Largest Pork Producer in the U.S. Now Owned by $22 Billion Chinese Meat Processing Company "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Smithfield Corporation, the largest pork producer in the United States, is a household name when it comes to processed meats. However, many consumers are unaware that the company was purchased in 2013 by WH Foods, a $22 billion Chinese meat processing corporation. This acquisition has sparked concerns about the implications of foreign control over a major player in the American food industry, as well as the environmental and social consequences of Smithfields factory farming practices.

Background and Acquisition

The Smithfield Corporation, headquartered in Smithfield, Virginia, is known for its sausages, roasts, ribs, bacon, and more. In 2013, it was purchased by WH Foods of China, a company that generated $22.3 billion in revenue in 2017. The acquisition allowed WH Foods to expand its global presence and secure a steady supply of pork for the Chinese market, which has been affected by African swine fever and a decline in pig population. Smithfield does not disclose the exact amount of meat it exports to China, but the company sold about 38.8 million pounds of pork to the country during a few months.

Environmental Consequences

Smithfield Foods factory farming practices have come under scrutiny for the environmental damage they cause. In 2017, drone footage revealed a large, football-stadium sized lake filled with pig urine and feces at the companys largest pork farming facility. The footage, secretly recorded by Mark Devries as part of his investigative documentary, Speciesism: The Movie, exposed the harsh conditions in which pigs are raised, cramped together in long buildings and unable to move. The waste generated by these factory farms is disposed of by spraying it into the air, which has a detrimental impact on the surrounding environment.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has also cited Smithfield Foods for violations of the Clean Water Act. In 1997, the company was fined $12.6 million for discharging pollutants into the Pagan River in Virginia. Despite these incidents, Smithfield maintains that its practices adhere to regulations and that its facilities are clean and well-maintained.

Social Implications

The communities surrounding Smithfields factory farms are predominantly low-income families, who bear the brunt of the pollution and health risks associated with these practices. Dr. Steve Wing of the University of North Carolina explains that the waste sprayed into the air can drift into neighboring communities, causing respiratory issues and other health problems. Studies have found higher rates of asthma and respiratory symptoms among children and adults living near these facilities.

These communities often...

The Belly Button, the Pechoti Method, and the Science Behind It All "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

The belly button, or navel, is a unique and fascinating part of the human body. Not only is it the former site of the umbilical cord, which connected mother and baby during pregnancy, but it also has an array of biological connections and potential health benefits. In this article, we will delve into the science of the belly button, discuss the Pechoti method, and explore the use of castor oil packs for health and wellness.

The Belly Button: A Vital Connection

The belly button, formed after the umbilical cord is severed at birth, is the bodys only natural scar. It is a remnant of the crucial connection between mother and baby, through which oxygen, nutrients, and water were supplied to the developing fetus. Even after birth, many blood vessels and nutrient-carrying connections remain in the area around the navel.

The Pechoti Gland and the Pechoti Method

Behind the belly button lies a region known as the Pechoti, named after the Pechoti gland, which is thought to contain over 70,000 veins. These veins can connect to almost every part of the body, providing pathways for nutrient absorption and distribution. The Pechoti method takes advantage of this unique vascular network by applying natural and essential oils to the navel to deliver their beneficial properties throughout the body.

Proponents of the Pechoti method claim it can help alleviate various medical conditions, including dryness of the eyes, face, heels, and lips; joint and knee pain; acne; pancreas health; lethargy; abdominal pain; and symptoms of colds and flus. However, it is important to note that scientific evidence supporting the Pechoti method is limited, and more research is needed to validate these claims.

Common Oils Used in the Pechoti Method

Various oils are used in the Pechoti method to address specific health concerns. Some common examples include:

  1. Neem Oil: Used for acne and pimples.
  2. Almond Oil: Used for dry skin and promoting a healthy glow.
  3. Mustard Oil: Used for dry skin, chapped lips, and mild intestinal detox.
  4. Olive Oil: Used to improve fertility.
  5. Thyme Oil: Used as a relaxant, diuretic, and expectorant.

It is important to note that some oils, like thyme oil, must be diluted with a carrier oil before being applied to the skin to prevent irritation.

Incorporating the Pechoti Method: How to Apply and Recommended Frequency

To apply oils using the Pechoti method, begin by choosing an oil that addresses your specific health concern. Once you have selected the appropriate oil, make sure to dilute any potent essential oils with a carrier oil, such as coconut or jojoba oil, to avoid skin irritation. Then, follow these simple steps:

  1. Clean the area around your belly button with mild soap and water to remove dirt and debris. Pat the area dry with a clean towel.
  2. Using a dropper or a cotton sw...

China Started Development of COVID Vaccines BEFORE The Outbreak "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

China began the development of two COVID-19 vaccines before the ruling classes even instructed the mainstream media to report on the outbreak. In a 300-page document, compiled by the United States Senate,  the rulers accuse Chinese researchers of starting work on a vaccine program in mid-November of 2019.

The mainstream media and ruling classes are using their expertise to declare that this means that China knew about the outbreak and was already preparing for it. They also claim that it adds to evidence that the country attempted to cover up early infections before the World Health Organisation (WHO) was informed on December 31.

What it looks like to rational thinkers is that this scamdemic has always been about a vaccine, and any story that convinces people to inject themselves several times with an mRNA concoction can be crafted into a narrative and spoonfed to the naive masses.

The report also concludes that the pandemic most likely resulted from a lab leak and a research-related incident in Wuhan, according to a report by The Daily Mail. The report also suggests two unintentional spill-over events may have happened just weeks apart.

One section of the report focuses on Chinas vaccine development.  Investigations by the committee show a team led by Professor Yusen Zhou, from the Academy of Military Medical Sciences, filed a patent for a Covid-19 vaccine on February 24, 2020.  Experts interviewed by the investigators said it would have taken at least two to three months to reach this stage, suggesting that work must have started in November 2019, one month before China publicly released details on the virus.

According to the report, this investigation found evidence that China began SARS-CoV-2 virus vaccine development no later than November 2019.

To begin building a vaccine construct, developers had to have the full genomic sequence of SARS-CoV-2. The full genomic sequence of SARS-CoV-...

French Cyclists Create Record-Breaking GPS Drawing of a 637-Mile-Long Dinosaur

Richie Porte on the Mountains Roads - Tour de France 2015

Photo: razvanphoto/Depositphotos (Not a photo of the actual event.)

Four French cyclists have claimed the Guinness World Record for the largest GPS drawing by a bicycle team. Their winning piece: a 1,025 km-long (637-mile-long) depiction of a velociraptor that took 43 hours and 47 minutes to complete. The dinosaur's body was drawn over the course of six days, encompassing several French counties, including Cher, Saone-et-Loire, Indre, Nievre, Creuse, Puy-de-dome, and Allier.

The group chose a velociraptor as their inspiration because it includes velo in the name, which means bicycle in French. It required a year of planning to figure out the route that would bring the dinosaur to life, and they finally began their record-breaking ride in November 2022. Guinness announced their record in March 2023.

Dinosaurs are proof that such strong species can quickly become extinct, Maxime Brugre, one of the cyclists, says. We are the main culprits of this environmental crisis, but also its main victims. As such, the future is in our hands and cycling is one of the best ways to contribute to change. He and the team describe themselves as triathletes and daily commuters who emphasize the benefits of using bicycles over cars. They shared their dinosaur creation with the fitness app Strava and have received thousands of likes by others in the cycling community.

Working on Ice Floes, David Popa Renders Ephemeral Portraits that Fracture and Split into the Sea "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

A portrait of a woman is rendered on a fractured ice floe

Bemuse. All images David Popa, shared with permission

After a decade of living in Finland, David Popa has established a fruitful creative collaboration that would be impossible in his native New York City. The artist frequently works on land and sea, particularly the fractured ice floes of the Baltic, to render large-scale portraits and figurative murals that draw connections between the ephemerality of human life and the environment. Whether depicting his wife or newborn child in intimate renderings, he highlights the inevitability of change as time passes, seasons transition, and the climate warms.

Popas use of such unconventional canvases emerged from a desire for adventure and child-like play, when he put on a drysuit, climbed onto his paddleboard, and ventured out to a frozen mass. These spaces were so mysterious and so interesting, the artist says. I derived an enormous amount of inspiration from going out into these ethereal spots. After taking some drone photos of the areas, he began working, spraying the contours of a cheek or lip onto the icy matter.

Coachella 2023 Art Installations

Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival 2023 installation view of Kumkum Fernando, The Messengers, photo by Lance Gerber, courtesy of Coachella

In preparation for the 2023 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, artists from around the world were selected to transform the desert landscape. This year's edition features the massive sculptural works by Kumkum Fernando, Vincent Leroy, Gven zel, and Maggie West, which permeate the skyline with architectural shapes, bright colors, and opalescent details. From towering robotic figures to larger-than-life flora, these eye-catching pieces envelop the festival with vibrancy and creativity.

While Coachella is commonly known for its musical aspect, art plays a major role in setting the atmosphere and enhancing the experience of the festival. In selecting projects from around the world, our intention is to bring together artists, architects, and designers whose practices invite participation, inclusion, and transformation, says curatorial advisor Raffi Lehrer. We strive to create a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural program that reflects our audience and the many performing artists that grace the stages of the festival. The resulting works will become iconspart of the identity of this year's show. These installations act simultaneously as way-finding markers, points of congregation, and most importantly, accessible entry points for show-goers to experience art.

Regulatory Limbo: the Case of NAC "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

The more effective a natural product, the greater the risk if it sits in an uncertain, regulatory no mans land.

From ANH-International

In a world in which humans are pumping ever greater amounts of new-to-nature chemicals into the environment, were asking a lot from our detoxification systems. Your kidneys, and your liver in particular, do a lot of the heavy lifting. But theres a lot happening in our bloodstreams and within every cell of our bodies too, particularly in undoing the damage that toxins and associated free radicals can do as they circulate around our system before they are turned into less toxic, or sometimes even, more toxic, metabolites, or theyre excreted, or stored in body fat.

As humans, weve got two main ways of addressing this problem.

We can reduce the output of chemicals into the environment and into our bodies by affecting both the supply/production and demand (= difficult, but EU regulators are trying to do this by regulating industrial chemicals via the REACH program).

Or we can help our bodies handle the toxic burden better, accelerating the rate by which toxic compounds are metabolised and got rid of in our pee or poop (= easy, but an approach thats almost entirely ignored by health authorities and the medical profession).

Such is the seriousness of the problem of the growing toxic burden, one that contributes to many of the cancers and a substantial amount of the heart, neurodegenerative, and other diseases that plague society today, we argue we should deploy both strategies together as best we can.

Take so-called forever chemicals known more scientifically as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASsby example. They represent a very large group of thousands (up to 6 million) of highly persistent organofluorine products. They are therefore a key group of persistent organic pollutants or POPs and exposure has been linked to increased risk of dyslipidemia (abnormally high cholesterol), immune suppression (antibody response), reduced infant and foetal growth, and higher rates of kidney cancer. Our US team is involved in a detailed study on PFAS which will be released soon. The EU lawmakers are ...

Orange Pill App Is Accelerating Hyperbitcoinization In Real Life "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Orange Pill App brings Bitcoiners together, demonstrates demand for adoption to local businesses and propels the bitcoin standard.

This is an opinion editorial by Robert Hall, a content creator and small business owner who has an Orange Pill App profile.

The team over at Orange Pill App is breaking new ground toward Bitcoin adoption on a peer-to-peer level. But if you dont know anything about this platform, here is a quick rundown:

Its an app available on iOS or Android that helps you find local Bitcoiners in your area. How often have you felt like you are the only Bitcoiner in town? I know I have plenty of time. Wouldnt it be nice to make new friends that love Bitcoin as much as you do in real life?

This is what the Orange Pill App is all about: building friendships and building a thriving Bitcoin community one meetup or connection at a time. As of this writing, there are thousands of users.

Users can list their Bitcoin-focused events and attract attendees from their areas. Source: Orange Pill App

In addition to helping you to find new Bitcoiners in your area, Orange Pill App is also on a mission to orange pill businesses. How much better would it be if we could spend sats at our local bars, hotels or restaurants? That would be awesome, right?

It definitely would add some rocket fuel toward the goal of achieving a bitcoin standard. To make this happen, Orange Pill App has partnered with BTCMap.org to use demand-side pressure to orange pill merchants en masse.

When this new feature is launched, the app will be able to plug the number of its users into BTC Map to show how many Bitcoiners are in a given area. This data will be shown to business owners so they can understand if there is an active group of Bitcoiners ready to spend sats at their establishments.

This is a win for small business owners, because they can instantly gain new customers without advertising. Bitcoiners are eager to spend sats and support businesses that accept bitcoin. One thing I understand about Bitcoiners is they are loyal and believe in Bitcoin to the core of their beings.

Learn how Kenia balances being a full-time working mother of two while preparing for a new career "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Meet Kenia! A photographer from Toole, Utah whose passion for the camera sparked an interest in learning new computer skills. Read more below about Kenias journey and how, through the Google IT Support Professional Certificate program, shes on her way to a new career in tech.

Im a bilingual photographer, mother, and now a certified Google IT Professional thanks to Coursera! Ive held an array of jobs in different fields, and photography has always been a particular passion of mine. With photography, I was reintroduced to computers and technology through a camera lens. After 6 years, I decided it was time to add to my well of knowledge to better myself and my family. Specifically, I wanted to learn more about how I could better serve my customers through customer service and computer troubleshooting.

My biggest concern about starting this program was scheduling. With young children, it would be nearly impossible for me to physically go to school or an internship. After doing some brainstorming and research, I stumbled upon Coursera. A completely remote, learn-at-your-own-pace program? Sign me up!

I decided to enroll in the Google IT Support Professional Certificate program. Through this program, Ive gained skills in IT like troubleshooting, system administration, and networking. Ive also been able to implement my troubleshooting skills on my own personal computer. To deepen my knowledge of other user operating systems, I also enrolled in Operating Systems and You: Becoming a Power User program from Google. Currently, I am still in the process of researching and learning more about the IT field. While photography will always be my passion, Im also now interested in working in the IT field as a new career. I am thrilled to explore the world of tech further. I would love to connect with other individuals in the IT sphere and learn from their experiences.

FDA Presses Forward on Anti-Aging Supplement Ban "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

The agency is doubling down on its position that nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) is not a legal supplement. Action Alert!

In a letter recently made public on the federal docket, the FDA has restated the position it announced in October 2022 that NMN does not meet the definition of a dietary supplement because, in the agencys view, it was studied as a drug before it was ever sold in or as a supplement. The FDA is clearly gearing up for a ban of this critical anti-aging supplement. We need a strong, sustained grassroots response from the natural health community to protect access to this supplement; we also need to support changes in this law that threatens many other natural compounds from being turned into drugs.

The letter, dated January 23, 2023 but made public on March 29, 2023, is in response to a new dietary ingredient notification filed by Effepharm, Ltd., in November 2022 with additional information submitted in January 2023. The letter reiterates the FDAs position that NMN is not a legal supplement due to the back-channel at the FDA that weve described many times before.

For supplements that are considered new under the lawthat is, they werent sold in or as a supplement before 1994companies must submit a notification to the FDA with studies to prove that it is safe before that ingredient can be marketedthis is referred to as a new dietary ingredient (NDI) notification. But heres the issue: if a drug company files an investigational new drug application (IND) and studies that ingredient before the FDA receives an NDI notification on it from a supplement company, it can no longer be sold as a supplement.

This back-channel is threatening the existence of a number of banned through this mechanism; CBD and NAC are also in jeopardy due to this loophole. Weve explained previously that this provision inherently favors drug companies. IND applications are confidential. A drug company can file an IND on an ingredient and sit on it for years. Meanwhile, an innovative supplement company could develop that nutrient into a great product, do the studies to comply with the FDAs ridiculous notification process, and then create a market for that productand then the drug company can swoop in with their IND, kick the supplements out of the market, and create a monopoly.

Last month, ANH-USA filed a Citizens Petition with our allies, the Natural Products Association, calling for the FDA to issue a regulation stating that N...

The Labels On Your Food Are Shielding Lies "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Thanks to the FDA, food labels are about to get even more misleading. Action Alert!

Consumers beware: the FDA is on a crusade to make you healthier! This is undoubtedly a noble goal, but the FDA and the federal government have proven completely incapable of providing sound advice about diet and nutrition to Americans. The FDA has released a draft guidance to inform food companies about how they should make dietary guidance statements on food labels. The whole purpose of the guidance is to bring food labels into closer alignment with the recommendations contained in the Dietary Guidelines for Americansa document that is full of outdated and incorrect advice. This guidance will result in food labels that do not provide us with an accurate picture of which foods are healthy and not.

The agency explains in the guidance that its goal is to improve dietary patterns in the United States to help reduce the burden of nutrition-related chronic diseases and advance health equity. Towards that end, the FDA reminds us that they have proposed a definition of healthy to better inform consumers about healthy eating patterns (more on this below). The use of dietary guidance statements is another tool to increase the information at consumers disposal to make healthier food choices. Dietary guidance statements include things like Eat leafy green vegetables as part of a nutritious dietary pattern, or Make half your grains whole grain. The FDA explains to food companies that consensus reports from government bodieslike the Dietary Guidelinescan form the basis of dietary guidance statements.

This guidance helps to codify the problematic U.S. Department of Agricultures Dietary Guidelines. Weve analyzed the problems with the governments recommendations in previous coverage:

  • Added sugar. The government recommends that Americans consume less than 10 percent of calories per day from added sugars. But why is the government recommending any added sugar at all? Integrative doctors or nutrition professionals will advise patients (in most cases) to strictly limit their sugar intake, and to eliminate added sugar completely.
  • Saturated fats. Like added sugars, the Dietary Guidelines tell us to limit calories from saturated fat to 10 percent of total calories per day. The claim that saturated fat is a risk to heart health has been...

Nutritional Outrages of the Week "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

From Ronald Hoffman, MD

A trio of food stories caught my eye this week . . .

Turning breakfast cereal into a bedtime snack: A problem for the food industry is that there are only a finite number of mouths available to eat breakfast. Demographically, the percentages of kids and teenagers are declining. Sales of breakfast cereals are, in essence, capped out. Especially because more people are turning away from sugary, high-carb morning meals, which are known to produce a roller-coaster effect on blood sugar, setting the stage for increased appetite and poor food choices later in the day. Once demonized as sources of saturated fat and cholesterol, eggs are regaining their rightful place as high-protein, satiating breakfast choices.

How then, to reinvigorate the market for these high-margin, cheap-to-produce processed cereals?

Credit Big Food for creativity. Theyve rolled out a campaign for Sweet Dreams. A headline announces, Post moves from breakfast to nighttime with new sleep-promoting cereal.

Cleverly capitalizing on the pervasiveness of sleep problems among Americans, lately exacerbated by Coronasomnia, Post claims that Sweet Dreams is the first ready-to-eat cereal designed to encourage a healthy sleep routine while satisfying late-night hunger. According to recent surveys, a quarter of American adults obtained less than the requisite seven hours of sleep per night, and 15% of adults had trouble falling asleep most days or every day in the past 30 days.

The theory is that hunger pangs interfere with sleep, and that the smattering of vitamins and minerals with a dash of calming lavender and chamomile facilitate relaxation and support melatonin.

For 130 million American adults, a good nights sleep is elusive. You deserve good sleep, and we want to help you enjoy it! So, we made Sweet Dreams cereal, the first ready-to-eat cereal specially designed to support a good sleep routine and a fresh start to the next day.

The Nutrition Facts label on Sweet Dreams reveals a cup (who eats just a cup of dry cereal?) yields 230 calories, of which 46 grams are carbohydrates, a third of which (16 grams) come from simple sugars. The packaging states it is made with whole grains but its not clear how much. Suspect ingredients include sunflower oil, canola o...

A Shocking UN Document Reveals The Sick Sexual Agenda That The Globalists Plan To Push On The Whole World "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

They arent going to stop until they impose their twisted values on the entire planet.  If you have not heard of The 8 March Principles yet, you can find the entire document right here.  It is essentially a blueprint for synchronizing all global laws regarding sexuality, gender and reproductive rights.  UNAIDS is one of the organizations that was involved in drafting this document, and on their official website they claim that many global laws that prohibit certain types of sexual behavior not only violate human rights, but the fundamental principles of criminal law themselves.  Alarmingly, among the laws that are being targeted by the globalists are laws that ban adults from having sex with children. It turns out that they have been working on The 8 March Principles for quite a long time. In fact, UNAIDS says that it took over five years to finalize this new document
The principles are the outcome of a 2018 workshop organized by UNAIDS and OHCHR along with the ICJ to discuss the role of jurists in addressing the harmful human rights impact of criminal laws. The meeting resulted in a call for a set of jurists principles to assist the courts, legislatures, advocates and prosecutors to address the detrimental human rights impact of such laws. Help kids practice slowing down and taking the time to fully comprehend a math topic or problem-solving situation with these classic tools of learning: See. Wonder. Create.

See: Look carefully at the details of the numbers, shapes, or patterns you see. What are their attributes? How do they relate to each other? Also notice the details of your own mathematical thinking. How do you respond to a tough problem? Which responses are most helpful? Where did you get confused, or what makes you feel discouraged?

Wonder: Ask the journalists questions: who, what, where, when, why, and how? Who might need to know about this topic? Where might we see it in the real world? When would things happen this way? What other way might they happen? Why? What if we changed the situation? How might we change it? What would happen then? How might we figure it out?

From Revelations to Revolutions  Why a "transition" is no longer a sustainable option

Wth guest presenter, Elaine Buxton

Elaine is a long standing member and volunteer with Prepare for Change.  She is also a researcher and writer for PFC and has her own Substack account.  Saturday's talk will cover some of the articles she has produced from her research.

___

For the past 2 to 3 years, we have been referring to negative events as a "transition". We, the enlightened ones, are living in a dualistic, metaphysical matrix.  The ways of 3D materialistic living are no longer sustainable, and we aspire to a higher vibrational level of existence.  Many people call this ascending to 5D.  Instead of passively complying with the technocrats plan for Agenda 21/30 and the end of biological humanity, we MUST create a vision for a newer, better way of self-governance. Our political, economic, and social infrastructures are crumbling, set on fire by homicidal, narcissistic oligarchs with Satanic, demonic ideology.  They have been planning a Great Reset for over a century and 2023 is the first year of their New World Order according to the World Economic Forum It meets all the criteria for a revolution. We are in an existential crisis, and just like Russia, Western civilization must fight for its survival.  Democracy has been taken over by a corrupt mob who hunger for totalitarian control of the planet.  Instead of passively transitioning to technocracy controlled by AI, I propose creating an alternate ideology and political philosophy on Weekend Awakenings.  It is the next urgently needed step in preparing for change.  W...

A History of the World According to Getty Images Challenges the Power Structures Inherent in the Capture and Control of Footage "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

When a creative materials copyright lapses, it enters the public domain, which means it is no longer subject to trademarks, patents, or intellectual property rights. No individual, company, author, or artist owns it, and it belongs to the public. If this is the case, why is some public domain footage so expensive? This is the question at the core of Richard Miseks short film A History of the World According to Getting Images in which he explores how historically significant footage from newsreels, government agencies, and pioneers of film are held captive behind paywalls.

Beyond the history contained within the images, Misek examines footage itself and what happens after its captured. He focuses on Getty Images, the worlds largest commercial archive, challenging its control over public footage, which it only makes available through steep licensing fees. In the case of The Miles Brothers iconic short film A Trip Down Market Street, which captures downtown San Francisco just days before the devastating 1906 earthquake, the film was digitized in 2016 by the Prelinger Archive and made available for free, while Getty charges hundreds or thousands of dollars for the rights to use the footage, depending on its intended use.

A clip of a historic film reel made by the Miles Brothers called

Misek parses the unequal power dynamics inherent within capturing life and major events, in addition to the barriers to accessing that footage today. Newsreel cameras document power, but what strikes me most from my exploration of the Getty Archive, is how much the act of filming itself is an expression of power, Misek narrates. He points out that footage shot by the government, like the first...

Debate over whether video games rot kids brains wont be settled by this retraction "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

via Flickr

The global sigh of relief was almost audible when a study last year found kids who played video games for hours every day had no worse mental health than non-gamers. In fact, they came out ahead on some cognitive measures.

Video Games May Not Rot Kids Brains After All, one of the many news stories about the research trumpeted. Another headline declared: Video games could improve kids brains.

Now it turns out the study, titled Association of Video Gaming With Cognitive Performance Among Children, was so flawed it had to be retracted and republished. The updated results show gamers did actually score significantly worse on things like attention and depression, although some of their performance metrics were still slightly better than among non-gamers.

According to the republished article in JAMA Network Open:

Video gaming may be associated with small but improved cognitive abilities involving response inhibition and working memory and with alterations in underlying cortical pathways, but concerns about the association with mental health may warrant further study.

The study made headlines across the globe, but has been cited just twice, according to Clarivates Web of Science.

Studies about the effects of video games are often contentious, as weve...

I won free full body massages for life, which basically just translates to 2 massages a week. It was really good. I got addicted. I knew everyone who worked there and I got to experiment with all of them to see which were the best.

Ended up fluctuating between 3 different staff towards the end. They would even train new staff on me for free because I spent so much time over there. Those training massages never cost me anything either or counted towards my 2 free massage a week limit.

When the place closed down I realized just how expensive massages were I havent had one in ages and I miss it so bad.

This happened in the late 90s. A local bar ran a wet t-shirt contest where the girl who won would win a lifetime of free bar drinks at the bar. They also had cash prizes for 2nd and 3rd place. I dont remember how much, but it was a lot at the time.

The result was a packed bar, tons of girls entered, tons of guys spending money. My friends girlfriend at the time now his wife won first place. She was stoked. He was excited. Within a couple of weeks, the building was condemned and tore down a few weeks after being that.

Turns out the owners of the bar knew that the building was going to be condemned and just wanted to have one last party.

The Discord Leaks: Justification to Quash Encrypted Messaging? "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

On April 13, the FBI took 21-year-old Air National Guardsman Jake Teixiera into custody for posting top secret military documents on a private Discord chat group. A large amount of classified information has been exposed, and people want answers. Why is this young man getting arrested when other people leak to the press all the time? Who gives a 21-year-old top-secret clearance? Are there some other, less-obvious motives at work here?

First, lets look at the leaks.

Lets look first at the leaks themselves. In early March, classified documents started popping up on a public Discord channel. They had originally been posted in a private, invitation-only chat group on Discord with a few dozen members in December 2022 or January 2023. At some point, one of the private group members started posting the classified documents to a public group. And once on the public group, the classified documents rapidly made their way around the internet. (source)

  • This series of leaks provided evidence that American intelligence had been spying on allies in Israel and South Korea. (source)
  • We had also been collecting intelligence on United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres (source)
  • There was a discussion of Egypt producing weapons for Russia, despite receiving over $1 billion per year from the Americans. (source) Egyptian and American officials both denied this vehemently.
  • Some of the leaked documents included information about a spring offensive in Ukraine. They also indicated that American leaders are not confident in Ukraines ability to successfully launch an offensive this spring, due to a lack of trained personnel. (source)
  • Nonetheless, despite a grim outlook for a Ukrainian spring offensive, no one is anticipating peace talks between Kyiv and the Kremlin in 2023. (source) The powers that be are prepared for 2023 to consist of a long, slow grind for Ukrainian and Russian troops.
  • Leaked information also includes the fact that American Special F...

Its fair to say the trip on this driving simulator didnt go entirely to plan "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Back in the day there was no substitute for simply getting into the drivers seat, doing your checks, and hitting the road for the first time.

Nowadays driving simulations come a little bit closer to replicating the real thing without it actually being, you know, the real thing.

And thank goodness for that, if this particular simulated trip is anything to go by. Its fair to say it didnt go entirely to plan and its an (unintentionally) very funny ride.

One of the most important things my driving instructor told me was that every time you pass a bus in a bus stop, you should expect that pedestrians will walk out from behind it (just like here).

They cant see you and you cant see them, but they want to get to the other side quickly and dont think much about it. It was such a useful thing to learn before learning it the hard way!

Succession Star Brian Cox Tells the Entire Histories of Ancient Greece and Rome in 20 Minutes Each "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Spoiler alert: The death of Logan Roy the weekend before last marked the end of an era. Or at the very least, it was notable for occasioning, in the Los Angeles Times, perhaps the first newspaper obituary of a fictional character. Roy was the mogul-patriarch at the center of the hit black comedy-drama Succession, which is now approaching the end of its fourth and final season on HBO. Brian Coxs performance in that role had much to do with the success of Succession, so to speak, not least because he clearly understood that, for all its of-the-moment references, the series narrative is deeply rooted in concepts like dynasty and empire, which themselves extend way back to antiquity.

Antiquity happens to be the subject of two videos Cox narrated, just before the premiere of Succession, for the Youtube channel Arzamas. Ancient Greece in 18 Minutes and Ancient Rome in 20 Minutes deliver just what their titles promise, brief but clear and well-informed primers on the classical civilizations that modern Westerners have long thought of as the precursors to their own.

Cannabis Dispensary Closes to Observe 4/20 "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

DENVER Local dispensary Cloudbuster Cannabis Club announced they will be closed all day today in observance of 4/20, red-eyed sources report.

I believe 4/20 is one of the most important days of the year, and in that spirit, Im giving all of my employees a 24-hour smoke break to listen to Dopesmoker in their bedrooms, manager Shane Westcott said while assembling celebratory goody bags for his staff. Im sure people will get heated about this but its their own fault for not taking care of their holiday shopping sooner. Its not like anyone here would have been willing to work the afternoon shift anyway, let alone do so in a state where they can provide decent customer service.

Unaware of the closure, longtime customer Brooklyn Moore was enraged to see the empty shop this morning while attempting to purchase cannabis products for todays festivities.

Just because I want the day off to celebrate doesnt mean I support essential businesses doing the same, Moore said outside the dispensarys darkened storefront. Now Ill have to walk all the way across the street to another shop that doesnt offer nearly as many strains. I just hope nobody else gets inspired to give their workers the day off next year. If King Soopers can stay open on Thanksgiving, I dont want to see any more dispensaries closing their doors on 4/20.

Drug policy expert Logan Decker criticized the closure as a hypocritical slap in the face to those unable to access marijuana or paid time off.

We can talk about making 4/20 a government-recognized holiday when weed is legal nationwide, Decker said after failing to get PTO at his university teaching position. Hell, even if that happens, 4/20 should be a day where people get a little blazed at work. At least thats what I tell myself when I light up in the mens room during my lunch break because CU Boulder wouldnt give me the day off. This is off the record, right?

Not to be outdone, the Colorado State Penitentiary will also celebrate 4/20 by offering all inmates with marijuana charges a 20% discount on select commissary items.

As Your Mayor, I Cant Wait To Use Our New Marijuana Sales Tax Revenue To Give More Money to Cops "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Greetings, citizens! As our great state takes the bold step of legalizing marijuana this year, I am thrilled to announce that this city will be allowing the retail sale of cannabis. And with that comes a nice chunk of tax revenue. But dont worry, were going to use that money well. Mostly to increase our police force, making sure we torpedo any hard-fought gains for our communities that have been disproportionately harmed by marijuana arrests.

Look, our cops have been pretty busy these past few years. At one point, it seemed like maybe they were going to have to cut back on their murdering. But fortunately, that wasnt the case, and now were gonna need to expand the force some more.

Now, you might try to tell me that the taxes we collect from our legal cannabis establishments should be used for other town needs like the library, the schools, or maybe even the pothole-riddled roads. Everyone wants good roads, right? Not having your tires blow out every time you try to go to the grocery store should be apolitical.

All of those are fine ideas. But not as important as giving more money to our police officers. Just imagine how many arrests they can make with more funding, especially now that they have to plant drugs on people that are more expensive than weed.

Theyre gonna have to get creative. Maybe theyll use that sweet tax money to pad out the yearly civil rights lawsuit defense budget. However they use the money, the point is cannabis legalization is a HUGE step for our fine city. Its a chance to change the narrative. To empower our communities. And, above all, to make sure our police officers can buy whatever cool new murder toys they want.

Cool Smoke Shop Doesnt Card If Youre Wearing an Electric Wizard Shirt "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

AUSTIN Self-described cool smoke shop Throne Room Tobacco will not require photo ID for customers who are wearing Electric Wizard shirts, bearded sources report.

Most Electric Wizard fans are well in to their 40s by now, so this policy is the perfect way for us to improve the shops reputation without landing in hot water, Throne Room manager Chuck Greene said as he restocked Delta 8 gummies. Everyone hates being perceived, especially people who just want to get their glass products and blast Funeralopolis in their bedrooms. Its not right to make those folks show ID. Also, doom metal merch is practically the uniform at the board game shop next door, so this is a great way for us to make new friends.

Longtime Throne Room customer Scott Freese wasnt aware of this policy when he mistakenly wore merchandise from other bands to pick up his smokes.

I thought this was a pretty cool establishment because the staff always complimented my Electric Wizard tee, but today I wore a different shirt and everyone treated me like a total stranger, Freese said after reluctantly fishing his license out of his pocket to show a cashier. They even scanned my ID to double check that it was real because they didnt trust the old photo of me from before I grew out my beard. Mind you, Im wearing a Weedeater shirt and a matching beanie right now. A really cool smoke shop would respect that instead of asking invasive questions about my home address.

Tobacco expert Cliff Sowards suggested the shop take additional measures to improve its coolness.

If Throne Room really wants to be an ultra-hip smoke shop, they should stop carding altogether, Sowards said loudly over a sludge riff. At the very least, they need to extend their Electric Wizard exception to include other strains of metal, for the safety and anonymity of their clientele. Under the current policy, people could get busted just for having Electric Wizard shirts in their closets. Training employees to recognize more bands and logos remedies that problem while improving the shops reputation among loyal customers.

In other news, the local Hot Topic now requires photo ID to purchase Electric Wizard merchandise.

Word-thought for the day: replacing risk with chance "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Risk and chance: which word is less likely to evoke a stress response?

Almost any time we use the word risk in relation to childbirth, we could choose to use the word chance instead. The meaning stays the same but it is no longer cloaked in fear. Sara Wickham.

This is one of my favourite things to say and share.

I originally posted something on this a few years ago after talking to midwives and medical students about statistics and the language that we use when we talk to women about evidence and decision-making.

I am concerned that, whether by accident or design, the language that is used tends to over-emphasise the potential downsides of certain courses of action (or inaction) in ways that range from unhelpful to downright misleading.

I could say lots more about this, and have discussed it in almost every book that I have written.

But today I want to focus on just the one word: risk.

Because almost any time we use the word risk in relation to childbirth, we could choose to use the word chance instead.  The meaning stays the same but it is no longer cloaked in fear.

We also need different ways of saying low risk and high risk. Those are also inaccurate and misleading terms, and Ive written more on this in several of my books as well.

Everyday Products That Have Surprisingly Useful Secondary Uses "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Our houses are filled with products. Some of the we think well use every day and others we actually do use every day, but either way, wouldnt it be amazing if we could get even more bang for our buck?

These folks say youve definitely got a few things hanging out that you should be using in more ways than one and heres what and how!

The sticky stuff.

Any kind of cooking oil will easily get pine sap off of your hands. Just use it like soap.

Its cheap, too.

Use salt as an abrasive and absorber when cleaning. I spray my stove top with a general household cleaner then sprinkle salt liberally over the top. It gets grease out easily.

For liquid stains like wine, I pour salt over the stain to soak up excess liquid then come through with hydrogen peroxide. Finally I get absorbent towels and dab clean it.

If youve got kids, you know.

Any cooking oil is a great way to remove the residue from stickers.

Idk if this is recommended but if you get scratches on wood furniture Ive always taken a matching washable marker, colored over the scratch, and then wiped it with a damp cloth (to effectively stain the wood back to match).

Dish soap is so handy.

Scuba diver here. Instead of using those expensive defogger gels and sprays on your mask, smear a bunch of dish soap in it, rinse once or twice, and your mask will never fog during the dive.

You can also use this method to keep your windshield from fogging. Smear a bunch of dish soap on a towel, then rub it all over the inside of your windshield. Take another damp towel and rub the soap off until your wind sh...

Junk Food Brainwashes You so Youre Wired to Eat More "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

If you're like most people, you're consuming an unhealthy amount of sugar on a regular basis. Even if you don't consistently eat junk food, candy or sweetened beverages, most processed foods contain an excessive amount of added sugar.

The BBC documentary1 The Truth About Sugar, revealed one serving of Pad Thai noodles has nearly 9.5 teaspoons of sugar; a package of sweet and sour chicken with rice has 12.5 teaspoons; and a serving of dry bran flakes, a breakfast that many think is a healthier choice, has 3 teaspoons.

It is crucial to understand that it's not just cakes, candies, cookies and sweets that get people into trouble with sugar. Unfortunately, even many baby foods2 and formulas3 contain a shocking amount of sugar that can set your child along a lifelong path of sugar addiction and health problems.

One 2020 study4 examined samples of infant formula available in 11 countries and found most were higher in carbohydrates, sugar and lactose than breast milk and many contain more sugar than a glass of soda. In an article in The Conversation, one of the researchers wrote:5

Some formula milks have double the sugar per serving than a glass of soda. But perhaps more shocking is the fact that there are so few regulations in place to control sugar content and to make sure consumers are well informed.

As you consider the data from studies in the past decade, it's easy to understand why child health advocates are strong promoters of breastfeeding and are fighting to provide healthier infant nutritional alternatives to mothers who do not breastfeed.

High-Fat, High-Sugar Junk Food Changes Your Brain

The featured study6 published in Cell Metabolism was performed by researchers at the Max Planck Institute for Metabolism Research in Cologne, Germany, in collaboration with a team of scientists from Yale University.7 The researchers sought to understand the underlying mechanism between eating foods high in fat and sugar and the associated risk of obesity and altered brain dopamine function.8

The researchers questioned whether the brain alterations were preexisting, and thus increased a person's susceptibility to weight gain because they were more apt to eat foods that were high in fat and sugar, or if the bra...

Glycine to Increase Longevity and Decrease Depression "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Glycine, a nonessential amino acid, meaning your body can make it, but most of us as we age are simply unable to make enough of it, especially if our dietary intake is low because we are not eating enough connective tissue and collagen in our diet.

New research is emerging showing glycine is a powerful longevity enhancer, one that's not only inexpensive but also has a pleasant, slightly sweet flavor. In fact, glycine is sometimes used as a sugar substitute, and I personally take 1 teaspoon with each of my two meals and before bedtime for its health-enhancing qualities.

Research shows glycine extends lifespan in worms, mice and rats while improving health in models of age-related disease.1 If there were any doubt about its importance, consider that collagen the most abundant protein in your body2 is made mostly of glycine. It's also a precursor to glutathione, a powerful antioxidant that declines with age.

As noted by Siim Land, author of "Metabolic Autophagy," in the video above,3 however, there are two glycine benefits that appear key to its actions as a veritable fountain of youth inducing autophagy and mimicking the longevity benefits of methionine restriction.4

How Glycine May Influence Aging

Glycine is a receptor for the enzyme glycine N-methyltransferase (GNMT), which plays a role in methionine clearance, according to a review published in Ageing Research Reviews.5 Glycine is the acceptor for GNMT, an enzyme responsible for methionine clearance. GNMT converts glycine to sarcosine, "an autophagy-inducing metabolite."6

Further, in mice deficient in GNMT, levels of free methionine may be seven-fold higher, while S-adenosyl-L-methionine may increase by 35-fold.7 This matters, as methionine is involved in cancer cell growth and metabolism, while methionine restriction inhibits cancer cell growth.8

Methionine restriction has been shown to improve longevity, extending lifespan in mice while lowering levels of insulin, glucose and insulin-like growth factor 1. Lim...

'Dirt Rich' Importance of Biochar and Regenerative Systems "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Editors Note: This article is a reprint. It was originally published October 6, 2018.

Its easy to forget that at one point, not so long ago, all food was organically grown in a way that supported the ecosystem and environment. This abruptly changed in the 1940s when the Green Revolution took hold and industrial, chemical-dependent farming techniques quickly spread to become the norm.

Organic farming sustained mankind for millennia. Industrial farming, on the other hand, has created a series of unsustainable situations in less than 70 years, and evidence suggests we may not make it until the end of the century if we continue along this path.

The good news is that there are answers, and that a growing section of our farming communities are starting to heed the warning signs. Consumers are also becoming increasingly aware of the problems associated with industrial farming and are demanding higher quality, more nutritious foods grown in a way that supports rather than strips the environment of its resources.

The featured documentary, Dirt Rich, looks at these issues from the ground up, focusing on how we can improve soil quality specifically by adding more carbon back into the soil and preventing carbon losses. Its now become clear that by doing that, we can turn many of todays most pressing problems around.

Industrial Farming Has Led Us Down a Dangerous Path

Topsoil destruction, erosion and desertification are all exacerbated by industrial practices such as tilling, chemical use, monocropping and not using cover crops. Maria-Helena Semedo of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations has warned that at the current rate of topsoil degradation, all the worlds topsoil will be gone in less than 60 years.1

At that point, itll be game over because without topsoil you cannot grow food no matter how many chemicals you add. Closely related problems are the loss of soil fertility and biodiversity, which is directly related to the loss of natural carbon in the soil.

An estimated 80% of soil carbon in heavily farmed areas has already been lost2 due to destructive plowing, overgrazing and the use of carbon-depleting chemical fertilizers and pesticides. These practices, along with poor water management approaches, also contribute to climate change.3

Overall, the importance of carbon sequestration simply cannot be overstated. Not only will it reduce the carbon dioxide (CO2) load in the atmosphere, but once sequestered in the soil, the carbon actively nourishes...

New 2023 Documentary Premiere: COVIDISM Contagious Deception "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

by Brian Shilhavy
Editor, Health Impact News

Health Impact News has just published the premiere of the 2023 documentary film, Covidism: Contagious Deception.

Covidism: Contagious Deception is the most comprehensive documentary on COVID-19 I have had the pleasure to watch, as it thoroughly analyzes both the scientific and political aspects of the COVID-19 mass deception launched in 2020.

The documentary was written and produced by a Health Impact News subscriber, Bonum Vincit (pseudonym), a Bulgarian independent film producer who would like to remain anonymous.

This is an amazing film that features interviews and footage of many of the leading dissenting scientists and doctors who tried to warn the public as this mass deception unfolded. These voices were censored from the corporate media and the major social media sites.

We have published this film in four parts.

Part 1 carefully examines how authorities worldwide have been gaming the numbers regarding cases, hospitalizations and deaths from the alleged coronavirus. Part 1 also explains how health officials actively suppressed safe and effective treatments for Covid-19, while employing deadly protocols for hospital patients.

Part 2 focuses on the fascinating timeline of events, which led to the global Covid-19 response, and investigates whether or not the science on the lethality and infectivity of Sars-Cov-2 justified countermeasures such as lockdowns and mask-wearing.

Part 3 is a deep dive into the topic of Covid-19 vaccines, detailing the plethora of scientific evidence for their unsafe and ineffective nature, while exposing the deceptive tactics of manipulating the statistics.

Part 4 puts all the pieces of the puzzle together, exposing the premeditated sinister political motivations behind the global Covid-19 response, and how it is intricately tied to a much larger agenda The Great Reset.

The film producer is not accepting any donations for this amazing work, and he wants everyone to freely copy and distribute the film.

If you appreciate his work, please let him know. You can reach him at this email address: covid19_documentary@proton.me

This work was a labor of love, and he began it back in 2020, which means it took him almost 3 years to produce this film.

AR15 hit piece fail. "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

I'm not saying the AR15 is the alpha and the omega of guns. The best survival gun depends on your location. If semiautos are banned where you are that kind of puts a damper on things. The best game getting guns are likely a 22lr, a shotgun or big bolt action rifle depending on where you are.
But there's a reason why the government uses them, politicians want to take them and mom's looking for action want to ban them. Plus after it hits the fan there's going to be a lot of them laying about....

5 Economic Disasters We Were Warned About In Advance That Are Happening Right Now "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

This article was originally published by Michael Snyder at The Economic Collapse Blog.

Our leaders were able to successfully kick the can down the road for a long time, but now many of our long-term problems are becoming short-term problems, and the economic outlook for the remainder of 2023 is extremely bleak.  But none of the economic hardships that we are experiencing at this moment should shock any of us.

The truth is that we were warned about all of these things well ahead of time.  Many independent voices have been warning us that there would be severe consequences for the exceedingly foolish economic decisions that our leaders were making, and now those severe consequences are starting to play out right in front of our eyes.  The following are 5 economic disasters we were warned about in advance that are happening right now

#1 We were warned that a great commercial real estate crisis would be coming, and now it is here.  In fact, we just witnessed another massive default

With recent stress in the regional banking sector, sentiment in US commercial real estate (CRE) and especially the office sector has turned negative as investors prepare for potential spillover effects (with JPMMorgan Stanley, and Goldman Sachs all joining the gloom parade), especially as high-profile defaults continue to make headlines as borrowers face higher debt service costs and refinancing becomes much harder ahead of a $400 billion CRE debt maturities this year alone.

The latest headline fueling concerns about a potential CRE crisis involves a fund belonging to CRE giant Brookfield defaulting on a $161.4 million mortgage for twelve office buildings in Washington, DC.

According to Bloomberg, the loan was transferred to a special servicer working with the borrower to execute....
