LUNC Burn Tax Set To Rise To 0.5% As KuCoin Proposal Receives Approval "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

After garnering the required votes, a major proposal has just passed in the KuCoin network. The proposal aimed at raising Terra Classic LUNC burns tax to 0.5%.

Following the positive results, KuCoin declared increasing the LUNC network burn rate from 0.2% to the proposed 0.5%.

LUNC Network Burn Tax Spikes On KuCoin

KuCoin took to Twitter to announce the increase in the burn tax. In its announcement, KuCoin stated that it would facilitate the Terra Classic LUNC and TerraClassicUSD (USTC) increase on its platform following the burn tax activation.

Notably, the activation will occur at the designated Terrra Classic block height of 12,902,399 and take effect on May 23.

Once activated, KuCoin will pay users more for transactions involving the two crypto assets, LUNC and USTC. Apart from the increased payments, the burn rate tax will reduce LUNC supply.

But theres still a downside to the increased burn rate tax as it will reduce the trading volume. This is why many exchanges rejected such proposals in the past.

Notably, KuCoin has always supported such increases even when other exchanges delay. For instance, the exchange first supported a September 2022 Terra Classic burn tax of 1.2% even before the proposal passed.

Other exchanges, including Crypto.com, MEXC, and Binance, only later declared support for the burn tax.

But after the proposal passed, data implied that the increase reduced the trading volume for LUNC. Many investors stopped trading with the asset due to the spike in fees.

Following the outcome, the LUNC community voted to reduce the burn tax to 0.2%, attracting the support of crypto exchanges such as Binance.

After the reduction, the Terra Classic community brought up another proposal to increase the burn tax rate, but it wasnt implemented

Latest Burn Tax Increase Proposal, 3 Others Gain Massive Support

While other proposals to increase the burn tax after reducing it from 1.2% to 0.2% failed due to several debates and arguments, the latest one received massive support.

Tokyo Art Museum Reveals the Creative Process of Heatherwick Studios Greatest Designs "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Tokyo Art Museum Reveals the Creative Process of Heatherwick Studios Greatest Designs

Heatherwick Studio at the Mori Museum

Photo: Raquel Diniz

Tokyo's Mori Art Museum is highlighting the work of acclaimed design firm Heatherwick Studio. The award-winning studio was founded by British designer Thomas Heatherwick in 1994, and this is its first solo exhibition. Twenty-eight of Heatherwick's best designs are highlighted in a comprehensive look at its evolution. By focusing on the entire creative process, the exhibit gives visitors a unique look at how the team produces incredible designs that honor its values.

Even the title of the exhibit, Heatherwick Studio: Building Soulfulness, is a tribute to those values. As a child, Thomas Heatherwick recalls being moved by the soulfulness of the small items he saw artists and artisans build. He wondered if large-scale design could retain that feeling. This desire to keep a human connection, as well as incorporate nature, are touchstones of Heatherwick Studio's work.

Museum director Mami Kataoka, who also served as the exhibition curator, was keen to take on the challenge of showcasing grand architecture within the confines of a gallery. To do so, she created an immersive experience where visitors can engage with models, photography, videos, and objects. Walking through six sections, people will learn about Heatherwick Studio's design process and how the same philosophy is applied to everything from a car that cleans the air while it drives to a floating public park.

Over the last three decades, my team and I have been passionately trying to create impactful, relatable projects that make our lives more meaningfu...

Bitcoin And Ethereum Supply Drops To Record Lows Unseen Since 2015 And 2017 "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

<p><p>Amid the tussle between the bulls and bears in the crypto market over the past week, the circulating supply of both Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) has reached record lows, triggering speculation about the potential impact on the cryptocurrency market.</p> <p><a href= "https://twitter.com/santimentfeed/status/1659830319724519425?s=20" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">Data</a> provided by Santiment reveals a significant decrease in the amount of BTC and ETH held on exchanges, suggesting a shift in investor behavior.</p> <h2>Bitcoin And Ethereum Supply Plummets On Exchanges</h2> <p>According to Santiments data, the circulating supply of <a href= "https://www.newsbtc.com/bitcoin-news/whale-alert-1750-bitcoin-btc-moved-to-exchange-massive-plunge-incoming/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">BTC on exchanges</a> currently stands at a mere 5.7%, marking its lowest level since December 2017 when the cryptocurrency surged to an all-time high of $20,000.</p> <p>Similarly, the supply of ETH on exchanges has dropped to 10.1%, the lowest since its inception in 2015. This trend indicates that crypto investors are actively buying and withdrawing their coins from exchanges, opting for alternative storage methods.</p> <p>Santiment tweeted earlier today:</p> <blockquote> <p>Bitcoin & Ethereum both continue to quietly see more and more of their existing supplies move into self custody. Though not a perfect indicator, declining coins on exchanges generally hint at future bull runs, given enough time playing out.

Notably, one key reason behind the declining supply of BTC and ETH on exchanges, particularly in the case of Ethereum, is the increasing popularity of staking. Ethereum 2.0s transition to a proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus mechanism has provided ETH holders with the opportunity to <a href= "https://www.newsbtc.com/news/ethereum-whale-resurfaces-after-2-years/?swcfpc=1" rel="noopener" target="_blank">stake their coins</a> and participate in securing the network while earning rewards.</p> <p>Stakers lock up their ETH in specialized wallets, ensuring its active involvement in the networks operations rather than leaving it idle on exchanges. This shift towards staking is motivated by the desire to earn passive income and contribute to the long-term growth and security of the Ethereum ecosystem.</p> <p>On the other hand, the Bitcoin decrease on exchanges is not so clear, however, the possible reason can be attributed to investors looking to keep their BTC holdings for a long time. This could be due to the feared upcoming global recession which has made many turn to the idea of saving funds for the supposed rainy days.</p> <h2>Implications On The Crypto Market</h2> <p>The dwindling supply of Bitcoin and Ethereum on exchanges could have significant implications for the...&l...

Sleek Travel Trailer Can Charge an Electric Vehicle on Long Road Trip Adventures "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Sleek Travel Trailer Can Charge an Electric Vehicle on Long Road Trip Adventures

Colorado Teardrop trailer, attached to an EV, in front of a rocky landscape

As electric vehicles (EV) are becoming commonplace on the streets of big cities, they are often harder to adapt for road trips and longer outdoor adventures. One hesitation is their driving range; at this point, an EV can't go as far as a gas-powered car, and charging stations can be few and far between. Towing a trailer can also affect range. But what if a trailer, instead of causing a drop in the driving range of an EV, boosted it instead?

Colorado Teardrops, a Denver-based camper trailer company, drew inspiration from the local landscapes and weather to design a model that not only allows you to explore landscapes of all kinds but also provides an energy backup for your car. Named The Boulder, this trailer features a 75kWh Lithium-ion battery pack that can recharge your EV and service power needs during your trip to the great outdoors.

The Boulder EV charging camper trailer enables your EV to achieve its original non-towing rangeor better, explains the company.  When the EV needs charging between EV charging stations, pull off the road and use The Boulder as a charging station. This charge could vital if your car were to accidentally run out of battery in the middle of the woods.

The unique feature doesn't interfere with the sleek design of the trailer. The bank of actively cooled EV batteries is located in a sealed section under the aircraft-grade aluminum frame of the camper. They can be recharged at stations at home or on the road. On top of that, the energy stored by it can also be used at home. Since solar panels are available as an upgrade, this means that The Boulder can also store solar energy.

On top of being ready for the volatile weather of the company's home statewhere heat, ice, and snow can appear on the same dayThe Boulder also pays tribute to the rocky landscapes with its design choices. In contrast with its cold exterior, the wooden finishes of its interiors turn it into a cozy dining room or a warm bedroom, depending on your needs at the time.

In its dining mode, the cabin holds a spacious lounge table that will make regular picn...

Cardano Surpasses 500 Million ADA In TVL How About Its Impact On Price? "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

The total value locked (TVL) on the Cardano blockchain has hit a significant milestone after crossing 500 million ADA. This would come just a month and a few days after TapTools predicted an exponential increase in the networks TVL.

In this prediction, TapTools, a Cardano portfolio tracker, also reported different factors that could be pivotal to Cardanos explosive growth in the coming months.

Cardano DeFi Ecosystem Hits 500 Million ADA In TVL

Data from DeFi TVL aggregator DefiLlama reveals that the total value locked on the Cardano network now stands at 505.114 million ADA. This is equivalent to $186.18 million when converted to U.S. dollars.

Cardano

Source: DefiLlama

This new milestone represents a staggering 91.9% increase in total value locked since the turn of the year. Meanwhile, in the last month, Cardanos TVL has jumped by nearly 8%, indicating a steady adoption of its DeFi ecosystem.

On-chain data shows that Minswap is, by a distance, the leading protocol on the network, with a TVL of $55.56 million. In fact, the decentralized exchange boasts a market share dominance of 29.84%.

Minswap protocol is followed by Indigo, a collateralized debt protocol, with a total value of $28.5 million locked on it. WingRiders, Liqwid, and Djed Stablecoin are three other notable protocols on the Cardano DeFi ecosystem, with TVLs of $17.51 million, $15.42 million, and $13.71 million, respectively.

It is important to note that total value locked is a metric that estimates the amount of cryptocurrency locked in DeFi protocols on a particular blockchain. It is calculated by summing up the value of all the crypto assets locked in various DeFi protocols on a blockchain. TVL can be represented in the native token of a blockchain (as in ADA for Cardano) or in USD.

ADA Price Shows No Significant Action

A skyrocketing total value locked is often an indicator of increased activity in a DeFi ecosystem. However, Cardanos impressiv...

Injective (INJ) Surges By 19% Following Surprise NFT Announcement "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Injective (INJ) is one of the few tokens to have racked up impressive gains in the last week. While most of the assets in the crypto market were marked by insignificant price actions leading to little gains or losses, INJ stood out with an excellent price movement to become one of the biggest weekly gainers.

According to data from CoinMarketCap, Injectives price gained by 19% in the last seven days boasting of a market performance only beaten by four other tokens RNDR, AGIX, MASK, and CFX in the entire top 100 crypto ranking.

INJ initially began the week trading around a price region of $6.08 and soon recorded consecutive gains and losses before experiencing a price hike on May 17 to hit a market price of $6.7

Following this price boost, INJ showed signs of consolidation for the next two days before starting its current bullish run.

NFT Surprise Announcement Boosts INJ Price

Interestingly, the price rally by INJ in the last week appears to be due to an exciting announcement made by the project developers six days ago.

On May 13, the team behind the Injective blockchain tweeted a statement urging the user community to interact more with dApps built on Injective or its L1 chain, stating there could be a chance to receive an NFT-related surprise.

XRP Emerges As Top Performing Crypto With 55% Surge Messari Report "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Amid the prevailing bearish trend in the crypto market, XRP has stayed afloat above other assets with impressive gains. A report from a leading crypto market intelligence product provider, Messari, revealed the Ripple native currency XRP took the lead in the overall crypto market in Q1.

XRP Takes The Lead In Overall Crypto Market

According to data from Messari, XRP outperformed other crypto assets with a 55% surge on a quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) basis.

From the report, the market cap of XRP grew by a whopping 59.9% in the first quarter of the year. The value increased from $17.4 billion on January 1 to $27.4 billion on March 31.

Notably, the growth rate for XRPs market cap exceeded the cumulative crypto market cap that witnessed a 46% surge within the same period.

Messaris report also showed that XRP kicked off the year with a trading price of $0.35 as of January 1. With the increasing volatility in the crypto market during the beginning of 2023, XRP rallied progressively through the days. As of January 23, XRPs price hit $0.43 before retracting due to the influence of the bears. The token closed in January with a 19.71% increase in value.

XRP Emerges Top Performing Crypto With A 55% Surge QoQ, Messari Report

The second month wasnt quite eventful for XRP as the price gradually dipped to $0.36 amid the downtrend in the overall crypto market. However, XRP ended February with a 7.27% drop as the price hit $0.37.

Then XRPs price rally took a more aggressive look in March. The price of XRP ranged from the beginning of March. But it gained momentum from March 21 as XRP broke the resistance level at $0.400.

XRP sustained its volatility and pushed higher with a more bullish stance through the remaining days in March. The token rallied beyond the $0.500 region and progressed higher.

Messari noted that XRP hit a 10-month high of $0.5850 on March 29, following a two-week price surge of 56%. This price rally was peculiar to XRP, although most crypto assets posted a decline during t...

Chainlink (LINK) Price Down Today As Bears Take Control Heres Why "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Chainlink has dropped slightly in the market today as bears seized control of its price. LINKs current price depicts a loss of 87.7% from its all-time high of $52.88 on May 10, 2021.

The asset has been fluctuating between the $6 and $7 price levels since the beginning of May and is currently at the $6 price level. LINK is also recording a sideways trend on the daily chart, and its trading volume has also tanked by over 32%.

The recent price action is primarily influenced by macroeconomic factors such as inflation, regulatory laws and investor sentiment.

LINK Price Analysis

LINK is in a sideways trend today, forming a red candle on the daily chart. It is trading below its 50-day and 200-Simple Moving Averages (SMA), a short and long-term bearish sentiment.

Also, its Relative Strength Index (RSI) is at 41.30 and dropping out of the neutral zone to the oversold region of 30, confirming the bearish trend.

LINKs Moving Average Convergence/Divergence (MACD) is just above its signal line and shows convergence, a bearish signal. Also, the MACD indicator displays a negative value.

LINK is just above its nearest support level of $6.362, which has proved critical after the 6.177 price level provided initial support. However, its signals on the daily chart look bearish, hinting at a further price drop for the asset. However, if the bulls mount a rally, LINK will encounter resistance at the $6.753 and the $6.907 price levels.

Chainlink Plummets as Bears Take Control: Here's Why The Price Is Down Today

Psychiatric Detentions Rise 220% in First Year of 988 "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

The rapid growth of the new 988 mental health hotline has been greeted with positive media coverage. As many people expected, calls, texts, and chats to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, now renamed 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, started climbing immediately with the launch of the 988 number in July of 2022. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and the nonprofit that was given centralized control over the 988 system, Vibrant Emotional Health (VEH), have been releasing monthly updates on key metrics.

In April 2023, compared to April 2022, calls answered increased by 52%, chats by 90%, and texts by 1022%. The trend was heralded by federal Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra to CNN: Our nations transition to 988 moves us closer to better serving the crisis care needs of people across America. 988 is more than a number, its a message: were there for you.

However, as previously reported by Mad in America, a percentage of people who contacted the former National Suicide Prevention Lifeline were subjected to geolocation tracing of their phone, computer, or mobile device. The Lifeline advertised itself as a place for confidential discussions about suicidal feelings but, according to its own policy, if a call-attendant believed a person might be at imminent risk of taking their own life in the next few hours, days, or week, the call-attendant was required to contact 911 or a Public Safety Answering Point to send out police and/or an ambulance to forcibly take the person to a psychiatric hospital.

Many Lifeline users described the experiences of betrayal, public exposure, police interactions, loss of freedoms, and forced psychiatric treatment as dangerous, harmful and traumatizing.

So, since the transition to 988, has anything changed? As contacts to 988 rise, how many people are getting forcibly subjected to these types of unexpected, unwanted interventions?

It appears detention numbers are climbing dramatically, tooeven as VEH, SAMHSA, and many news outlets continue to obfuscate the facts publicly.

Contacts and Detentions Rising Together

For the ten-month period from July 2022 to April 2023, the new 988 Lifeline received more than 4 million total contactson pace to double the average...

This Movie Star Is a Full-On Prepper with a Bug Out Retreat "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Author of What to Eat When Youre Broke and Bloom Where Youre Planted online course

Every once in a while, its nice to read that somebody in Hollywood gets it when it comes to prepping. Most of the time, preparedness. So when I saw the headline, Josh Duhamel Is Obsessed with Doomsday Prepping, I rolled my eyes.

But I went to read the article anyway, and Im glad I did. Because Duhamel really does seem a lot like one of us (except with a crap ton of money). Heres what I learned.

Who is Josh Duhamel?

Duhamel is a long-time fixture in Hollywood. According to his bio on IMBD:

Joshua David Duhamel was born in Minot, North Dakota. His mother, Bonny L., is a retired high school teacher, and the Executive Director of Minots Downtown Business & Profession Association, and his father, Larry Duhamel, is an advertisement salesman. Josh has three younger sisters: Ashlee, McKenzee, and Kassidy. His ancestry is German, and smaller amounts of Norwegian, French-Canadian, English, Irish, and Austrian (his last name is very common among Francophones in the world). Before his acting career, the football player studied biology and earned his Bachelors degree at Minot State University with the intention of pursuing dentistry.

Hes had a reasonably illustrious career.

Duhamel can be seen in Vince Gilligan and David Shores CBS series, Battle Creek. He is in production on four films: Lost In The Sun, Bravetown, The Wrong Stuff, and Beyond Deceit.

Duhamel also starred alongside Hillary Swank and Emmy Rossum in the George C. Wolfe directed drama, Youre Not You. Duhamel also starred opposite Julianne Hough in Lasse Hallstroms Safe Haven, a drama based on the best-selling novel by Nicholas Sparks and the thriller Scenic Route, which tells the story of two friends stranded in the desert. In addition, Duhamel was seen in the star-studded, ensemble comedy Movie 43 alongside Emma Stone, Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Kate Winslet, Richard Gere among many others. Co-directed by Peter Farrelly and Patrik Forsberg, the film features various intertwining, raunchy tales.

Other projects include Garry Marshalls New Years Eve alongside Michelle Pfeiff...

Celebrities Who Grew up Wealthy and Others Who Are Completely Self-Made "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Hollywood is a tough place to succeed no matter how you look at it, but theres no denying that some celebrities have a bit of an advantage if they grew up with money and connections.

But, just like a movie script, there are also plenty of stories of celebs who are self-made and managed to hit it big in Tinseltown despite their humble beginnings.

Here are some examples of famous folks who grew up wealthy and ones who came from modest origins.

Take a look! You might be surprised!

Hilary Swank

The actress has had a long career in movies and TV and shes won two Oscars. But Swank came from extremely humble beginnings and she grew up in a trailer park in Washington.

Swank said, I had a roof over my head and I had food, and so it wasnt that being poor and having those experiences was a negative. The negative part of it was learning about class at such a young age, not from my friends, but from my friends parents, who would say, You arent to hang out with her. Outdoor Show Grinds to a Halt After Bass Player Finds a Cool Bug "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

ASBURY PARK, N.J. An outdoor metal show unexpectedly came to a complete stop after the bands bass player Todd Michaels became distracted by a cool bug that wandered onstage, confused attendees reported.

This isnt just any old bug, but a black swallowtail caterpillar! He mustve been attracted to how low tuned our guitars were and nearly got stepped on by our frontman Josh (Olden). This dude only has a lifespan of ten days, so I need to find a safe place for him to pupate in the scaffolding or something, said Todd Michaels while searching for something to transport the big. I asked the audience if anyone had any milkweed on them to feed him, and all they threw on stage was regular weed like this is some kind of joke. The show can wait, the intricate ballet of life is playing out here.

Less enthusiastic about the local fauna was the bands lead guitar player, who felt Michaels fascination had recently been holding them back.

Of all the times for Todd to lose focus, its at the goddam Stone Pony summer stage. This is our big break and hes fucking blowing it. I cant say Im shocked though, when we first started out playing in parks and empty lots hed get sidetracked and follow ants back to their hill. I wish hed forget about his entomology degree for just 45 minutes and just play, said guitarist Mike Williams. Its not like we can just kick him out though, being that hes the only one of us with a van. Still, Im giving him five minutes to get it together before I feed that goddam caterpillar to those seagulls over there.

Venue manager Greg Esposito nearly pulled the plug on the show entirely when Michaels began regaling the crowd with bug facts.

When you book a band called Serrated Newborn, the last thing youre expecting is a lecture about arthropods. I figured if I didnt start seeing some headbanging soon wed have a riot on our hands, but this fucking guys banter is the best Ive ever seen, said Esposito. Shit, at this rate I may just ditch the metal acts and book science talks the rest of the summer. Cant remember the last time some nerd tried to stab me with a broken beer bottle.

As of press time, the band found a workaround and played the rest of their set while Michaels detailed the best ways to mutilate and kill invasive spotted lanternflies.

Every Anti-Flag Album Ranked "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Anti-Flag is essential. They keep the aesthetic of classic punk alive while crafting it into their own unique sound. Sure, they may rip themselves off from time to time, and they dont often venture to other genres (though when they do, its great!) but theyre an extremely reliable punk band that can write circles around most musicians.

Theyre also important in spreading the cultural ethos of punk rock. Between their aesthetics, sound, the vibe of their live shows, and the fact that they have consistently spread progressive social messages (particularly during times when that wasnt a popular move), Anti-Flag is the embodiment of what punk rock is about. They have always provided a punk rock haven for misfit kids and adults alike where everyone is welcome and progress feels possible, and hopefully they always will. Anyway, we ranked all the Anti-Flag albums so we had to find a bunch of different ways to say all these songs sound the same.

12. 20/20 Vision (2020)

This record opens with a Trump sample because of course it does. This is a bland collection of typical-sounding A-F songs. This record would be great if Anti-Flag didnt already exist. It came out in 2020 (surprise!) prior to the presidential election. Good thing they put this record out otherwise we might be dealing with another four years of Cheeto in Chief jokes. Thanks, Anti-Flag! This isnt a bad record, by the way. Its just their worst.

Stoned Man Finally Decides Where He Wants to Live in Roku City Screensaver "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

NEW YORK Local stoner Remy Clayton finally decided on the perfect living location within Roku City after an hour or so of staring, hungry sources report.

You know the three-floor brownstone in the purple section of Roku City next to the haunted house? Thats the spot. Just imagine how fun it would be around Halloween, said Clayton while using Visine drops. I considered the bowling alley, but its loud, and I like keeping my shoes on. Trying to get a down payment together for a mortgage has been a bummer. My deadbeat dad wont even help me at all. He keeps saying its just a fucking picture on the TV, its not a real place. Why cant you be more like your brother? He actually has a job and a real house.

Claytons father confirmed that his 32-year-old son has lived in his furnished basement for ten years.

This little prick has been living down there rent-free since May 2013, after he graduated from college. I wanted to put a bar down there, and one of those little putting greens, but hes down there stinking up the joint. All he does is watch that Cuckoo City video game and smoke marijuana cigarettes, recalled the elder Mr. Clayton. Ive gone down there to tell him he really needs to get out of the house sometime, but he never listens. He just calls me man and tells me to stop blocking his view.

Marisa Boyd of Rocket Mortgage spoke regarding her recent phone conversation with the younger Clayton.

He inquired about loans Id recommend to first-time home buyers. I suggested a 15-year fixed loan, said Boyd. Then he rambled on and on about an active volcano erupting near the property, something about King Kong, and then had a coughing fit. Thats when I understood that he was talking about Roku City, like, the screensaver from the streaming device thing. I stressed that since the property is imaginary, we could not process his application. I wasted six hours of time on this guy when I could have been working with an actual client, I hate these dorks.

At press time, both Clatyons were seen leaving the house together to go to a real-life bowling alley, though Remy secretly downloaded the Roku app onto his iPhone without knowing his future home wouldnt exist on mobile.

We Look Back On When Jimi Hendrix Forgot The Words To The National Anthem "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Its been over fifty years since the legendary Woodstock Festival, but even half a century cannot erase the memories of Jimi Hendrix forgetting the words to The Star Spangled Banner.

After 31 performances from legends the likes of Santana and The Grateful Dead, the festival organizers decided it would be appropriate to wake everyone up at 9 a.m. so Jimi Hendrix could sing the National Anthem. The performance was supposed to display unity and patriotism in a counterculture crowd staunchly against the Vietnam War. And it would have if Jimi Hendrix had remembered the words.

The rock and roll icon took the stage in the quiet morning without his treasured Fender, prepared to do an a capella rendition of the American tune. But after clearing his throat a couple of times as he looked nervously out to the miles of campgrounds, it was clear that the weekend of peace and love was more or less over.

Ill never forget it, we were all in tents sleeping, and we heard this horrible feedback from the microphone on stage, recalled Marion Funparse, 75, who attended the festival. Everyone sort of stood up and got quiet out of respect, I guess?

Following epic sets from Joe Cocker, The Band, and a 3 a.m. to 4 a.m. show from Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Hendrix stood in front of nearly half a million people, took a deep breath and sang, Oh say can you please before drifting into silence. He tried to start a few more times, to no avail.

It kind of killed the vibe to be honest. It was supposed to be this big symbolic gesture, said festival organizer Hugh Terren. I couldnt stand it anymore, so I walked out with his guitar and hummed him a bit of the tune. Im not even sure that helped.

Hendrix, much more comfortable with a guitar, performed a whole song, not necessarily the right song, but a song nonetheless. There wasnt time to update the tone setting on his guitar, but the muddiness might have covered up for his lack of knowledge. He clearly still didnt know the tune but every time he would mess up, hed at least do something cool like play with his teeth, or behind his head.

He finished drenched in sweat, less from exertion than from mortification, and the 500,000+ festival-goers went wild with polite applause, not knowing that the performance they just witnessed would be remembered for decades.

Islamic Leader Claims Mossad Used Prostitute to Kill Historic Imam "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

An Iraqi Islamic leader claimed that the Israeli Mossad used a prostitute in the 7th century to kill the first Shia Imam, adding that the Israeli-Jewish intelligence agencies use money and women to achieve their goals.

Several Iraqi Twitter accounts posted a video of Qais Al-Khazali making these claims while speaking in public. Al-Khazali is the leader of the Asaib Ahl Al-Haqq, a radical Iraqi Shia political party and paramilitary group backed by Iran.

The US State Department had designated this group as a foreign terrorist organization (FTO), while Al-Khazali and his brother, Laith Al-Khazali, were categorized as Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGT) under Executive Order 13224 signed by the Bush administration.

In his speech, Al-Khazali claimed that the Israeli Mossad, which was first established in December 1949, orchestrated the assassination of Ali Ibn Abi Talib or Imam Ali, the first imam in Shia Islam, in January 661 CE through a prostitute named Qatam.

"Qatam was a prostitute. What had been the modus operandi of the Israeli-Jewish intelligence agency? What do we know about them? How do they get their sources? Al-Khazali said.

It is either through money or through women. Right? In this case, it was a woman. There is no doubt that she worked for the Israeli Mossad back then, and through her, they recruited [Imam Ali's killer]. Abd Al-Satan Ibn Criminal...

Iran's Hijab Rule: No Veil, No Vehicle "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Iran continues to strictly enforce its mandatory hijab laws, despite massive pushback from many Iranians. This time, the Islamic Republic released a new rule for drivers, ordering female passengers and drivers to wear hijabs while inside their vehicles or risk impoundment.

Fars News Agency, the state-owned news network connected to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), released a video explaining this new directive on April 17th as part of a broader campaign to further implement its mandatory dress code amidst increasing pressure and opposition from many Iranians.

The new rule, according to the video obtained and translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), is in line with Article 638 of the Islamic Penal Code, along with new directives from the Interior Ministry and the Judiciary to the Public Security Police and from the public demand.

The two-minute video explained how this new hijab directive will work and apply to vehicle owners and passengers. The punishment for violating this rule will depend on whether the passenger, driver, and/or vehicle owner committed a first, second, or third (and succeeding) offense.

If authorities catch a female passenger or driver removing or not wearing a hijab for the first time, the police will send a warning via text message to the vehicle's owner.

Those who want to dispute this warning can fill up the form in the message by clicking on the link below the text message. The video said the police would accept the objection unconditionally at first.

However, the video stated that if the offense were repeated for a second time, the car would be impounded for 15 days. During this time, the car's owne...

"IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Human rights activists say Libyan authorities arrested six Libyans last March for converting to Christianity and proselytizing. They said the Libyan Christians were accused of violating laws being used increasingly to stifle human rights organizations and civil societies.

Some women and men detained by the Libyan security forces came from the Amazigh or Berbers, one of the countrys minority ethnic groups. An American was also arrested by the Internal Security Agency last month but was freed and thought to have left the country.

The six arrested Libyan Christians were accused of violating Article 207 of the countrys Penal Code, which penalizes any attempts to spread views that alter fundamental constitutional principles or the fundamental structures of the social order or overthrow the government as well as anyone who owns books, leaflets, drawings, slogans, or any other items that promote a such cause.

In a statement, the ISA said they arrested the ex-Muslim Christians to stop an organized gang action aiming to solicit and to make people leave Islam. A lawyer for one of the detainees said their families were informed of their state when the agency posted videos of their confessions online.

One of these videos showed Seyfao Madi, an engineer and father of one child. In his confessions, he told authorities he converted to Christianity after meeting a Christian from the US in 2016, and they had discussions before being baptized and converted to the faith in 2017. He also said he joined a group of Libyans and foreigners inside Libya calling and circulating for Christianity. A lawyer, who asked for anonymity, also said he renounced his Christian faith under torture.

Humanists International said Libyas laws remain primarily based on religion, even after Muammar Gaddafi was deposed and killed in 2011. While an interim constitution was written after his death and guaranteed freedom of religion for non-Muslims, this charter was suspended due to constant infighting between the internationally-recognized Islamist government in Tripoli and a secularist government in Tobruk.

Tragic Attack on Tunisian Synagogue: 3 Dead, 10 Injured "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Five people were killed, and dozens more were injured when a national guardsman attacked a synagogue on the Mediterranean island of Djerba during a yearly Jewish pilgrimage in Tunisia on May 9th, dealing a severe blow to its thriving tourism industry and the vibrant Jewish community.

The assailant, Wissam Khazri, first killed his colleague using his service weapon before seizing ammunition and heading towards the annual pilgrimage at the Ghriba synagogue, the oldest of its kind in Africa.

Upon reaching the site, Khazri immediately opened fire and killed his first victim before moving to the security units stationed at the temple. According to Tunisias interior minister Kamel Fekih, the gunman fired indiscriminately to cause as many victims as possible. Still, security forces shot him down before even reaching the synagogues entrance.

Tunisian authorities said he was killed within 120 seconds after arriving at the complex. The synagogue was locked down during the attack, and the people inside and outside the building were kept secure as authorities investigated what caused the attack.

Three Tunisian servicemen and two civilians were killed during the attack, with dozens more injured. Among those killed were Aviel Haddad, a 30-year-old Israeli-Tunisian, and 42-year-old Benjamin Haddad, a French-Tunisian. While Tunisian authorities said Khazri planned the attack, they did not explain his motive for the assault.

Was driving home from work and it was on. Air drumming and surprised I didnt get pulled over!

Bow wow wicka wicka wow wow.

Like a roller coaster.

Kickstart My Heart.

After riding the rip ride rollecoaster listening to this song when I listen to it on the car I feel like Im on that roller coaster again.

Good one!

Radar Love.

Back in the 1970s, when that song was a staple on rock and pop radio stations, my brother, 17 at the time, called the radio station and asked them to play that song and dedicated it to all the highway patrolmen.

Surprisingly, they did, including the dedication.

Metal Gods!

Breaking the Law.

Stopped listening to it when I spun out hit a sign and almost went over a cliff then the next day my mate spun on the same corner in the same car listening to the same song

Get in.

Danger Zone.

I had a beagle that rode with me often named Maverick and we would play Danger Zone in true corny fashion.

He knew that was his song and would be hyped. Miss that good old dog.

The Hidden Epidemic Fueling Chronic Disease "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Editor's Note: This article is a reprint. It was originally published June 20, 2021.

In this interview, repeat guest Dr. Thomas Levy, a board-certified cardiologist, shares his insights into an oft-forgotten and overlooked area of health, namely your oral health.

Oral infections are frequently a stealth contributor to chronic diseases such as breast cancer and heart disease. Levy became intrigued by the influence of oral health after meeting one of the pioneers in this field, Dr. Hal Huggins, who became one of his primary mentors.

As with his previous book, Rapid Virus Recovery, in which he details the use of nebulized hydrogen peroxide, Levy is giving away his book on oral health for free. You can download Hidden Epidemic: Silent Oral Infections Cause Most Heart Attacks and Breast Cancers on MedFox Publishings website.

The Importance of 3D Cone Beam Imaging

Hidden Epidemic is an apt title, as this issue is flying well below the radar of most health professionals. This, despite the fact that probably 95% of the population, or more, have some sort of infection in their mouth that is influencing their health in a negative way.

Part of my initial journey was seeing what Dr. Huggins was doing, in addition to [his use of vitamin C and] taking out mercury fillings he also focused on Dr. Weston Price's work, which shows that root canals are chronically infected, all of them, Levy says.

This was later documented by the work that Dr. Huggins did with Dr. Boyd Haley at the University of Kentucky. They had over 5,000 root canaled teeth extracted by dentists around the country submitted to them. They did sophisticated testing and found extremely potent toxins and anaerobic bacteria in all of them.

It brought out the point that infected teeth are the nuclear bomb of oxidative stress. All diseases [are] caused by oxidative stress and the lion's share of oxidative stress is caused by chronic infections.

Levy co-wrote a book about these findings with Dr. Robert Kulacz called The Toxic Tooth. About four or five years ago, Levy convinced a friend that she needed to extract three root canaled teeth. To get the lay of the land, he accompanied her to her 3D cone beam examination. 3D cone beam imaging is a very sophisticated in-depth examination that provides far more information than your average dental X-ray.

An ordinary X-ray (panorex), can find up to 40% of dental abscesses. If you do a slightly more sophisticated digital subtraction, you might add another 10%...

Gender Transition Surgery: Dreams Turned to Nightmares "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

In the video above, WhatsHerFace Entertainment dives into the unspoken reality of transgender sexual reassignment surgery and all of the pain, regret and horrors it entails.

Most clear-headed adults would realize that surgically and chemically altering your anatomy from male to female, or female to male, is a complex and painful process. The problem is that its typically not level-headed adults making the decision to undergo gender reassignment. Its primarily children who are being pushed into it, and they have no idea what theyre getting themselves into. Many adults dont even realize how difficult and painful it will be.

As reported by WhatsHerFace, all it takes for a young girl to start the gender transition process to become a boy is a letter of support from a therapist. Typically, the therapist will write a letter of support after just one or two visits. Next, shell be sent to an endocrinologist who, after a single visit, will prescribe her testosterone.

While thats alarmingly lax enough, some gender transition centers have cut through even that tiny bit of red tape. Some dont require any kind of mental health assessment, and a number of Planned Parenthood clinics are apparently handing out hormone replacement therapy (HRT) prescriptions on the first visit.

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) Is Not Harmless

While some pro-trans advocates insist that HRT is harmless and completely reversible once you quit taking the hormones, this simply isnt true.1 As reported by WhatsHerFace, the effects of testosterone on a girl can be both profound and permanent and can be seen within a matter of months. Effects of high-dose testosterone treatment include:

Voice deepening

Facial hair growth

Hair loss, receding hairline, balding

Increased libido

Sexual dysfunction

Increased aggression and unpredictable moods

Sterility

Enlargement of clitoris

Vaginal atrophy

As noted by Cleveland Clinic,2 many of these changes persist even if you completely stop taking testosterone. Can a child or teenager fully comprehend...

Can You "Catch" Alzheimer's Disease? "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

This story is about the microbial theory of Alzheimer's disease. Why am I writing about it? I am writing about it because it's like unraveling a detective plot. There is a disease that they say a lot of people have and that is caused, they say, by amyloid deposits in the brain. But then it turns out that the currently widely accepted narrative about this disease is based on forged research.

Then more research shows up suggesting that amyloid deposits might be a reaction, an immune response to something, even though nobody seems to know exactly to what.

Then there are general debates about brain microbiome, an admission that our brain is not sterile, and also growing evidence that a number of microorganisms (including bacteria, fungi, and especially parasites that are more common that we westerners give ourselves credit for) can cause a significant inflammatory response in the brain resulting in symptoms associated with Alzheimer's disease.

To add to the complexity of the plot, it is probably logical to assume that the microbes whichever microbes they are would have a much harder time causing wreckage if our bodies and our environments weren't poisoned so devastatingly, so through and through. But environmental toxicity is a part of our lives, it is superimposed on us (and COVID "vaccines" didn't help).

And because we are living in a world that unavoidably poisons us as we go about daily lives (hi, glyphosate, synthetic biology, geoengineering, aluminum, shedding, and EMFs!), I am writing this because it is practical to try and understand how those microbial interactions work in our current conditions and maybe acknowledge the fact that we don't live in an ideal world where it's easy to maintain the microbiome and the immunity of supergods.

We are like trees in a poisoned desert, stretching our branches toward the sun no matter what, fighting for life no matter what, and we will be stronger if we look at all factors involved.

(Yes yes, I am nodding at the famous debate about germ vs. terrain that in its extreme form seeks to strike down the concept of contagion as such, which to my senses is rather contrived since both germs and terrain exist in fact they are rather intermixed and they both play a role in this very complex world of ours.)

On a side note, to illustrate my general point that our understanding of the world tends to evolve and that it's good to keep an open m...

Shiba Inu Falls Below Critical Support, Is It Time For You To Buy? "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Shiba Inu remains one of the most popular meme coins but the performance of the cryptocurrency in the last year has been discouraging for holders. Despite remaining the second-largest meme coin, it has continued to decline in price and this has caused the asset to fall below very crucial support. And now that SHIB is now sitting at the $0.000008 level, is it a good time to buy the meme coin?

Shiba Inu Falls Below Critical Level

For Shiba Inu, the $0.000009 price level has served as good support for it through the ups and downs of the crypto market over the last year. This made it the most important point for bears to beat if they were to take control of the digital asset. However, over the last week, SHIB has fallen below $0.000009 which could present a good buying opportunity for the digital asset.

One reason why buying SHIB could be a good play right now is that the developments by the team are yet to reflect in the performance of the coin. Also, with the launch of the four new hubs in Shib: The Metaverse coming soon, the meme coin could see renewed interest and this interest could lead to a price rally.

Shiba Inu price chart from TradingView.com

The market has also been consolidating for a while with the likes of Bitcoin and Ethereum trading sideways for the last week. Once this consolidation ends, the likelihood of these large assets rallying upward remains high. And as always, a rally in these top cryptocurrencies would pull the rest of the market up with it.

If Bitcoin were to move above $30,000 again, SHIB could go as high as $0.00001 once more, which would mean a more than 10% gain for investors in the short run. Over the long term, the gains could be higher, assuming that the market has not completely exited its bull trend.

SHIB Could Be A Breakout Star

The Shiba Inu team continues to rapidly develop the ecosystem and the latest in its long line of products is its SHIB-themed cold wallets. These wallets have been in the works for a while and the official SHIB handle confirmed on Twitter that the wallets will be ready for preorder on May 29. The wallets are being developed in partnership with Swiss company Tangem to allow users to hold more than 6,000 coins.

Strike Expands Global Reach, Introduces USDT Support And Unveils Enhanced App At Bitcoin 2023 Conference "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

At Bitcoin 2023 in Miami Beach, global bitcoin payments service Strike announced that their service is now available in 65 more countries spread across six continents. This coincides with the introduction of the ability to receive funds in U.S. dollar equivalents, namely USDT. In addition, the app received a major facelift and overhaul that has made the UI cleaner, the UX friendlier and also includes a new logo.

Many of the countries that have been requested by users of Bitcoin Twitter are now able to instantly send and receive money utilizing the Lightning Network. In an interview with Strikes VP of Product, Manuela Rios, she explained that the app now has an effective reach of 3 billion people.

With Send Globally, the value prop is that you send dollars and receive as a local currency directly in a bank account on the other side this ones different what we found through user research that people on the other side in jurisdictions with weak currencies would say Hey this experience is amazing, but can I have a dollar equivalent?

In regards to purchasing Bitcoin, Rios said that globally, you dont see a seamless experience. So the new Strike app also functions as a Lightning wallet where you can buy and sell bitcoin via dollar equivalent rails.

At his speech at Bitcoin 2023, Strike CEO Jack Mallers explained the wider vision of the updates, saying "Were delivering a cash balance that the global south can rely on, and an awesome beautiful punk unconventional black and white brand, as the Fed is driving our own banks insolvent."

He also highlighted the companys response to feedback, displaying a set of tweets asking for LNURL support, shortly after announcing that the new app has LNURL support all usernames@strike.me function as a LNURL as of the launch.

We made a lot of product changes to support what we hope to become an amazing global money app, Mallers said. As a company, we know what were fighting for, we know who we are, we changed the way we looked, but we never changed the way we felt.

In addition to the new features and access, the app includes a simplified sign-up process in order to make signing up easier. The end goal for us is to serve 7-8 billion people, and well be stepping our way to make it to the countries that didnt make it in this MVP, Rios explained.

Rios explained the impact of the launch and additional features, saying that For the Bitcoiners, you can expect a beautiful Lightning wallet and a cost effective way to buy bitcoin, and for the people not yet so familiar with bitcoin, but are familiar with 109% inflation, giving them access to a U.S. dollar equivalent stablecoin is massive now you can save in something that wont be so quickly devalued.&nb...

Big Short Author Michael Lewis On The Financial Crisis, FTX And Bitcoins Freedom From Intermediaries "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Best-selling author and journalist Michael Lewis, known for writing The Big Short, Moneyball and The Blind Side, offered his perspective on the current financial landscape and the rapidly-changing world of cryptocurrency on stage today at Bitcoin 2023.

When I first encountered the idea of being able to use the blockchain technology to disintermediate financial intermediaries, I thought, thank God, Lewis said of his realizations when first researching Bitcoin. There are lots of unnecessary hands touching money when financial transactions occur. They've just been kind of hard baked into the system.

As the author of The Big Short, Lewis outlined the fundamental inequalities and short-sighted policies of the contemporary financial system that led to the economic crisis of 2007 and 2008. At Bitcoin 2023, he acknowledged how Bitcoin is designed as an escape from the problems that caused that crisis.

If you go back to Satoshis original paper, you know, line one, paragraph two, you eliminate the need for a trusted financial intermediary, Lewis said. Clearly, the very beginning of the spirit of the enterprise is mistrust of existing financial institutions, well earned mistrust, on the backend of the financial crisis.

Across his books and news reporting, Lewis has been praised for his ability to condense complicated financial concepts into digestible prose and demonstrate systemic issues through the experiences of the individuals within them. This skillset makes him uniquely qualified to digest and interpret the emerging cryptocurrency ecosystem, which experienced unprecedented turmoil last year with the implosion of numerous crypto projects, most notably FTX.

At Bitcoin 2023, he discussed his next book and movie project, which will focus on FTX, and described some of the insight he gained from spending time with former CEO Sam Bankman-Fried before and after its collapse.

"Not in a million years did I think I was going to write about Sam Bankman-Fried," Lewis recalled, adding that he was first asked to meet with Bankman-Friend by a friend on Wall Street, and found himself intrigued by his unique personality. "There's so obviously the potential for a great movie in it... so you want to let people know it's out there."

Lewis was joined on stage by Arthur Hayes, the co-founder of cryptocurrency exchange BitMEX. Hayes asked Lewis if he owned bitcoin, and Lewis quipped that it was in the FTX bankruptcy.

Hayes and Lewis also touched on the current banking crisis, with Lewis sharing the view that things have not really changed in the institutional system since 2008 that, if anything, things are worse for retail investors.

It seems inherently unstable right now, he said. You essentially created a handful of institutions that are too big to fail, and everyone knows their depo...

Gas Crisis Averted: NFT Marketplaces Witness Dramatic Reduction in Ethereum Fees "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Ethereum gas consumption landscape is transforming significantly as Non-Fungible Token (NFT) marketplaces no longer dominate the networks gas usage. According to a report by Nansen, a crypto analytics platform, NFTs have fallen behind in doing the most in Ethereum gas fees.

Notably, while Ethereums transition to proof-of-stake, in an event known as The Merge, is anticipated to address high gas prices, investors are now exploring alternatives like Cardano, which boasts greater cost-efficiency following its recent Hydra upgrade.

Ethereums Gas Consumption Shift

According to data revealed by Nansen on Friday, theres currently a noteworthy shift in Ethereums gas consumption patterns. NFT marketplaces, which once held the top spot, now account for a mere 3% of total gas usage.

Surprisingly, decentralized exchange (DEX) Uniswap has emerged as the primary gas consumer, representing 31.99% of gas consumption. This shift indicates a diversification in Ethereums transactional activity and a reduction in NFT-related gas usage. Nansen noted:

Gone were the days of NFTs topping the Ethereum gas-consuming charts. This week, of the top 20 gas consumers, OpenSea and Blur accounted for less than 10% combined. And against all gas consumers, the NFT marketplaces were just over 3%. Uniswap in contrast was 10x more 31.99%.

This substantial decline in NFT-related gas consumption can be attributed to various factors, including the networks congestion caused by an influx of meme coin trading, notably the recently hyped frog-themed meme coin PEPE.

This surge in meme coin transactions resulted in heightened gas prices, prompting users to explore alternatives and alleviating the burden on NFT marketplaces.

Navigating the Gas Crisis

Ethereums gas crisis has persisted despite The Merge, which is said to enhance scalability and reduce gas fees by migrating the network to a proof-of-stake consensus model. In response, some investors have sought solace in blockchain platforms offering cost-efficient alternatives.

With its recent Hydra upgrade, Cardano has gained attention for its ability to handle transactions more economically. The implementation of Hydra&...

Speaking At Bitcoin 2023, Tulsi Gabbard Describes How A U.S. CBDC Threatens Freedom "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Former congresswoman and presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard addressed the audience at Bitcoin 2023 today, focusing on the institutional problems with U.S. politics and elected leaders who seek to consolidate power rather than serve constituents.

I served in Congress for eight years and ran for president in 2020, and while we like to have this idea that we have great courageous leaders in Washington unfortunately, thats not the case, Gabbard said. Ultimately, theyre driven by a fear of losing power and losing control and, at the heart of it, theyre afraid of us. Theyre afraid of a free society.

In particular, she highlighted the Biden administrations exploration of a central bank digital currency (CBDC), underscoring how such a project would be antithetical to the privacy- and freedom-preserving qualities of cash transactions. As outlined in its white paper by Satoshi Nakamoto, Bitcoin: A Peer-To-Peer Electronic Cash System, Bitcoin was designed to preserve these qualities in a digital way.

The Biden administrations move toward implementing a central bank digital currency is their latest effort towards exerting control and taking away our freedom, Gabbard said. No matter how many flowery words they use to deny that there is ill intent no matter how many times they say, Hey this is for your own good... But ultimately, we know this is about their insatiable mission and desire for total control.

She also suggested that those in power are combative toward or disinterested in Bitcoin because it cannot be manipulated by any third parties.

You would think they would be interested in how Bitcoin is transforming the lives of people around the world, but they dont actually care about people, she said.

Michelangelos David (15011504) simply cannot catch a break: Scottish advertisers recently deemed the 17-foot marble sculpture too explicit to be featured in ads for the Glasgow subway system.

A Man Found a Declaration of Independence Inside a Four Dollar Painting

Talk about a national treasure! Long before Nicholas Cage and his friends stole the Declaration of Independence in their hit film, a man lived out a tale of finding treasure in real life. In 1991, a man shopping at a thrift sale purchased an ugly painting for $4 because he liked the frame. Behind the painting, he discovered a folded-up copy of the first printing of the Declaration of Independence. This shockingly rare find ended up selling for over $7 million at auction in 2000a true tale of hidden history and exceptionally lucky thrifting.

When the man took apart his purchase, he found a document folded in an envelope. The man did not originally realize its significance, but he saved the cool discovery. [H]e kept the declaration, which he had found behind the painting, David Redden, who helped sell the document at auction, told The New York Times in 1991. It was folded up, about the size of a business envelope. He thought it might be an early 19th-century printing and worth keeping as a curiosity.

A friend convinced the man to take the document to Sotheby's for more information. It turned out to be printed in 1776, part of a run of 25 printed right after the signing. These legendary copies were printed on July 4, 1776the same day the original was signed at Independence Hall in Philadelphia, PA. Printed by John Dunlap, the official printer to the Continental Congress, they were sent out the next morning to spread word of the monumental decision made the day before to separat...

That anxiety crept up when I passed through the gallerys vestibule as a circular speaker pumped symphonic melodies between two glass doors, and mounted when I stepped into the quiet gallery and felt like I was in a backrooms simulation of a skeletal Bed Bath & Beyond liquidation sale. The exhibition, titled Worms, A Good Business Model, felt exceptionally liminal with its sparse attendance at 3pm on a Wednesday coupled with the featured works stripped-back aesthetics compared to the <a href= "https://hyperallergic.com/817607/reclamation-and-care-in-hunter-college-mfa-thesis-exhibition/" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">first part of the show</a> a few weeks ago.</p> <p>But that breathing room and its accompanying silence conveyed the mutual respect shared between this cohort of five artists whose featured works grappled with the meaning of containment. Charity Apologizes for Banning Peer Support Worker Applicants Who Receive Psychological Support "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

From The Independent: A mental health charity has sincerely apologised after one of its job adverts barred applicants who were receiving any kind of psychological support from applying.

In the specification section for a peer support worker role, Mental Health Matters said anyone who had direct engagement with mental health/other secondary support services or had done in the past two years was ineligible.

The charity which says on its website that it has over 35 years of experience in delivering high-quality mental health and social care services blamed the wording within the advert for the 22,000-a-year role on an administrative error and said it had been withdrawn.

But this was not enough to satisfy Katy Stepanian, who spotted the mistake when she read the description at the charitys Crisis Recovery Service in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.

. . . I was just shocked to see such blatant discrimination, not only from a mental health charity but also for a peer worker role where the whole point of the role is to have lived experience of a mental health issue and use that to support a service user, the 33-year-old told The Independent.

They should have known better.'

100 Top Photographers Come Together for Special Sale to Benefit the Ocean "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

100 Top Photographers Come Together for Special Sale to Benefit the Ocean

A couple of crabeater seals rest on a bed of ice under the Antarctic sun

Icy Rest by Cristina Mittermeier.
A couple of crabeater seals rest on a bed of ice under the Antarctic sun, framed by a couple of overturned icebergs whose surface displays the scars and dimples of a long journey at sea before arriving in this shallow bay to end their days.

One hundred of the world's top photographers have come together for the good of the ocean. Put together by renowned conservation photographers Paul Nicklen, Cristina Mittermeier, and Chase Teron, 100 for the Ocean is a remarkable opportunity to purchase high-quality photography while helping the planet. This print fundraiser is a limited-time opportunity to get fine art photography at an affordable price. And the best thing is, all of the profits go to ocean research and advocacy charities.

Curated by Kathy Moran, co-founder of Moran Griffin, Inc. and former National Geographic deputy director of photography, the sale brings together some of today's best photography talent. Readers of My Modern Met will see many familiar names on the list, like Joel Sartore, Robert Irwin, Pete Sousa, and Chris Burkard.

It's a real privilege to have so many amazing photographers and a curator like Kathy Moran, to band together to support this, says Nicklen, co-founder of SeaLegacy and 100 for the Ocean. Being a photographer is often a solitary pursuit, but to have communities come together like this, all for the purpose of good, to amplify and help grow other organizations, is a really beautiful thing. It reinforces the importance of the ocean in everyones lives.

All of the prints start at just $100, and with so much work to choose from, it would be difficult for anyone to narrow the field down to one purchase. Fro...

NFT Market Takes A Hit: Sales Could Drop Below $1 Billion For The First Time In 2023 "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

The Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT) industry has been a hub of innovation and growth over the past year, but as it approaches the midway point of 2023, the market is showing signs of maturation and change. According to a recent report by DappRadar, NFT sales could fall below $1 billion for the first time this year.

NFT Market Facing Headwinds

According to the report, the NFT market shows signs of a potential shift in May 2023, with the trading volume reaching $333 million from $2.3 million in sales, a trend that may result in the first month of this year with a trading volume under $1 billion.

NFT

Despite this decline in sales, the NFT industry is still showing strong activity and engagement, with daily unique active wallets (dUAW) linked to NFT activities reaching 173,000, marking a 27% increase from the previous month.

However, the NFT market is facing significant challenges, with many traders selling their large NFT holdings at a loss to participate in the Memecoin frenzy, according to DappRadar. This has led to an uptick in on-chain activity, driving Ethereums gas fees above $100 and negatively impacting the volume of low-value NFT trades on the blockchain.

Despite this, the NFT market is still experiencing significant developments and events. Elon Musks tweet on May 10, 2023, referencing the Milady Maker collection, fueled a trading volume spike, reaching $13.95 million and doubling the number of trades in the same week.

Additionally, the Pudgy Penguins project secured $9 million in seed funding, debuting the Pudgy Toys collection, which amassed a total trading volume of $7.89 million the following week.

Furthermore, the top ten NFT sales reveal stalwarts like the Bored Ape Yacht Club and CryptoPunks dominating the NFT landscape. However, a new entrant has emerged in the sixth position an ADA handle, a personal crypto domain on the ADA blockchain, sold for $182,089, equivalent to 500,000 ADA.

Feeling at Home at New Yorks Contemporary African Art Fair "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Growing up, one of my greatest joys was visiting my grandfathers brownstone in Harlem. It was a haven where I could run in the streets in the summer and feel the most like myself, the most Black. Those memories began to come back to me as I walked to the ninth annual 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair in New York. Across five floors of the Malt House in the Manhattanville Factory District on West 127th Street, 26 galleries from across Africa, Europe, and the United States are presenting the work of over 80 artists from Africa and its diaspora through this Sunday, May 21.

I was reminded of the rarity of Black attendance at art shows while visiting a gallery opening earlier this week. I was one of only three Black people present, and upon entering, the security guard asked if my name was on the list for the opening, but did not ask that of the White person who walked in after me. At 1-54, I was excited to immerse myself in African art in a neighborhood that makes me feel proud of my Blackness. Kimberly Drew, the co-author of Black Futures (2020), whom I promptly stopped on her way out of the show, pointed out the fact that this is rare in New York, as many art exhibition spaces are placed in the wealthiest neighborhoods, thus excluding many people of color.

Women Talked About How They Had No Idea They Were Pregnant Until Late in Their Terms "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

What a strange experience it must be as a woman to have absolutely no idea that you are pregnantespecially when its getting close to GO time!

But the women youre about to hear from all had no clue they were going to have a child (or children) until way late in their pregnancies.

Take a look at their wild stories below!

Had no clue.

I didnt know I was pregnant right up until giving birth to my little one.

Id recently quit my job because I really wasnt happy working there. I was scheduling in two weeping sessions a day so I clearly could not cope. Its around this when I first started with morning sickness although at the time I thought Id caught a stomach bug.

After being so sick that I missed my period I thought Id better take a test just incase, it came back negative and I assumed that it was correct since I had no reason to doubt these tests before. I often missed periods due to stress, plus being irregular anyway I didnt really feel that worried.

After a few more weeks the sickness had died down but I still wasnt feeling right so I took the other test in the box thinking that it might have been too early to test last time, and that one came back negative too. So I just left it at that.

A few days later the sickness had stopped so I didnt go see a doctor since I assumed that Id just had a bad illness that was made worse from all the stress Id been carrying. Besides which I could not even get through on the phone to make an appointment so I thought there was no point bothering.

I was eating normally again but because I was sti...

Robert Kennedy Jr. Makes Campaign Debut At Bitcoin 2023: Free Money Is As Important As Free Expression "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. made his first public appearance as a presidential candidate at the Bitcoin 2023 conference today, sharing his own experiences with Bitcoin, warning about how technology is enabling government totalitarianism around the world and describing how he would protect the rights of Bitcoiners if elected president.

As president, I will make sure that your right to hold and use bitcoin is inviolable, Kennedy said. "I am an ardent defender and lifelong defender of civil liberties and Bitcoin is both an exercise and a guarantee of those freedoms.

Kennedy told the crowd that he was first inspired by Bitcoin as a critical freedom technology after learning about how it was used to circumvent financial restrictions during the Canadian trucker protest last year.

None of these lawful and peaceful protestors had violated any law But suddenly, they found that they could not access their money, their bank accounts to pay their mortgages or feed their families, he recalled. When I witnessed this devastating use of government repression, I realized for the first time how free money is as important as free expression.

Kennedy has publicly expressed his support for Bitcoin since May 2023, acknowledging its separation from other cryptocurrencies and indicating that legislators should support its development rather than hinder it, as with regulations like the Biden administrations proposed tax on energy used by miners. On stage, he reinforced his distaste for such regulations and he outlined the steps his administration would take to drive Bitcoin innovation in the U.S.

"First, I will defend the right of self custody of bitcoin and other digital assets," he said. Second, I will uphold the right to run a node at home Third, I will defend use-neutral, industry-neutral regulation of energy Fourth, I will make sure that the United States remains the global hub of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies I will reverse the governments growing hostility toward this industry.

Finally, he said that he would look closely at whether individuals like Ross Ulbricht, the founder of darknet, bitcoin-based marketplace Silk Road who received a double life sentence in 2013, were prosecuted for actual crimes, or as a means to crackdown on crypto.

I will consider pardoning them and I will act very quickly to do so, Kennedy added.

Kennedy launched his Democratic primary bid shortly before...

Russia Claims A Radioactive Cloud Is Moving Toward Europe "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

The secretary of the Russian Security Council, Nikolay Patrushev, has claimed that the destruction of depleted uranium shells in Ukraine has produced a radioactive cloud that has been blown toward Western Europe. The claims that the explosion created spreading radiation were quickly dismissed by mainstream media and The IAEA (The International Atomic Energy Agency).

Unconfirmed reports have circulated in Ukraine regarding the target of a Russian strike last Saturday, which Moscow said destroyed an ammunition depot in the city of Khmelnytskyi. According to the claims, the military facility was used to store British-provided depleted uranium shells. It has been suggested that the material may have been turned into dust by powerful explosions at the depot.

Can You Smell When Rain Is Coming? Science Says Some People Can and Some Cant

Smiling Girl Under the Rain

Photo: hquality/Depositphotos

Are you one of those people who can leave the house on a summer day and swear that you smell rain in the air? The world is firmly divided into two campsthose whose nose can detect when rain is on the way and those who think that capability is utter nonsense. While not everyone can smell the rain before it begins, there is actually scientific evidence that some people do possess this capability.

Those with good olfactory senses are often able to pick up a scent that has, according to Scientific American, a sweet, pungent zing that's been likened to chlorine bleach. This is owed to ozone, which can be emitted from things like fertilizer and paint, as well as natural sources. Ozone can be created by an electrical charge that signals an oncoming storm. Downdrafts from a thunderstorm can carry the ozone created at high altitudes down to ground level and into our noses. While humans' ability to smell ozone differs, there are people who can pick up on even slight traces and know that it's probably time to grab an umbrella.

Another term associated with the smell of rain is petrichor. This word refers to the potpourri of scents that arrives once rain has arrived. All that falling water kicks up lots of molecules that produce scents.  First coined in 1964 by mineralogists Isabel Joy Bear and Richard Thomas, petrichor happens when airborne molecules from decaying plants or animals settle onto the surface of rocks. When the rain comes and hits the surface, the water droplets burst and release these scents into the air.
