noted further.

Moira Deeming narrowly avoids promotion "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Controversial Victorian Liberal MP Moira Deeming has only just avoided being promoted to a senior shadow ministry after she organised a right-wing rally attended by Nazis.

Following a marathon party room meeting, it was decided that a warning was the preferred option for now. But senior figures within the party have not ruled out further repercussions, saying a tilt at the leadership was possible if she continued down her current path.

By associating with fringe groups, promoting hatred and alienating mainstream Victorian voters, Ms Deeming has come dangerously close to embodying the core principles of the modern Liberal Party. If we see behaviour like this again we will not hesitate to put her forward for a much more senior role within the party, a spokesperson for the partys right wing said.

Asked for comment, Liberal leader John Pesutto said, It was a tough call actually a very narrow choice between inaction or promotion. When all is said and done, were happy with the outcome and believe were now stronger as a party.
