Why I Built This Desk

I needed a 12 foot long wall system that provided both a desk and media center, with some storage, for an Airbnb rental project.  I have been wanting to do a corner or L shaped rotating desk for a long time, and thought this was the perfect push to take on this giant desk project.

I love this modern...

Mr. Avellone never sexually abused either of us.
Ach. Ach was. Wieso habt ihr das dann rumerzhlt?
We have no knowledge that he has ever sexually abused any women.
Wie, das war nicht mal Hrensagen? Einfach nur Rufmord oder wie?
Anything we have previously said or written about Mr. Avellone to the contrary was not our intent. We wanted to support women in the industry.
Ja klar, und wo gehobelt wird, da fallen halt Spne. Den einen oder anderen unschuldigen Mann wird man ja wohl fr die gute Sache mal vor den Zug werfen knnen!?
In so doing, our words have been misinterpreted to suggest specific allegations of misconduct that were neither expressed nor intended.
Oh ACH SO! Sie sind die eigentlichen Opfer hier! War alles blo ein Missverstndnis!1!!
We are passionate about the safety, security and agency of women, minorities, LGBTQIA+ persons, and every other community that has seen persecution in the video game industry.
Wir sind nicht nur die Opfer, wir sind geradezu die Heiligen hier!

"Glaubt allen Frauen", nee klar.

Jetzt fragt ihr euch bestimmt, was fr eigentlich harmlos gemeinte Statements da so krass missverstanden wurden. Nun, da kann ich euch helfen!

Barrows had previously claimed on Twitter that Avellone was an abusive, abrasive, conniving sexual predator who had attempted to sexually assault her after getting her black out drunk. Barrows told Kotaku in 2020, Hes f****** disgusting, but he did not rape me. He assaulted me, 100 percent, but I stopped him.
Ja gut, das kann man schon verstehen, wie dieses freundliche motivierende Schulterklopfen als Anschuldigung...

Prior Art: KI-Assistenten fr Meetings.

Ganz einfach!

Team Cymru, the company ultimately selling this data to the FBI, obtains it from deals with ISPs by offering them threat intelligence in return. These deals are likely conducted without the informed consent of ISPs users.
Weil die alle doof sind! Threat Intelligence ist natrlich absoluter Bullshit. Reines Schlangenl.

Vermutlich "anonymisiert" dann.

Der Artikel hat noch ein Lowlight:

After Motherboard reported the U.S. Army and other purchases of Team Cymru data, the Tor Project, the organization behind the Tor anonymity network, said it was moving away from infrastructure that Team Cymru had donated. The Tor Project told Motherboard it expects that migration to be completed this Spring.

Central Bank Digital Currencies Are About Control They Should Be Stopped "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

I participated in an online forum called US CBDCA Disaster in the making? We had a very productive discussion about the policy aspect of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs). I believe that the Fed should not launch a CBDC. Ever. And I think that Congress should amend the Federal Reserve Act, just to be on the safe side. I want to distinguish between a wholesale CBDC and retail CBDC. With a wholesale CBDC, banks can electronically transact with each other using a liability of the central bank. That is essentially what banks do now. But retail CBDCs are another animal altogether. Retail CBDCs allow members of the general public to make electronic payments of all kinds with a liability of the central bank. This featuremaking electronic transactions using a liability of the Federal Reserveis central to why Congress should make sure that the Fed never issues a retail CBDC. The problem is that the federal government, not privately owned commercial banks, would be responsible for issuing deposits. And while this fact might seem like a feature instead of bug, it's a major problem for anything that resembles a free society. The problem is that there is no limit to the level of control that the government could exert over people if money is purely electronic and provided directly by the government. A CBDC would give federal officials full control over the money going intoand coming out ofevery person's account. This level of government control is not compatible with economic or political freedom.

119K people hurt by riot-control weapons since 2015 "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

More than 119,000 people have been injured by tear gas and other chemical irritants around the world since 2015 and some 2,000 suffered injuries from "less lethal" impact projectiles, according to a report released Wednesday. Physicians for Human Rights and the International Network of Civil Liberties Organizations, which produced the report, called it "the most comprehensive study on crowd-control weapons to date." The report on casualties from a largely unregulated industry cites an alarming evolution of crowd-control devices into more powerful and indiscriminate designs and deployment, including dropping tear gas from drones. Some of the injuries were fatal but it was impossible from the data to estimate the total number of deaths, said the report's lead author, Rohini Haar. The vast majority of the data comes from cases in which a person came to an emergency room with injuries from crowd-control weapons and the attending doctor or hospital staff made the effort to document it, Haar said. Protesters have been blinded and suffered brain damage from beanbag rounds. In November, the city of Portland reached a $250,000 settlement with five demonstrators in a federal lawsuit over police use of tear gas and other crowd-control devices during racial justice protests. But last month, a federal judge threw out an excessive force claim against an unnamed federal agent who fired an impact munition at the forehead of protester Donavan La Bella, fracturing his skull.

Note: For an idea of how common the deployment of nonlethal weapons against protesters has become, see a list of incidents of police violence that took place in the US in 2020. The FBI Just Admitted It Bought US Location Data "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation has acknowledged for the first time that it purchased US location data rather than obtaining a warrant. The disclosure came today during a US Senate hearing. Senator Ron Wyden ... put the question of the bureau's use of commercial data to its director, Christopher Wray: "Does the FBI purchase US phone-geolocation information?" Wray said his agency was not currently doing so. "To my knowledge, we do not currently purchase commercial database information that includes location data derived from internet advertising," Wray said. "I understand that we previouslyas in the pastpurchased some such information for a specific national security pilot project. But that's not been active for some time." In its landmark Carpenter v. United States decision, the Supreme Court held that government agencies accessing historical location data without a warrant were violating the Fourth Amendment's guarantee against unreasonable searches. The decision left open a glaring loophole that allows the government to simply purchase whatever it cannot otherwise legally obtain. US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the Defense Intelligence Agency are among the list of federal agencies known to have taken advantage of this loophole. The Department of Homeland Security ... purchased the geolocations of millions of Americans from private marketing firms. The data were derived from ... benign sources, such as mobile games and weather apps.

Mapping Project Reveals Locations of U.S. Border Surveillance Towers "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

The precise locations of the U.S. government's high-tech surveillance towers along the U.S-Mexico border are being made public for the first time as part of a mapping project by the Electronic Frontier Foundation. While the Department of Homeland Security's investment of more than a billion dollars into a so-called virtual wall between the U.S. and Mexico is a matter of public record, the government does not disclose where these towers are located, despite privacy concerns of residents of both countries and the fact that individual towers are plainly visible to observers. The surveillance tower map is the result of a year's work steered by EFF Director of Investigations Dave Maass. As border surveillance towers have multiplied across the southern border, so too have they become increasingly sophisticated, packing a panoply of powerful cameras, microphones, lasers, radar antennae, and other sensors. Companies like Anduril and Google have reaped major government paydays by promising to automate the border-watching process with migrant-detecting artificial intelligence. Opponents of these modern towers, bristling with always-watching sensors, argue the increasing computerization of border security will lead inevitably to the dehumanization of an already thoroughly dehumanizing undertaking. Nobody can say for certain how many people have died attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico border in the recent age of militarization and surveillance. Researchers estimate that the minimum is at least 10,000 dead.

Note: As the article states, the Department of Homeland Security was "the largest reorganization of the federal government since the creation of the CIA and the Defense Department," and has resulted in U.S. taxpayers funding corrupt agendas that have led to massive human rights abuses. Investment fund links to Atlanta police and 'Cop City' project revealed "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

A new investigation has uncovered connections between private equity firms and the contentious development of a sprawling police and fire service training complex in Atlanta known as "Cop City" and the police force which fatally shot an environmental activist. Private equity refers to an opaque form of financing away from public markets in which funds and investors manage money for wealthy individuals and institutional investors. Research shared exclusively with the Guardian details links between Roark Capital, an Atlanta-based private equity firm ... and a corporate backer of the Atlanta police foundation (APF). APF ... is raising $60m from corporate funders to build Cop City in the Atlanta forest previously earmarked for a public park. The APF has helped Atlanta become the most surveilled city in the US in large part thanks to a program called Operation Shield. Operation Shield currently boasts more than 12,800 private and public interconnected cameras monitored by the police. The private equity industry manages about $11tn globally. Yet unlike banks and other publicly listed companies, private equity firms are exempt from most financial disclosure rules, making it extremely difficult to track their assets or risks. It means people such as firefighters, nurses and teachers whose pensions are invested in private equity funds have little way of knowing if their retirement nest egg is financing police surveillance equipment, defence contractors, hospitals or coal plants.

'Here it is better not to be born': Cobalt mining for Big Tech is driving child labor, deaths in the Congo "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

During one of his many visits to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Siddharth Kara ... met a young woman sifting dirt for traces of cobalt. Priscille told him she had suffered two miscarriages and that her husband, a fellow "artisanal" miner, died of a respiratory disease. It is just one of many devastating personal accounts in Cobalt Red, a detailed expos into the hidden world of small-scale cobalt mining in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The "quaint" moniker of artisanal mining, Mr. Kara points out, belies a brutal industry where hundreds of thousands of men, women and children dig with bare hands and basic tools in toxic, perilous pits, eking out an existence on the bottom rung of the global supply chain. The miners are the first step in the race for precious metals and minerals by some of the world's most powerful companies. If you own a smartphone, tablet, laptop, e-scooter, [or] electric vehicle ... then it is a system in which you are unwittingly complicit. Around 75 per cent of the world's cobalt is mined in the DRC. The rare, silvery metal is an essential component to every lithium-ion rechargeable battery. Congolese miners ... have experienced life-changing injuries, sexual assault, physical violence, corruption, displacement and abject poverty. Major tech and EV companies extol commitments to human rights, zero-tolerance for child labor, and clean supply chains. Mr. Kara described these statements as "utterly inconsistent" with what's happening on the ground.

W.H.O. Do You Trust? "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Trust in public health has been shatteredhalf of America has lost faith in the scientific community altogether. Our current government is doubling down on World Health Organization (WHO) decrees that directly circumvent public oversight. The WHO has drafted a new global Pandemic Accord. The U.S. ambassador to the WHO, Pamela Hamamoto, on February 27 imprudently promised "The United States is committed to the Pandemic Accord." This comes immediately after the exposure of yet another disgrace undermining trust in public health institutions. It turned out the February 2020 Lancet article calling the lab origin of the SARS-CoV-2 virus a "conspiracy theory" was itself the true conspiracy, contrived behind closed doors contemporaneously with a March 2020 publication in Nature. If that coordinated media campaign was designed to conceal malfeasance by Drs. Francis Collins and Anthony Fauciwho, as leaders of America's National Institutes of Health, reportedly sent American tax dollars to fund China's dangerous gain-of-function research and circumvent Obama administration-introduced restrictionswe may be witnessing the deadliest cover-up scandal in history. News media are also beginning to acknowledge facts that refute the original reasons behind lockdowns. Despite protestations to the contrary, all signers of the Pandemic Accord clearly relinquish critical autonomy to the WHO. Most ominous is that WHO defines "public health emergency" on its own terms.

America's COVID Response Was Based on Lies "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Almost all of America's leaders have gradually pulled back their COVID mandates, requirements, and closureseven in states like California, which had imposed the most stringent and longest-lasting restrictions on the public. At the same time, the media has been gradually acknowledging the ongoing release of studies that totally refute the purported reasons behind those restrictions. This overt reversal is falsely portrayed as "learned" or "new evidence." Little acknowledgment of error is to be found. We have seen no public apology for promulgating false information, or for the vilification and delegitimization of policy experts and medical scientists like myself who spoke out correctly about data, standard knowledge about viral infections and pandemics, and fundamental biology. History's biggest public health policy failure came at the hands of those who recommended the lockdowns and those who implemented them, not those who advised otherwise. Lies were told. Those lies harmed the public. Those lies were directly contrary to the evidence, to decades of knowledge on viral pandemics, and to long-established fundamental biology. To ensure that this never happens again, government leaders, power-driven officials, and influential academics and advisors often harboring conflicts of interest must be held accountable. Investigations must proceed. Remember G.K. Chesterton's critical lesson that "Right is right, even if nobody does it. Wrong is wrong, even if everybody is wrong about it."

PETA Urges Pentagon to Stop 'Cruel' Pulsed Radiation Experiments on Animals "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals on Monday implored the U.S. military to reinstate a ban on the intentional wounding of animals in experiments and to stop radiation testing in an attempt to determine the cause of the mystery ailment popularly known as "Havana syndrome" that has afflicted U.S. government officials posted at diplomatic facilities in Washington, D.C. and several foreign countries. PETA argues that the military's decision to use live animals in testing related to Havana syndrome is "counterproductive" due to biological differences between humans and species subjected to the experiments, as well as the widespread availability of non-wounding research methods and the likelihood that radio frequency waves did not cause the mysterious ailment. The U.S. government has a long history of radiation experiments not only on animals but also on human beings. Scores of institutions, including some of North America's most prominent universities, laboratories, and hospitals hosted government and military experimentation on both volunteers and unwitting test subjects in the MK-ULTRA mind control experiments and other highly unethical and sometimes deadly programs. People suffering from Havana syndromeso named because it was first identified by U.S. and Canadian diplomats and embassy staff in the Cuban capitalexperienced what The Lancet described as "an abrupt onset of unusual clinical symptoms."

Is This One of the Best Nutrients for Your Eyes and Brain? "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

From Joseph Mercola, DO

While there are about 850 known carotenoids, most are not found in the human body and only lutein, zeaxanthin and astaxanthin cross the blood-retina barrier to form macular pigment. Your retina is an extension of your brain, where lutein also accumulates throughout the human lifespan, hinting at its importance for both vision and cognitive function.

In fact, if you have dementia, youre likely deficient in lutein, which crosses the bloodbrain barrier and has a protective, anti-inflammatory effect. While lutein is available in supplement form, its also found in a wide variety of foods, including dark leafy greens, avocados and egg yolks.

Lutein concentrates in your macula, which is the part of your retina responsible for central vision. Along with zeaxanthin and mesa-zeaxanthin (a metabolite of lutein), these three carotenoids form the retinal macular pigment, which not only is responsible for optimizing your visual performance but also serves as a biomarker for the risk of macular diseases.

Lutein is also found in the lens, where it helps protect against cataracts and other agerelated eye diseases. Among carotenoids, lutein is the most efficient at filtering out blue light the type that comes from cellphones, computers, tablets and LED lights.

Theres No Reason To Trust Banks And, Thanks To Bitcoin, We Dont Have To "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Trust in central and commercial banks is eroding quickly. The internet and social media are oil in the fire and Bitcoin is the extinguisher.

This is an opinion editorial by Julian Liniger, the co-founder and CEO of Relai, a Swiss-based, bitcoin-only investment app.

Trust Us, Bro As The Only Tool Left

Banking only works when there is trust. Its fundamentally based on the belief that the banking system is strong and resilient enough to protect your money. But this trust-based system has shown that the rich and powerful benefit from this protection. As we saw in 2008 and since, the regular taxpayer is paying the bill.

Its ironic that Credit Suisse, which emerged as one of the winners of the 2008 financial crisis, is among the first banks to bite the dust in this current crisis. Between 2008 and 2023, weve seen many scandals, constant litigation, terrible risk management, and never-ending drama, slowly eroding trust in a once prestigious institution.

So, who has to pay the price for this? You guessed right: Everyone in Switzerland does! The Credit Suisse bailout (though no one officially calls it a bailout) is estimated to cost Swiss taxpayers a staggering 109 billion Swiss francs ($13,500 for every man, woman and child in the country).

Like those of commercial banks, central banks' decisions and actions are only effective when people trust them. The Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank (ECB) (among many other central banks worldwide) have made bold claims, only to be proven wrong. Officials like Janet Yellen, Jerome Powell and Christine Lagarde have consistently underestimated inflation. They even ridiculed anyone warning of the consequences of years-long ultra-low interest rates and unhinged balance sheet expansions during COVID-19.

Now, the claims meant to calm us are back to haunt them. Yellen famously said in 2017 that we would never see a financial crisis again. Lagarde was reluctant to explain how to tackle inflation in a talk show and just said that inflation will come down in due time, only to...

In a 100-Day Printmaking Project, Lisa Stubbs Reflects on the Holme Valley from a Birds-Eye View "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

All images Lisa Stubbs, shared with permission

Artist Lisa Stubbs is in the midst of a 100-day project that both explores unusual printmaking materials and recalls the topographical allure of her hometown. Working from her studio in Slaithwaite, West Yorkshire, Stubbs began the series as a way to experiment with utilizing cleaned and flattened Tetra Pak cartons in place of wood or metal plates. She layers ink onto the plastic-coated cardboard and uses a type of gauze known as a scrim to wipe away the excess pigment. For me, this is the playful part of the process as the scrim creates beautiful gestural marks on the Tetra Pak surface, she says. Its very organic and intuitive, making each print unique despite using the same plate.

Set on vintage and hand-painted papers, the resulting works feature a recurring house with a small door on the bottom right, a chimney, and an oversized bird perched on the roof. While the ink colors and images change, the central structure remains constant and evokes the homes of Stubbs native Holmfirth, a small town nestled in the Holme Valley. The lands steep elevation means that many houses are built on angles, with their backyards at window-level rather than ground. The beauty of this is when youre sitting in your back garden, you enjoy breathtaking views over your rooftop, the artist says, sharing:

Ova tops, to be said in broad Yorkshire tones, you can see a birds eye view of the Holme Valley and Black Hill, part of the Peak District and the rough fringe of Saddleworth Moor, a view thats become a comforting touchstone and one I never tire of. I wanted my printmaking to illustrate the character...

OPENAI CEO: IT'S NOT FUNNY THAT I'M AFRAID OF THE AI WE'RE CREATING "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

The CEO of OpenAI has admitted repeatedly that he's scared of the tech his company is cooking up but he doesn't think you should make fun of him for it.

"I think it's weird when people think it's like a big dunk that I say, I'm a little bit afraid," OpenAI CEO and noted doomsday prepper Sam Altman told podcaster Lex Fridman in an episode dropped this past weekend. "And I think it'd be crazy not to be a little bit afraid, and I empathize with people who are a lot afraid."
While Altman iterated during his Fridman show appearance that his concerns are primarily "disinformation problems or economic shocks" and not algorithmic "superintelligence," he has said a bunch of stuff recently that suggests that he's more than a little wigged out about AI.

Take, for instance, his recent comments to ABC News: "A thing that I do worry about is... [OpenAI is not] not going to be the only creator of this technology."
"There will be other people who don't put some of the safety limits that we put on it,"
Altman added.

This article was originally published by Matt Agorist at the Free Thought Project under the title: The Digital Iron Curtain: How the RESTRICT Act Threatens to Devastate Privacy and Crush Free Speech Online

This is going way past banning TikTok.

In an era where the world has become more Orwellian than Orwell himself could have ever imagined, it should come as no surprise that the US government is once again attempting to expand its stranglehold on individual liberty. Enter Senate Bill 686, also known as the Restricting the Emergence of Security Threats that Risk Information and Communications Technology Act (RESTRICT Act). Far from being the limited TikTok ban it purports to be, the RESTRICT Act represents an unprecedented expansion of government power and surveillance, reaching into nearly every aspect of our digital lives.

Make no mistake, this piece of legislation is the Patriot Act on steroids. The RESTRICT Act would seemingly grant the US government total control over all devices connected to the internet, including cars, Ring cameras, refrigerators, Alexa devices, and your phone. It goes beyond the pale, with the end goal being nothing short of a complete invasion of your privacy.

Under the guise of national security, the RESTRICT Act targets not only TikTok but all hardware, software, and mobile apps used by more than one million people. This means that anything from your Google Home device to your smartphone could be subject to government monitoring and control.

Should you dare to defy the RESTRICT Act, youll face devastating consequences. Violators can be slapped with a 20-year prison sentence, civil forfeiture, and denied freedom of information requests. All this, mind you, for simply trying to maintain some semblance of privacy in your own home.

The insidious nature of the RESTRICT Act doesnt stop there. As report...

From expose-news.com:

Graphene oxide, a substance that is poisonous to humans, has been found in the Covid 19 vaccines, in the water supply, in the air we breathe through chemtrails, and is even in our food supply.  Graphene oxide interacts and is activated by electromagnetic frequencies (EMF), specifically the broader range of frequencies found in 5G which can cause even more damage to our health.

The symptoms of graphene oxide poisoning and EMF radiation sickness are similar to those symptoms described as Covid. The good news is, now that graphene oxide has been identified as a contaminant, there are ways to remove graphene oxide from our bodies and restore your health.

This is a holistic approach of using several different methods simultaneously for the best effect. Including, specific supplements to degrade the graphene oxide in the body, and controlling EMFs in the environment to minimize graphene oxide activation.

This information comes from several sources and is based on scientific studies. Links are reference below.

Understanding Glutathione

Glutathione is a substance made from the amino acids: glycine, cysteine, and glutamic acid. It is produced naturally by the liver and involved in many processes in the body, including tissue building and repair, making chemicals and proteins needed in the body, and for the immune system.  We have a natural glutathione reserve in our bodies. This is what gives us a strong immune system.

Pieces of cloth and fresh bread "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

I have always believed pieces of cloth are of tremendous value. So much utility in a simple item.

Found out one of my neighbors bakes and sells fresh bread. @Alanaana, Lana is on 12th. I went and picked up a jalapeo cheddar loaf and an artesian bread loaf today. First time buying from her and found out I am getting naked bread (no container).

Not a problem, I always have clean cloth in a zip lock in my truck. In this case it was a bandana and a tenugui (like a...

WARNING: Toxic Metals Found in Top Chocolate Brands! "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Hey there chocolate lovers! Did you know that your favorite sweet treat might contain heavy and toxic metals?

In a recent study, famous chocolate brands like Hersheys and Lindt were found to have fragments of cadmium and lead in their dark chocolate bars. These metals have been linked to serious health problems such as lung problems, cognitive problems, cancer, and even early death.

Long-term exposure to these metals can trigger memory loss, high blood pressure, abdominal pain, and mood swings. Children are even more susceptible to negative effects like damage to the brain and central nervous system, leading to learning and behavioral problems.

In this video, well explore the findings of the study and share a list of brands that failed the tests. But dont worry, we wont leave you hanging! Instead of relying on dark chocolate for its known health benefits, well suggest some other healthy foods that can provide some of the same flavonoids found in chocolate.

So, if youre a chocolate lover who wants to make sure youre eating safe and healthy, tune in to this video! And dont forget to share this tip with your friends and family to keep them informed too.

Thinking Thursday: Henry Ford "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Quotation from Henry Ford is an excerpt from The Adventure of Learning 1: 28 Quotation Cards, available as a digital printable activity guide at my bookstore. Read more about my playful math books here.

Do you want your children to develop the ability to reason creatively and figure out things on their own?

Help kids practice slowing down and taking the time to fully comprehend a math topic or problem-solving situation with these classic tools of learning: See. Wonder. Create.

See: Look carefully at the details of the numbers, shapes, or patterns you see. What are their attributes? How do they relate to each other? Also notice the details of your own mathematical thinking. How do you respond to a tough problem? Which responses are most helpful? Where did you get confused, or what makes you feel discouraged?

Wonder: Ask the journalists questions: who, what, where, when, why, and how? Who might need to know about this topic? Where might we see it in the real world? When would things happen this way? What other way might they happen? Why? What if we changed the situation? How might we change it? What would happen then? How might we figure it out?

David Byrne Explains How the Big Suit He Wore in Stop Making Sense Was Inspired by Japanese Kabuki Theatre "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

In the nineteen-seventies and eighties, the name of David Byrnes band was Talking Heads as the title of their 1982 live album perpetually reminds us. But their overall artistic project arguably had less to do with the head than the body, a proposition memorably underscored in Stop Making Sense, the Jonathan Demme-directed concert film that came out two years later. Music is very physical and often the body understands it before the head, Byrne says in a bizarre contemporary self-interview previously featured here on Open Culture. To make that fact visible onstage, I wanted my head to appear smaller, and the easiest way to do that was to make my body bigger.

Hence costume designer Gail Blackers creation of what Talking Heads fans have long referred to as the big suit. Byrne has always been willing discuss its origins, which he traces back to a trip to Japan. There, as he put it to Entertainment Weekly in 2012, hed seen a lot of traditional Japanese theater, and I realized that yes, that kind of front-facing outline, a suit, a businessmans suit, looked like one of those things, a rectangle with just a head on top.

WARNING: The Ban TikTok Bill Is NOT What You Think It Is "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Author of Be Ready for Anything and Bloom Where Youre Planted online course

Like many Generation X folks, Ive complained long and hard about TikTok and the brainwashing effects on young people of 15-30-second intervals of entertaining social programming for hours at a time. I have also been concerned about the Chinese ownership of TikTok is this just a giant psy-op?

So when I heard that Congress was finally getting ready to ban the app, I was curious. I do see inherent dangers with TikTok. I do believe its being used to both spy and brainwash our young people. But should it actually be banned? And what door does such a ban open to further restrictions on our freedom?

Of course, I soon learned this was anything but good. Just like the Patriot Act has little to do with patriotism and the National Defense Authorization Act has more to do with indefinite detention without trials than national defense, the bill to ban TikTok is about much, much more.

Its about silencing dissentbrutally. And it will affect every single one of us.

Please note that theres more than one bill in the works. This article is specifically about the one that is most likely to pass, a worrisome, bipartisan effort.

Its called the Restricting the Emergence of Security Threats that Risk Information and Communications Technology Act or the RESTRICT Act. As a blogger, I look at this and find it terrifying. As an American, I look at this and want to weep for the freedoms that our government continues to crush.

Its up to us to act on this information and produce a public outcry that cannot be ignored. If this passes, you wont hear about the dangers of CBDCs, where were sending our money instead of helping our own citizens, or the shortcomings of the banking industry. You wont be able to get alternative information from blogs and YouTube and Twitter. Instead, your information will come from the mainstream media, and they will be a mouthpiece for the agenda of whoever is in power.

You may dislike TikTok as much as I do, but it doesnt warrant throwing the free speech baby out with the Chinese bathwater.

Lets take a look at this bill.

Whats the RESTRICT Act all about?

Heres the introduction. (Emphasis is mine.)

Benjamin Fulford Report: Western financial system suffers $8 trillion implosion, revolution follows March 27, 2023 "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

The collapse of the Western financial system is a mathematical certainty because recent rate hikes created at least an $8 trillion loss for financial institutions. Governments have been trying to foist this on the people. Revolution will be the result. This is why unprecedented unrest is overtaking France, Germany, Pakistan, Israel and many other places. There is also a global awakening to the fact the so-called rules-based world order, means rule by genocidal, Satan-worshipping criminals. This means mass arrests and war crimes tribunals are inevitable. The question now is which Khazarian mafia puppet leader will be first to fall, Emanuelle Macron of France or Benyamin Netanyahu of Israel? Whoever it is, they will be followed in short order by the fake President Joe Biden in the US, Justin Castrudeau in Canada, Olaf Scholz in Germany and Ursula von de Leyen of the EU., Other dominoes to fall will include the fake Pope Francis, and puppet leaders in Pakistan, South Korea, Japan etc. Since the bankruptcy of the Western Khazarian mafia ruling class is the cause of the political turmoil, let us first look at the latest developments on this front. The basic story is that no matter how hard you try to avoid reality, eventually, it finds a way of catching up. The KM started avoiding reality first by allowing banks to lend $100 for every $8 they have; these are the so-called BIS rules. This is dangerous because it means more than ten times leverage. Tom Waits Pumps up Crowd by Shooting Tattered Overalls and Busted Top Hat Cannon "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

HARTFORD, Conn. Acclaimed showman Tom Waits reportedly revved up his audience at a rare live gig by shooting off a custom Tattered Overalls and Busted Top Hat cannon into the upper decks of the crowd, astonished sources confirmed.

Well now, I had just finished a Rain Dogs medley, which usually gets the audience frothing at the mouth, yknow? But this crowd was more docile than a pack of hyenas on opposite day, so I knew I had to bring out the big guns, so to speak, growled Waits, with a sly grin that was as menacing as it was comforting. I had this t-shirt cannon modified to fit my particular fanbases needs. I blasted out a few pairs of overalls worn by dust farmers in the midwest and some busted top hats I stole from a haunted carnival, and got them hootinand after a few more? They were sure enough hollerin as well.

Concertgoers were decidedly ecstatic about the cannon, although some injuries were inevitable.

When Tom started blasting off that cannon, I knew I just had to make myself a prime target, whimpered a bandaged Harland Hellur, a self-described Tom Waits superfan. Well, in true Waitsian fashion, those overalls had a mess of rusty switchblades in the pockets of em, and I got two or three sliced right across the ol jugular. I couldnt be happier to leave a concert riddled with tetanus. The only way it could get any better is if I could somehow get Tom to sign my hospital bill with a railroad spike dipped in tobacco juice.

Legendary music manager Peter Quartz expressed interest in harnessing Waits new technology for other bands on his roster.

I could see this type of thing working for a lot of the groups I represent. The Residents, for example, could be blasting off giant eyeball masks, easy. And I just signed the Dire Straits, so you know their fans would freak for one that shoots sensible button-ups and corduroy pants! The only one thatd be a toughie is the Village People, Quartz noted. Id need a shuffle function so you dont know whether youre getting a construction worker get-up or a sailor suit. Somebody get the fellas in the lab on that task, ASAP!

After the show, Waits vowed that his next gig would be an even bigger spectacle, due to the trading of his custom cannon for a real, functioning Revolutionary War-era one.

Willie Nelson Crashes Girls Sleepover to Get Hair Rebraided and Check Out Snack Situation "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

BURLINGTON, Vt. Country music icon Willie Nelson was spotted at a local sleepover for 7th grade girls to get his hair rebraided and grab a few refreshments, confused sources reported.

Beckie throws one hell of shindig! Ive always found sleepovers, quinceaneras, and sweet 16s as convenient stops to get my braids touched up, meet some salt of the earth folk, and satisfy my sweet tooth, said Nelson. We played this game called MASH which predicts your life, and apparently I am gonna be a Scuba instructor living in a mansion in Antarctica with 16 kids! The snack selection was unreal too. Dunkaroos, Gushers, Nerd Ropes, Laffy Taffy! I was riding a sugar rush so high I couldnt get my shaky hands into the paper fortune teller when it was my turn to go.

Edmunds Middle School student Becky Pedersons sleepover was now at legendary status after welcoming the unexpected guest.

My dad called him the red-headed stranger but seriously he is my gray-haired new best friend, said Pederson. When I was fixing his braids I told him about how this boy Derek at school broke up with me on our two-week anniversary. No cap, he called him up pretending to be his soccer coach and told him he was cut from the team. I had never heard any of his stuff on TikTok but he played us some songs and outlaw country is bussin!

Trend expert Stephen Lawry has highlighted other celebrities who frequently stop by the homes of regular people.

We started seeing this a few years ago with homeowners hanging Bill Murray can crash here signs in the front of their houses. Then some metalheads found an easy way to meet their heroes by leaving their garage open displaying a bunch of free weights inside, said Lawry. But as far as Willie Nelson, dont lose faith if you dont have tweens to do his hair in your household. Always remember that he loves weed too, so if you leave out little bags of pot on your doorstep, you might have a chance Willie visit that will blow up your Instagram.

In related news, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich reportedly crashed a middle school field day, made his three-legged race partner cry, and left with all the juice boxes.

Opinion: There Are Too Many Posers Having Fun at Shows These Days "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Im a real one, bro. Been around since back in the fucking day. So when my little brother wanted to see Sum 41, I was happy to go with him and show him the ropes. As soon as I got there though, I had a frightening realization. There are so many posers at shows nowadays and, even worse, theyre all having fun!

Is it just me or are there more posers around than before? When did people start having fun and jumping off the stage? I swear to God people dont know how to act anymore. I remember back in the old school you had barriers between the rocking crowd and the band. Nobody moved. You crossed your arms, bobbed your head, and gave the occasional devil horns when you simply couldnt contain yourself.

The place was huge and there were no authority figures around to keep the posers in line so, like the DIY mother fucker I am, I took matters into my own hands and told on them to a security guiard. I mean, if yall wanna rock in that manner then at least be safe about it. Unfortunately, the security guard was apparently a poser too, and told me its a rock show, deal with it. I have half a mind to report this to some sort of manager. The local School of Rock band opened the show. Maybe they have a principal I can talk to.

All Im saying is if youre gonna be a poser and you come to a show, the least you could do is not have fun.

Did Limp Bizkit Predict the Future? Because Everything Is Fucked and Everybody Sucks "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Is Fred Durst a prophet speaking to our generation about the horrors of living during the decline of the American empire? Did Limp Bizkit presage such events as the pandemic, the collapse of the middle class, and irreversible climate change with a single song that is less than three minutes long and kicks fucking ass and is called Break Stuff?

Looking at life today its never been more true that everything is fucked. Fascism is on the rise along with hate crimes, bigoted legislature, and that guy from Staind.

As the stock market moves according to that he said she said bullshit the rich get richer while the poor are left with a fat lip. The conditions of the working class can cause depression and aggression. Rising rents and stagnant wages have us all feeling like a freight train.

When Nu-Metal poet laureate Frederick Durst wrote the line no human contact and if you interact your life is on contract we all should have started planning for a global pandemic. For those of us who contracted Covid the sentiment I feel like shit, my suggestion is to keep your distance cause right now Im dangerous could not ring truer. Six feet apart would have been better marketed as your best bet is to stay away, motherfucker!

Of course, Limp Bizkits prescience wasnt limited to the career-defining pop-music pinnacle that is Break Stuff. A further dive into their lyrics reveals such grim predictions as hate is all the world has ever seen lately. If only we heeded their warning.

Today were all familiar with ACAB, but it was Durst who wrote fucked up cop with a fucked up badge at the turn of the Millennium, long before the recent mainstream exposure of the police abolition movement, in Hot Dog, his epic treatise on modern life. It is indeed the most important diagnostic of a flawed society since Karl Marxs Das Kapital. We must act now to change our course before that grim night comes when the world breaks our proverbial face.

Oxytocin and birth: the latest evidence "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

What is the latest evidence about oxytocin and birth?

A systematic review has confirmed that, when synthetic oxytocin is given in labour, neither mums nor babies will experience the direct beneficial effects that we see when this hormone is secreted naturally.

However, there are significant indirect impacts potentially harming the fetus and increasing maternal pain and stress. (Buckley et al 2023).

This is a really important paper, as it summarises a number of studies that have looked at a topic that affects many of us.

Millions of women and babies are exposed to synthetic oxytocin during labour, because this is given to induce and augment (speed up) labour, as well as in medically managed placental birth and to stop bleeding after birth.

In some situations, such as when bleeding occurs after birth, synthetic oxytocin is lifesaving and genuinely warranted.

In many others, including induction and augmentation of labour without good reason, the risks of giving synthetic oxytocin may not outweigh any possible benefits.

This is of concern as induction of labour rates are rising around the world and many women also have their labour augmented with oxytocin, which is also known as Syntocinon or Pitocin.

He Told His Mom She Should Be Grateful for What He Gave Her. Did He Go Too Far? "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Some people need to be reminded once in a while that they should be grateful for what they have

Even if you know its going to cause some hard feelings.

And that, my friends, is the question were looking at today: was this guy an a**hole for what he said to his mom?

Lets see what happened

AITA for telling my mum to be grateful for the scraps I got her for her birthday?

My fiancee, Diane, and I have been together for almost a decade. I met her in my second year of uni and its been fantastic ever since. Shes lovely and I cannot wait to marry her.

For most of our relationship, my mum h**ed Diane for no reason. My mum would harass my fiancee, call her the most disgusting names, and act like a teenage bully. It got so bad that I stopped speaking to my mum for years because of it.

About two years ago, my mum apologised for treating Diane poorly and wanted to welcome her into the family. It was rather unexpected. My mum never explained herself, only apologised for her past actions.

Diane and I have accepted her apology, but my relationship with my mum has never quite been the same. I still keep her at a distance because even if she did apologise, she did cause me a lot of pain.

Diane and my mum share a birthday. Its not a big deal, but my mum acts as if it is the biggest deal on Earth. She used to turn her birthday into a competition of who gets the better gift. It was exhausting and was one of the reasons I stopped talking to her.

Since her apology, her behaviour surrounding her birthday has not been as extreme but still a little passive-agressive.

My mum and Dianes birthday was a few months ago. We couldnt celebrate my mums birthday the...

Calls to ban drag shows targeted at children "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

USA: There are mounting calls for a blanket ban on shows performed by men wearing dresses and jewellery, particularly when children might be present.

Advocates say the so-called religious performance are inappropriate, often contain unwholesome messages and include make believe stories that children may take as real.

Do we really want our children to be watching these shows where men are dressed up as women, give themselves bizarre stage-names and then parade around the stage talking about virgins and sex? No thanks, one woman from Texas said. It might look harmless just a guy in a dress reading fairytales to kids. But its really not appropriate.

Others pointed to statistics which showed children at these performances were sometimes being groomed. Im not saying that every one of these performers is a paedophile, but an alarming number are. Its really not a safe place for children to be.

Newly released autism prevalence estimates show that the iatrogenocide is expanding
The mainstream narrative lies in ruins and the CDC response is a case study in total depravity

Toby Rogers
Mar 28

I. Introduction

The new autism numbers came out last Thursday. We all knew that they would be bad because nearly every prevalence report for the last 20 years has shown increasing rates. We also knew that once again the CDC and mainstream media would try to spin increasing prevalence as good news in the Orwellian way that they do.

Lets walk through the two reports and then have a brief conversation about what we do about this.

II. The new numbers

There are several systems for tracking autism prevalence in the U.S. including the Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring Network (ADDM), National Survey for Childrens Health (NSCH), and National Health Interview Survey (NHIS). There are also federal programs including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) that have their own counts.

The two reports that came out on Thursday were from ADDM which tends to estimate lower autism prevalence (owing to slightly different research methods) than some of the other surveys.

There are 11 ADDM sites across the country (Arizona, Arkansas, California, Georgia, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, Tennessee, Utah, and Wisconsin). Every two years they conduct a study of autism rates in a defined geographic reg...

Can Melatonin Impact Your Eye Health? "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Melatonin, well-known for its role in regulating your bodys circadian rhythm, is useful for far more than a good nights sleep. This hormone was recently heralded for its role in eye health, and it may be an important compound for warding off age-related declines in vision.

Glaucoma, for instance, is among the leading causes of blindness, affecting 70 million people throughout the world. While its underlying causes are unknown, mechanical stress caused by elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) is known to damage retinal ganglion cells.

Its been suggested that glaucoma is, in fact, a neurodegenerative disease, and damage to retinal ganglion cells affects not only vision but also circadian rhythms and sleep. People with glaucoma may have disrupted circadian rhythms compared to their peers,1 and neuroprotective strategies that prevent damage to retinal ganglion cells could help with both this and glaucoma. In this regard, melatonin checks all the boxes.

Melatonin Improves Intraocular Pressure

In a study published in the Journal of Pineal Research, a team of scientists investigated the effects of melatonin supplements on patients with glaucoma.2 Subjects took melatonin daily at 10:30 p.m. for 90 days, experiencing a number of benefits, including:3

  • Increased stability of systemic circadian rhythm via improved phase alignment and alignment with intraocular pressure
  • Decreased intraocular pressure
  • Improved function of retinal ganglion cells in those with advanced glaucoma
  • Improvements to sleep and mood, particularly in those with advanced glaucoma

Previous research by the team found that melatonin was beneficial for disrupted systemic circadian rhythms and the cardiovascular system.4 They explained:5

Being a principal chemical factor for sensing environmental light signaling and synchronizing peripheral clocks, melatonin serves both input and output of the circadian system. Melatonin is regarded as a promising substance to ameliorate complex glaucoma-associated conditions of compromised well-being (i.e., disrupted circadian rhythms, altered sleep and mood).

Combined, these results provide evidence for melatonin efficiency in restoring disrupted circadian rhythms in glaucoma, with different effects of melatonin on systemic vs. local rhythms, suggesting that a personalized strategy for melatonin administration may further refine its benefits.

Is This One of the Best Nutrients for Your Eyes and Brain? "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

While there are about 850 known carotenoids, most are not found in the human body1 and only lutein, zeaxanthin and astaxanthin cross the blood-retina barrier to form macular pigment.2 Your retina is an extension of your brain,3 where lutein also accumulates throughout the human lifespan, hinting at its importance for both vision and cognitive function.

In fact, if you have dementia, you're likely deficient in lutein, which crosses the blood-brain barrier and has a protective, anti-inflammatory effect.4 While lutein is available in supplement form, it's also found in a wide variety of foods, including dark leafy greens, avocados and egg yolks.

Lutein for Vision Health

Lutein concentrates in your macula,5 which is the part of your retina responsible for central vision. Along with zeaxanthin and mesa-zeaxanthin (a metabolite of lutein), these three carotenoids form the retinal macular pigment, which not only is responsible for optimizing your visual performance but also serves as a biomarker for the risk of macular diseases.6

Lutein is also found in the lens, where it helps protect against cataracts and other age-related eye diseases.7 Among carotenoids, lutein is the most efficient at filtering out blue light the type that comes from cellphones, computers, tablets and LED lights.

Blue light induces oxidative stress in your eyes, which increases the risk of cataracts and macular diseases. Lutein, however, acts as a shield against it. According to a team of researchers from Harvard Medical School and The University of Hong Kong, writing in the journal Nutrients:8

"As the peak wavelength of lutein's absorption is around 460 nm which lies within the range of blue light, lutein can effectively reduce light-induced damage by absorbing 40% to 90% of incident blue light depending on its concentration.

NATIONAL CATASTROPHE! California Farmers Suffering Record Losses from Flooding as Worst is Yet to Come "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

by Brian Shilhavy
Editor, Health Impact News

With the threat of a World War 3 escalation into a nuclear conflict, while the worlds financial system is on the brink of collapse, it is easy to see why a local, regional news story about the weather will not make national headlines.

But there is a local, regional story developing in California that I guarantee will eventually make national headline news, as the flooding continues with more heavy rain and snow this week, and with local officials declaring that in terms of the flooding and damage, the worst is yet to come.

With California producing over half of Americas agriculture, this is indeed HUGE news, as this is also going to affect food prices around the world, since many of Californias agricultural products, a $51 BILLION economy, are exported outside the U.S.

The main reason this is not a major worldwide headline, yet, is because there are still very few estimates as to how high the losses are going to be, since the farming community in California is just trying to survive right now, bracing for new storms that entered the State yesterday and are continuing today.

Total financial losses for the State of California due to flooding that began in January, right now range from $5 BILLION to $30 BILLION.

Battered California faces billions in storm damage to crops, homes and roads

The price tag for all this mayhem road repairs, damaged homes, lost crops wont become clear for months. But the early estimates are sobering.

The costs of Californias relentless winter storms keep rising. And outside of the human toll with at least 28 people killed since January the price will be measured in billions.

The bomb cyclone that lashed San Francisco on Tuesday was the latest in an epic series of extreme weather events to hit California since New Years Eve. It blew out windows from skyscrapers, flung barges into a historic bridge, sent trees tumbling across roads, knocked down power lines, and threatened a major freeway as the waterlogged hillside beneath it started to collapse.

Just to the south, in the Santa Cruz area, the river that flooded the town of Pajaro a week ago rose again, while nearby strawberry fields that were already submerged received a fresh round of rain. And on Wednesday, the National Weather Service confirmed that a rare tornado hit an industrial area of Montebello, east of downt...
