Fachbegriff der Woche: Greedflation.Albert Edwards, ... "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Fachbegriff der Woche: Greedflation.

Albert Edwards, a global strategist at the 159-year-old bank Socit Gnrale, just released a blistering note on the phenomenon that has come to be called Greedflation. Corporations, particularly in developed economies like the U.S. and U.K., have used rising raw material costs amid the pandemic and the war in Ukraine as an excuse to raise prices and expand profit margins to new heights
Ach. Ach was.

The end of Greedflation must surely come. Otherwise, we may be looking at the end of capitalism, he warned. This is a big issue for policymakers that simply cannot be ignored any longer.

Also doch, spielt eine Rolle.

Ruling Class Says US is Open To Sending Troops To Taiwan "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

United States ruler, Senator Lindsay Graham said that the government is open to sending troops to Taiwan to ignite a war with China. Graham declared that he would send other people to fight for the island because its a democracy.

Speaking to Fox News on Sunday, Graham claimed that the U.S. policy of strategic ambiguity on Taiwan (under which Washington recognizes, but does not endorse, Chinas sovereignty over the island) is not working, and should be replaced with a formal defense agreement. In other words, Graham wants a war with China and this just might be the way to get it.

So the question for the Congress, should we have a defense agreement with the island of Taiwan? he asked. Id be very much open to using U.S. forces to defend Taiwan because its in our national security interest to do so. I believe in a One China policy, but I would be willing to fight for Taiwan because Taiwan is a democracy, he continued, later adding that the U.S. has an economic incentive to fight China over the island. 90% of the high-end chips are made in Taiwan, he said. [China] would have a monopoly on the digital economy.

According to a report by RT, Graham additionally said that he would support the sale of U.S.-made fighter jets to Taipei, and would back the movement of war forces to South Korea and Japan.

There are currently several dozen U.S. troops stationed in Taiwan, and the Wall Street Journal reported in February that Washington plans to increase this number to between 100 and 200.

Grahams position on Taiwan is hawkish but in line with that of a growing number of both Democrats and Republicans. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy met with Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen in California on Wednesday. Meanwhile, during a visit to Taipei on Friday, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul told Fox News that Congress would authorize military action against China in the event of an invasion of Taiwan. RT

The U.S. ruling class continues to up the ante with war rhetoric like they desperately want to send people off to kill and be killed for them. Graham is a longtime advocate of military intervention, war, and regime change. Last year, he called for the assassination of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Is Another Jesus Revolution Upon Us? | Greg Laurie | The Glenn Beck Podcast | Ep 180 "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

We need a spiritual awakening in America so bad right now, Pastor Greg Laurie tells Glenn on this Easter weekend episode of The Glenn Beck Podcast. Our society has abandoned God and embraced sin but hes seen this before. Back in the 1960s and 70s, Greg was a part of possibly the biggest Christian movement in American history, now dubbed the Jesus Revolution, when hippies gave up their LSD and embraced Jesus Christ. Its now at the heart of the recent film The Jesus Revolution, featuring Kelsey Grammer and Jonathan Roumie, who plays Jesus in The Chosen. Greg tells Glenn just how similar todays America is to the era of the Jesus Revolution and why he believes we might be poised to see another spiritual awakening very soon. He and Glenn also discuss the importance of family and parenthood, especially given everything children struggle with today. And he reveals some of the events only God could have orchestrated that led to the filming of Jesus Revolution, including the true and tragic story of Lonnie Frisbee. But, as Greg tells Glenn, its often the greatest tragedies that bring total redemption.

Crazy and RABID: This RADICAL Trans Mob Just Attacked Swimmer Riley Gaines | Glenn TV | Ep 267 "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Riley Gaines, a swimmer and outspoken opponent of men in womens sports, was recently ambushed by pro-trans activists and forced to flee a speech in California. But this, Glenn explains, is just the latest example of a disturbing trend within the transgender community, which he argues is fueled by the media. However, the insanity doesnt stop there. National Security Council spokesman John Kirby was pressed on the Biden administrations disastrous actions in the Afghanistan withdrawal, and his defensive statements left Glenn speechless. And Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen appeared to say the quiet part out loud regarding the Inflation Reduction Act.

Pour Too Much Coffee in This Mug and It Will Start Crying

Crying Mug

Wask | $35.01

Do you have a tendency of drinking too much coffee? Well, there's a mug that will let you know when enough is enough. Overflow the Flooded With Emotions Mug and the extra brew will leak from its two round eyes, making it look like the cup is crying.

Designed by Wask, this funny mug features a minimalist design with a smiley face and two perforated eyeholes by the brim. When you keep the coffee below a certain level, the mug remains happy-looking. But pour a little too much joe in the cup and the coffee will trickle out of the eyes like tears. It will surely make any coffee lover laugh.

Due to the nature of this mug, you'll want to make sure you're cautious about touching the hot liquid. In addition to making sure the coffee doesn't overflow, another important thing to keep in mind is which side you drink your coffee from. Pick the wrong side, and the mug will end up crying on you! So, to be safe, Wask recommends drinking from the back of the cup where there are no hopefully pop up in the next batch of sales.

You can find the Flooded With Emotions Mug in the Wask store for CA$35.01 (about US$25.90).

The Flooded With Emotions Mug has a lot of feelings.

Baby Tooth Biomarker Exhibits Abnormal Inflammatory Regulation in Autism Spectrum Disorder "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

New Study Shows Third Trimester as a Critical Period for Inflammatory Regulation

Previous research suggests that strong inflammatory states are associated with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Other investigations have proposed that inflammation could be linked to the etiology of many neurodegenerative diseases, including autism. Until now, determining when atypical inflammatory regulation begins has not been possible. However, a new study involving Dr. Manish Arora and other researchers may have found an approach to determine when this abnormal process begins. The authors presented a method that could generate approximately daily profiles of prenatal and early childhood inflammation as measured by developmentally archived C-reactive protein (CRP) in incremental layers of deciduous (i.e., baby) tooth dentin. CRP is one of the most commonly studied biomarkers of inflammation. The protein has also been implicated in the development of ASD. Using a group of Swedish twins as research subjects, the authors found heightened inflammation CRP markers in tooth dentin in the third trimester of children with future ASD diagnosis relative to controls (n = 66; 14 ASD cases; critical window: 90 to 50 days before birth). To confirm their finding, the authors ran a replication study in the United States and observed a similar increase in CRP in ASD cases during the third trimester (n = 47; 23 ASD cases; 128 to 21 days before birth). The authors believe their findings indicate that the third trimester is critical for atypical fetal inflammatory regulation in ASD, especially for male fetuses. They also suggest that, unlike prior studies, their study shows that the prenatal inflammatory signal comes from the fetal rather than the maternal environment.

Higher Levels of Lithium in Drinking Water Linked to Cases of Autism "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Investigation Finds Maternal Prenatal Exposure Is Associated with a 23% Increase Risk of ASD in Offspring

According to a new population-based, case-control study from Denmark, pregnant women whose household tap water had higher levels of lithium experienced a moderately higher risk of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in their offspring. The authors believe their research is the first to identify naturally occurring lithium in drinking water as a possible environmental risk factor for autism. The current study included 8842 children born from 2000 through 2013 that received an ASD diagnosis, along with 43,864 control participants matched by birth-year and sex from the Danish Medical Birth Registry. The authors then geocoded all maternal residential addresses in the Danish Civil Registration System from 9 months before until 9 months after pregnancy. The studys design also controlled for maternal characteristics, some socioeconomic factors, and air pollution exposures. The studys key finding demonstrated that as lithium levels in drinking water increased, so did the risk of autism diagnosis in pregnant womens offspring.  The authors also discovered the association between lithium levels and autism risk was slightly more substantial for families living in urban areas compared to smaller towns and rural areas. Denmarks consumption of bottled water is among the lowest in Europe. Interestingly, lithium concentrations in Danish drinking water (range 0.6-30.7 g/L) were similar to those reported in U.S. drinking water. One of the studys author, David Bellinger PhD, MSc, of Boston Childrens Hospital and Harvard Medical School, pointed out that lithium levels are likely to increase worldwide due to mining to produce lithium-ion batteries for the growing number of electric vehicles. Due to the production of these batteries, excess lithium will  eventually enter the waste stream and could contribute to lithium contamination of water supplies that could increase the risk of autism in the future.

Drawing inspiration from the systems and networks that connect us to one another, the world around us, and realms we cant even see, Dustin Yellin (previously) encases detailed narratives between numerous layers of glass. At the Liberty Science Center in New York City, Yellins 10,000-pound The Politics of Liberty explores historical timepast, present, and futureas part of the centers 30th anniversary Big Art program.

As the founder and director of Pioneer Works, a multidisciplinary center with a mission to build community through the arts and sciences, Yellin is no stranger to exploring ways that art can educate and communicate about important topics. Using paint and clippings from print media, the Brooklyn-based artist creates elaborate, allegorical scenes that tap into viewers emotions and consciousness and encourage new ways of thinking about society and its infrastructures. Yellin embraces interdisciplinary approaches and says the Big Art initiative demonstrates the fundamental belief in the ability of ideas to exist fluidly across different domains, inviting us to consider the different ways in which an understanding of our universe can be expressed and to feel the expanses of our minds.

Health Canada issues advisory for face masks containing graphene "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Health Canada has issued an advisory and asked distributors to recall masks sold with graphene or biographene in them over potential inhalation risks. Graphene is comprised of a single layer of carbon atoms and is considered a nanomaterial, meaning it is made of tiny particles, and is reported to have antiviral and antibacterial properties, the advisory says. Health Canada said it conducted a preliminary scientific assessment after becoming aware that masks containing graphene were being sold with COVID-19 health claims and used by adults and children in schools and daycares. Health Canada also believes they may have been distributed for use in health care settings. The products affected are listed as face masks labelled as containing graphene or biomass graphene, the advisory states. Health Canada recommends that Canadians not use masks with the substance and to consult their health-care provider if they have used graphene face masks and have health concerns - such as new or unexplained shortness of breath, discomfort or difficulty breathing. The specific mask model under review, #SNN200642, is the same model for which Health Canada received a complaint from a concerned citizen raising a question about the potential health risks. The organization said that their preliminary assessment of available research found that inhaled graphene particles had some potential to cause early lung toxicity in rats and other animals, but that the potential for people to inhale graphene particles and the related health risks are not yet known, and may vary with based on mask design. The health risk to people of any age is not clear, the advisory says, as there are many variables such as duration of exposure and...

Good Friday: Violence and Trigger Warnings "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Essendon Baptist Community Church 2023

Theme: Once for All

Readings: Matthew 27:27-34 and Isaiah 53:4-6

Reflection / Intro. to Prayer of Confession:

Good Friday should come with a trigger warning  graphic violence and torture.

You make it part of your Easter to come to church with your family. You hear the bible read and like the co-opted bystander in the story, Simon from Cyrene, the violence is thrust upon you like a cross, in your face, and with weight! And the trauma counsellors are right when they say The body keeps the score.

Have you ever chosen the wrong movie for the kids.  You thought it was good, and it ended up being too violent and as you turn it off or over you think. Why? Couldnt the creator have done it another way?

William Temple once mentioned people who reject faith saying I cant believe because if God looked at the world and its violence and suffering his heart would break.  He replied that Christians point to the cross and say It did break.

In a violent world of real pain, could you really worship a God who is immune?

The cross shows us God is not the cause of violence, but endures it. Whose desire was, and is, and will always be to be with us. Whos vulnerability in being open to violence means they are also open to the possibility of a loving relationship with creation, you and me. A power dynamic sadly reflected to us in the tragic epidemic of what we describe in our society as (Good Friday trigger warning) intimate partner violence.

Processing their own trauma of what they went through, witnessing what happened to Jesus at this event, his followers looked back to the Hebrew Bible and the prophet Isaiah we heard read who said by his stripes we are healed. But how?

Im about to watch a movie with images of this cross carrying passage weve heard read that leads us into a prayer of confession in video form called The Weight of Sin created by Travis Reed from The Work of the People, created to be song Hurt.

Were only doing the instrumental in church today, not the lyrics of the song, to minimise the trauma triggers.  Its a song Trent Reznor wrote in a time of deep depress...

Personal Restoration Renovation and Conservation: On Perspective "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Personal Restoration Renovation and Conservation: On Perspective

For more than a decade we have been taking our family to Southern Utah for Spring Break.

This year was no exception.

But I knew this year would be different.bittersweet.

You see, this year my oldest is a senior in high school which meant this would be his last spring break with us.so I wanted this year to be extra special.

As this vacation was approaching we talked about all the things we wanted to do on this last family spring breakmy sons favorite hikes, spots to visit, and places to eat. We knew exactly what we wanted to dowe have been to this same location dozens of timesand our plan was flawless.

Mix this planned trip down memory lane with the fact that the weather in Southern Utah is usually sunny and beautiful this time of year (unlike the blanket of snow and grey skies we were under at home) and you have a recipe for the perfect spring break. Unfortunately, sometimes recipes arent followed

We arrived at our destination Sunday night, settled in, and woke up Monday morning to cloudy skies, low temperatures and wind. So we grabbed our jackets and set out for our first hike. By the time we arrived at the trail it was snowing and the wind was blowing. We passed people in the parking lot hustling back to their cars. But this is our favorite hike.this was our planand so we set off.

And FROZE!

Brace Yourselves For An Economic Avalanche, Because A Major Credit Crunch Has Already Begun "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

This article was originally published by Michael Snyder at The Economic Collapse Blog.

This is moving even faster than a lot of us thought that it would.  For weeks, I have been warning my readers about the coming credit crunch.  When banks get into trouble, they start getting really tight with their money.

That means fewer mortgages, fewer commercial real estate loans, fewer auto loans, and fewer credit cards being issued.  But I thought that it would take some time for the credit crunch to fully kick into high gear.  Unfortunately, I was wrong about that.  In fact, it is being reported that during the last two weeks of March bank lending in the United States contracted by the most on record

US bank lending contracted by the most on record in the last two weeks of March, indicating a tightening of credit conditions in the wake of several high-profile bank collapses that risks damaging the economy.

In other words, we have never seen bank lending shrink faster than it did during the second half of March.

Wow.

And it turns out that small banks are getting particularly tight with their money

Commercial bank lending dropped nearly $105 billion in the two weeks ended March 29, the most in Federal Reserve data back to 1973. The more than $45 billion decrease in the latest week was primarily due to a a drop in loans by small banks.

The pullback in total lending in the last half of March was broad and included fewer real estate loans, as well as commercial and industrial loans.

As I have noted previously, small and mid-size banks provide the bulk of commercial real estate loans in this country.

We are already starting to see prices for commercial real estate plunge, and now Morgan Stanley is warning that the drop that we will ultimately see could rival the decline during the 200...

Can Academia Give Bitcoin A Fair Shake? "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Members of academia are inherently biased against Bitcoin, but there are intelligent and curious members who could change that.

This is an opinion editorial by Hannah Wolfman-Jones, author of System Override: How Bitcoin, Blockchain, Free Speech, & Free Tech Can Change Everything and founder of We The Web.

Can academia fairly consider Bitcoin?

No. Or at least, not yet.

Academia has a huge and inherent bias against Bitcoin that it has yet to acknowledge. Academics particularly academic economists are the central planners who advise and run fiat monetary institutions. As such, they are often blind to the drawbacks of decentralization. Bitcoin not only threatens academic economists revolving door with fiat monetary institutions, but their egos and research too. As Ashley Hodgson, associate professor of economics at St. Olaf College and moderator of the HxEconomics Community at Heterodox Academy, explains in a draft chapter of an upcoming book:

To consider Bitcoin, one must change the question from, What would I do if I controlled the money supply? to Should anyone (including economists like me) be able to control the money supply? In this way, Bitcoin is potentially disempowering to the economist thinker Even for the thought experiment to limit the power and status of ones profession (academic economists) and ones peers is something that may have a negative taste for people who spent so many years and gave up so many other life opportunities to enter this profession.

Academics work hard in their early careers to publish and bring new ideas to bear The newest, freshest ideas can sometimes knock the old ideas aside, which is against the interests of the senior academics, whose own sense of identity rests on the importance and correctness of their ideas. As such, cunning new ideas and brilliant young academics pose a threat to more senior academics in their roles as thought leaders, particularly if the new ideas displace the prestige of the old Egos play a big role in the academic setting, particularly because we are essentially paid in prestige instead of money. Most economists could make more money by moving to industry. They stay in academia for the glory and influence (Junior economists) know that they are most likely to rise within their profession if their ideas and research topics support the existing paradigm, therefore not posing too...

What Happens When The Term Child-Free Gets Wildly Misapplied? "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

More and more people are choosing to be child-free these days, and no, getting older does not necessarily mean theyll change their mind.

Some people say they dont want kids from a young age and do change their minds later, but others live happy lives as not-parents forever.

This kid is only 16, but he says hes definitely child-free.

My brother (Brandon) is 16 and decided he is childfree.

Which basically just means he doesnt want to be around our 4 years old little cousin.

Which is fine, except he thinks that means hes allowed to act as if his 4yo cousin doesnt exist.

According to OP he flat-out ignores her and leaves the room if shes trying to talk to him, and finally OP had enough.

We have dinner at our grandparents every other weekend together with all our aunts/uncles and cousins. Brandon never liked our little cousin, and recently he decided that that means he doesnt have to talk to her or acknowledge her existence at all.

Brandon will 100% ignore her and if she keeps trying to talk to him, he will stand up and go to another room. The parents dont really care about it, they are usually busy with talking to each other and dont pay attention to us.

She called him out on the rude/mean behavior and tried to tell him that being child-free doesnt mean hes allowed to treat kids like crap.

Last weekend, Brandon was ignoring our little cousin once again. She was showing him her drawings, when he stood up and went away. She started crying and I went after Brandon to call him out on it.

He said he was childfree and he doesnt have to engage with children if he doesnt want to. He is not rude or mean to her, so he is not doing anything wrong. I told him he can...

The complexity of the world todaywith emergencies related to climate, health, migration, and moredemands that we bring together all the available tools and disciplines for reflection and action. How can knowledge be interwoven to expand our understanding of the world and broaden our imaginations, to look to the future on an international scale? Research-creation, or practice-based research, is a relatively recent field between theoretical and applied research associating experimental, exploratory, and critical approaches and practices while privileging sensorial experience. Through installations, dispositifs, and performances, new methodological tools are being created to access sources of shared knowledge and to explore contemporary transformations aesthetically.

How can we go beyond text in communicating these findings at the intersections of art, design, and science? The traditional methodologies and formats of journal articles are not always adapted to research that explores sensorial and singular forms.

"IndyWatch Feed Arts" "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Think of the names David Hockney, Jean Michel-Basquiat, Roy Lichtenstein, and Keith Haring, and one time period comes vividly to mind: the nineteen-eighties, the blast radius of whose explosion of shape, color, and motion encompassed everything from mainstream pop culture to the avant-garde. One could experience this through movies, clothes, paintings, graphic design, architecture, and even furniture. But did anyone really know the aesthetic of the eighties, in its full high-low span, who did not visit Luna Luna, the first and only modern-art amusement park?

Staged in the summer of 1987 in Hamburg, the largest city in then West Germany, Luna Luna was conceived by the Austrian artist Andr Heller. Inspired by the cultural memory of fairgrounds like Coney Islands Luna Park and its many imitators around the world, Heller made use of all his connections to solicit designs for attractions from the superstar artists of the day.

The CEI: Why Brands Risk Going Broke to Look Woke "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Author of What to Eat When Youre Broke and Bloom Where Youre Planted online course

If youre anything like me, you may have been utterly baffled by recent events in marketing. Companies like Gillette, Disney, Nike, Tampax, and Bud Light seem to have completely abandoned their core customer base and pandered to an entirely different demographic one thats unlikely to even need or want their products in the first place.

(Trust me when I tell you this is really important content. Lets see if I can write this article in a way that wont get me slapped with another round of defunding and deplatforming.)

Well, look no further for the answer.

Move over, ESG scores. Now big corporations are competing for super-high CEI scores. And to do it, many of them have to completely turn their backs on the loyal consumers whove been buying their products for years.

What is a CEI score?

Brought to us by a group of control-freaks-pretending-to-be-do-gooders who call themselves The Human Rights Campaign, CEI stands for Corporate Equality Index.

A quick note about the HRC: it IS, in fact, funded by George Soross Open Society Foundation as well as Disney. Not a conspiracy theory. You can see here where they thanked both companies for their support. And by support, Im pretty sure they dont mean that those folks getting a shout-out said, Way to go! Youre doing great, sweetie!

A company can receive up to 100 points in the CEI rating system. Heres how those points are earned.

Punk Band Suddenly Art Rock After Receiving First Trust Fund Payment "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. Sibling members of local DIY punk band Reserve recently changed their musical style and image after discovering they are the beneficiaries of a family trust, jealous sources confirmed.

Weve really matured lately, said vocalist, drummer, and eldest brother Anders Albrecht. Its pretty crazy to think that only days ago when we were poor, our music was so utterly unrefined, full of anger, and raw. This week weve started to explore longer songs, odd tempos, and multiple movements. Its just hard to convey real emotion in ninety seconds of angry, thrashing punk music. The real game-changer was quitting our jobs, which freed up tons of time for rehearsing and buying new gear. I think well build a home studio next. Truly amazing what a little financial stability can do for the evolution of the group.

Adam Pelagia, a longtime fan of the group, noted that the brothers have even begun to explore new venues to better suit their sudden change in style and direction.

Ive seen these guys play a million basements, but last week they did a house party way up in the hills. Good set, but the crowd was real stiff and I didnt see anyone else in Docs, Pelagia said while double-fisting a PBR and an American Spirit. Must have been a new spot, because no one had put stickers up in the bathrooms yet. Kind of got the vibe that everyone there not only started art school, but finished it, too. I was surprised the band finally ditched their duct-taped guitar straps and trash can cymbals, but the projector playing Requiem for a Dream really threw me. Plus, their bassist Skunk who is known to launch snot rockets mid-set actually pulled out a monogrammed silk handkerchief at one point.

Reserves newly-hired manager Rich Neebly believes the the bands evolution is positive..

They say money cant buy happiness, but it can definitely help you outbid other artists for a tour. Were officially doing six weeks in Europe this summer, followed by a month-long stay at Coco Chanels former hotel suite in Paris to start writing the next record. And to top it off, instead of selling lame t-shirts, were actually going to auction off NFTs during the show so the most committed fans can flex their one-of-one digital artwork in the metaverse. Nothing says real fan quite like a blockchain record of how much you paid for a .JPEG.

At press time, the group had left town to attend a thing on a boat and could not be reached for further comment.

Portrait of Paul Rudd in Attic Also Weirdly Young-Looking "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

RHINEBECK, N.Y. A portrait found in the attic of a well-appointed, upstate mansion owned by actor Paul Rudd hangs an eerie oil painting of the actor that also looks oddly ageless, jealous Hollywood sources confirmed.

He guards it most ferociously, said Enya Calhoun, Rudds housekeeper of the last two decades. First it was only a heavy lock, but later he barred the doors and windows with iron bars, and he keeps the key forever on his person. Ive offered to go in there to dust, but he always says hell do it. It kind of creeps me out.

Rudds wife, Julie Yaeger, confirmed that dire suspicion led her to seize the key and uncover the rooms fell secrets.

Behind the door, I found a dusty chamber. A heavy embossed leather screen was set before a frame, and that frame was covered in a gold-embroidered purple Venetian beach towelwhich Im pretty sure Paul got as a wrap gift when he was shooting I Love You, Man, said Yaeger. Anyways, I flung the heavy cloth aside and gasped as I looked in terror upon a pretty good painting of Paul. It was cute, and I was immediately confused about why he was keeping it in the attic. I thought it might be a gift for me, but he acted so weird when I told him I had looked at it. Hes owned the shirt hes wearing in the painting since middle school.

Rudd confirmed that the portrait was his greatest most shameful secret.

So you think I am mad? Is this what you wanted? To look upon this face, to see the truth etched in these lines? It is in this portrait that my sins have been written, instead of my own face, a frantic Rudd explained. Whoops, thats a mirror, actually. I meant to point to the painting. Theyre super hard to tell apart. Wait. Which one is the mirror and which one is the painting?

At press time, Rudd and his wife continued to argue about whether hed had the painting done fifteen years ago, or last week.

Youre Not Accepting Patients? Say No More, That Was the Excuse I Need to Not See a Doctor for Another Ten Years "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Hello, Im calling for Dr. Preston Cornthwaite. Yes, my friend Steve referred me. I wanted to make an appointment. Im sorry, can you say that again? Oh, hes fully booked and youre not accepting new patients at this time? Well, its been wonderful talking to you and I hope you have a nice day. Im going to hang up now and not seek medical guidance for another decade.

What did you say? You actually have some availability with another doctor in the office. What is this doctors name exactly? Sure, that sounds wonderful, but it probably makes sense for me to look up this Dr. Gramble, read some reviews, and get back to you on that. I dont want to rush into anything when it comes to the healthcare Ive routinely avoided.

No, really, I dont think there is any harm in taking a little bit of time to do my own research. Honestly, the lump isnt even that big. If I wear a turtleneck, Id say it looks way more like a golf ball than a tennis ball. It took at least five years to get to this size. How bad could another month or six be?

So now youre insisting that I come in? I mean, when we first spoke a few moments ago, you said you arent even taking any new patients. Oh, Dr. Cornthwaite is retiring? And youre saying my friend Steve actually sees Dr. Gramble now? And loves him? No, no, I dont need you to read glowing ZocDoc reviews over the phone. I guess this guy sounds alright. Um, one second.

Oh! You know, it just occurred to me. I dont even know if you accept my insurance. Are you sure this isnt out of network? You know how expensive that can be. Well, yes, I do use Blue Cross Blue Shield. But how do you know you accept my plan? Oh, you accept all plans.

So how about this? Ive got your number. Im going to give this a little think and ponder it a bit. When Im ready, maybe Ill give you a call back with my insurance number and we can book a time then. Its been a pleasure. Have a lovely rest of your year!

He Thought His Girlfriend Was Just Insecure. Turns Out She Wants To Upstage His Late Father. "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Every person in the world has secrets. It doesnt matter how long youve been with someone, theres a good chance you dont know everything about who they are or how they think.

OP in this case was definitely caught off guard when he realized why his girlfriend wanted so many compliments after she fixed him dinner.

OPs father is deceased, but left a legacy of making nice, fancy dinners for his family. Now they get together a couple of times a month to recreate some of his recipes and keep his memory alive.

My(25m) father (deceased) studied to be a chef but life got in the way and had to do something else, but he kept his cooking skills. Every Saturday or Sunday, he prepared us a 5-course meal for the family.

We (family) are not that good but we get together at least 2 times a month and cook some of the dishes that he used to prepare for us.

His girlfriend is an accomplished cook herself and has taken it upon herself to fix many (if not all) of OPs fathers meals herself. The thing is, no matter how many ways he told her the meals were great, she never seemed happy with his answers.

My gf (26f) also likes to cook and she is very good at it. She has been part of said tradition (as a guest) and knows the many plates my father made for us.

Now, for the past 6 months she has invited me to eat at her house, she has made every said plates, I didnt find it strange at the beginning but after a couple of times, every time that she asked me how it was, no matter how much I tell her that it was very good, she somehow ends up dissatisfied with my answer.

I have asked her what was the issue but got no answer.

Finally, he understood: she was wanting him to say that her meals were better than the ones his dad used to make.

Did This Dad Cross A Line Asking His Son To Pay For The Use Of His Cabin? "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Being a parent is hard, and anyone who tells you it gets easier as they get older probably doesnt have older kids. Bigger kids equal bigger problems, and you never really stop raising them.

You do have to decide what hills to die on, and when you want to voice your opinion rather than keeping it to yourself two choices that OP might have called wrong here.

His son is young and engaged. He has a cabin that he inherited when his wife passed away.

His son is paying for his wedding alone and doesnt have any money for a honeymoon. He asked whether or not they could use the cabin as a honeymoon spot, and then was obviously shocked (and hurt) when OP said sureas long as you can pay.

My late wife and I invested in a small winter cabin years ago. Im the owner now after her passing. My son (22) is getting married to his STBW in a month. They have no money for a destination honeymoon, they were barely able to plan the wedding.

He asked if they could spend their honeymoon in my winter cabin and I agreed but under the condition that they pay me.

He acted all shocked and tried to argue that its his moms cabin too but I pointed out how Im the owner now and that I pay to keep it maintained. He got upset and accused me of being materialistic and selfish after Id already been unhelpful with the wedding.

I told him I did the same thing with his aunt and it wasnt personal.

His family says hes being rude, but OP says its not personal.

He left with his fiancee and told the family about it.

Now Im being berating left and right and am being told to let him use the cabin and shamed me for asking for money.

His edit suggests hes been vocal of his disapproval of the marriage before this...

Nikkis Weekly Tarot Reading: April 10-16, 2023 "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

The cards pictured are from Uusis Pagan Otherworlds deck.

The Star and Seven of Swords

This week we have The Star and the Seven of Swords to guide us. They share their wisdom and show us how to navigate the days ahead.

The Star is a vibrant and glowing card that helps us to see how brightly we shine. The gorgeous creature on the card is basking in the light of her own power. She is nourishing her body, mind, and spirit.

The Star knows her power and is proud of all she has accomplished. Her pride does not reflect her ego but grounded confidence. And she is asking us to hold this same energy and let our self-esteem truly flourish.

Stars are symbols of hope, vitality, and new life. Through the balanced energy of this card, life can become brighter and more manageable.

What is amazing about this card is the balanced vibrations that allow everyone to feel full. The Star brings her talents and beauty to herself but she also gives these gifts to others as well.

She holds two goblets full of water, one she pours down over herself, and the other she pours back into the water. Through caring for herself, she can sustain her energy.

If she was only giving to herself or only giving to others, the energy could become depleted. But through this harmonious and symbiotic relationship, she can continue to shine.

Each of us has our own special talents, wisdom, and knowledge from our unique experiences. How can we use these gifts to support ourselves and others?

The Star also allows us to connect with the powers of the Universe more easily. Our prayer, meditation, and spiritual practice seem to be on a deeper level. We feel called to spend more time in a serene space.

This card aids in removing any negative feelings we may be holding on to about our past. Instead, we are focused on our future and feel our tenacity and strength within.

When we do this, along with giving ourselves compassion, there is a transformation. We start to give and receive love with more ease. If you let The Star card into your world, you will feel a major shift in your heart.

Our next card is the Seven of Swords. This card speaks to stuck energy that needs to be released. We have been avoiding or covering up something that needs to be examined. We are ready to address what has been plaguing us.

This could be a secret dream we need to speak into reality. It could be a bad habit we need to deal with in order to feel more whole. Or it could be a lie we are telling ourselves that is no longer working.

We are called to ask these questions and really examine our hearts and minds. We are called to take out our journals and write with deep honesty.

The Seven of Swords has us questioning our belief systems and investigating our thoughts. We are noticing our patterns and wonder if there is a...

How Long Have You Been Consuming Gene Therapied Pork? "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

For the last couple of years, I've recommended not eating pork due to its high linoleic acid (LA) content, but there's an even bigger reason to avoid it now. Since 2018,1 pork producers have been using customizable mRNA-based "vaccines" on their herds, and this has slipped completely under the radar. I myself just found out about it. As described on Merck's animal health website:2

"A revolutionary swine vaccine platform, SEQUIVITY harnesses RNA particle technology to create customized prescription vaccines against strains of influenza A virus in swine, porcine circovirus (PCV), rotavirus and beyond. It's supported by a sophisticated dashboard filled with comprehensive data and insights

Sequivity is a custom swine vaccine platform Sequivity only targets swine pathogen gene sequences of interest. Doesn't replicate or cause disease, delivering pathogen information to the immune system There's no need to transfer or handle live material like autogenous, killed or modified live vaccines

Targets existing and evolving swine pathogens, including diseases not covered by conventional swine vaccines. Allows for the creation of multivalent formulations by blending RNA particles to target multiple swine pathogens in one shot."

First RNA 'Vaccine' for Livestock Licensed in 2012

Merck was not alone in developing veterinary mRNA shots, however. They weren't even first on the scene, although they later acquired the company that started it all.

The very first RNA-based livestock vaccine, a swine influenza (H3N2) RNA shot, was licensed over a decade ago in 2012, and was developed by Harrisvaccines.3,4 The company followed up with an avian influenza mRNA shot in 2015.5 Harrisvaccines was acquired by Merck Animal Health later that year.6,7

RFK, Jr. and CHD Sue Biden and Fauci for Alleged Censorship "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

This article was written by Brenda Baletti, Ph.D. and originally published here.

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and Childrens Health Defense (CHD) on Friday filed a class action lawsuit against President Biden, Dr. Anthony Fauci and other top administration officials and federal agencies, alleging they waged a systematic, concerted campaign to compel the nations three largest social media companies to censor constitutionally protected speech.

Kennedy, CHD and Connie Sampognaro filed the complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, Monroe Division, on behalf of all the more than 80% of Americans who access news from online news aggregators and social media companies, principally Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.

The plaintiffs allege top-ranking government officials, along with an ever-growing army of federal officers, at every level of the government from the White House to the FBI, the CIA and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to lesser-well-known federal agencies induced those companies:

to stifle viewpoints that the government disfavors, to suppress facts that the government does not want the public to hear, and to silence specific speakers in every case critics of federal policy whom the government has targeted by name.

Kennedy, chairman and chief litigation counsel of CHD, said American Democracy itself is at stake in this case:

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart said, Censorship reflects a societys lack of confidence in itself. It is a hallmark of an authoritarian regime. It also violates the Constitution.

The collaboration between the White House and health and intelligence agency bureaucrats to silence criticism of presidential policies is an assault on the most fundamental foundation stone of American Democracy.

The lawsuits argument rests on the Norwood Principle, an axiomatic, or self-evident, principle of constitutional law that says the government may not induce, encourage, or promote private persons to accomplish what it is constitutionally forbidden to accomplish.

According to the plaintiffs, the U.S. government used the social media companies as a proxy to illegally censor free speech.

The complaint cit...

Moderna Rep Admits Everyone Is Part of Huge Experiment "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

From Dr. Joseph Mercola

Since COVID-19 first entered the scene, exchange of ideas has basically been outlawed. By sharing my views and those from various experts throughout the pandemic on COVID treatments and the experimental COVID jabs, I became a main target of the White House, the political establishment and the global cabal.

Propaganda and pervasive censorship have been deployed to seize control over every part of your life, including your health, finances and food supply. The major media are key players and have been instrumental in creating and fueling fear.

I am republishing this article in its original form so that you can see how the progression unfolded.

Originally published: July 12, 2021

In the featured video, which aired June 22, 2021, independent reporter Stew Peters plays an audio recording1 made by a young woman who suddenly developed Guillain-Barre syndrome after her Moderna injection. Her neurologist believes her condition is the direct result of the COVID shot.

While the neurologist filed an adverse event report with the U.S. Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS), the woman decided to report it to Moderna as well. The Moderna rep does not appear the least surprised by the injury, and appears to admit hes received similar reports before.

Everyone Who Gets the Jab Is Part of the Safety Trial

During that call, the Moderna representative reads her the following disclaimer:

The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine has not been approved or licensed by the Food and Drug Administration, but it has been authorized for emergency use by the FDA under an emergency use authorization to prevent coronavirus disease 2019, for use in individuals 18 years of age and older.

There is no FDA-approved vaccine to prevent COVID-19. The EUA for the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine is in effect for the duration of the COVID-19 EUA declaration, justifying emergency use of the product unless that declaration is terminated or the authorization is revoked sooner.

The rep also points out that all clinical trial phases are still ongoing, and that long-term protective efficacy against COVID-19 is unknown. When the patient asks whether everyone who gets the COVID shot even if they did not specifically sign up to be a trial participant is in fact part of the clinical trial, he replies, with a chuckle, pretty much, yeah.

So, in a nutshell, while vaccine makers, health authorities, m...

Is your car recording you? If you own a late model car today, chances are pretty good that it is, because all modern cars today are connected to the Internet for the transmission of data, and these modern cars are also often equipped with several cameras.

Tesla cars can have up to 9 cameras, and now an explosive report published by Reuters this week, who interviewed several former employees from Tesla, confirms that Tesla vehicles have the ability to record and transmit what goes on both inside, and outside the vehicle.

These employees admitted that they often shared hilarious, and sometimes embarrassing, videos of Tesla owners among themselves in their own private chat network.

Some of the recordings caught Tesla customers in embarrassing situations. One ex-employee described a video of a man approaching a vehicle completely naked.

Also shared: crashes and road-rage incidents. One crash video in 2021 showed a Tesla driving at high speed in a residential area hitting a child riding a bike, according to another ex-employee. The child flew in one direction, the bike in another. The video spread around a Tesla office in San Mateo, California, via private one-on-one chats, like wildfire, the ex-employee said.

And when we hear the perfect comeback in the perfect moment, well, it sticks with us.

Which is probably why these 16 people still remember these insults all these days down the line.

16. Oof.

I bet your parents change the subject when their friends ask about you.

15. Of course he did.

Teacher of mine once said to a classmate who kept making the most asinine contributions to the conversation:

You make it really difficult to underestimate you.

The guy had no idea what it meant, he thought it was a compliment .

14. Have a chuckle.

Was out with some workmates on a Xmas night out. One guy I worked with was drunk and obnoxious with it. He said to the barmaid fancy sitting on my face.

Quick as a flash she replied why ? Is your nose bigger than your dick. Place erupted in laughter and he skulked off. That was over 20 years ago and it still gives me a chuckle.

13. Hard to imagine.

After football practice in high school, was walking to the locker room and the coach said to me Smith (not real last name), any plans for the rest of the day?

I said Heading out with some of the guys on the team. Going to try to meet some girls.

His reply: Smith, you couldnt get laid in a whorehouse on dollar day with a fist full of $100 bills.

Stopped me right in my tracks.

This was 1980. I cant imagine what would happen if a coach said that to a kid today.

We are living in unprecedented times. I think it is safe to say that nobody alive today has ever seen such a massive realignment of countries in the Middle East coming together to put aside their differences and start working together to try and stop the endless wars, and work together for economic prosperity.

And the two countries that are spearheading the uniting of these Middle Eastern countries, are China and Russia.

This was a historic week of new meetings between countries in the Middle East, many of which have been bitter enemies with each other, sometimes for hundreds, if not thousands of years.

Here is a brief summary of these historical events that took place this past week.

The Celestial Alignments of Nancy Holt "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

When Nancy Holt died from leukemia in 2014, she still owned about 95% of her artworks. Her 50-year oeuvre includes concrete poetry, photography, video works, drawings, installation art, and artists books. Promoting it is among the primary projects of the Holt/Smithson Foundation, which also fosters the legacy of Holts more famous and institutionally collected husband, Robert Smithson.

Its really a 20-year project, says Lisa Le Feuvre, the inaugural executive director of the organization, which launched its programming in 2018 and shutters in 2038. Upon its dissolution the Holt/Smithson Foundation will transfer its digital archives to a to-be-determined research institution and bequeath its land holdings in Utah and Maine to Indigenous nations or nature conservancies.

Kate Laster Carves Ancestral Memory Into Paper "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

April 5 marked the first night of Passover. Upholding Jewish tradition, we reclined in our chairs, sang boisterously, and drank ample wine. We reveled in the joy and safety many of us are thankful to have in the present while holding close the memory of those that came before us. Alaskan-born Jewish artist Kate Laster carves those memories into delicate paper cuts. Then, she dunks that paper in the ocean.

My art is about the people we carry with us, she told Hyperallergic in an interview.

Lasters first memories are of snow floating on water. She grew up moving from place to place in rural Alaska, from temperate rainforest of Juneau to the icy treeless wilderness in Utqiavik. In a world den...

This One Food May Help Prevent Deadly Heart Attack and Stroke, Study Suggests "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Spicy food lovers may be benefiting their heart health, as recent research has discovered that consuming chili peppers significantly lowers the risk of heart attack and stroke. A study published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC) found that individuals who consume chili peppers four or more times a week had a 40% reduced risk of dying from a heart attack and a 60% reduced risk of dying from cerebrovascular diseases such as stroke, compared to those who dont regularly eat chili peppers.

Lead investigator Marialaura Bonaccio, PhD, an epidemiologist at the Neuromed Mediterranean Neurological Institute in Pozzilli, Italy, noted that the protective effect of chili peppers was consistent regardless of an individuals diet. The study analyzed data from 22,811 men and women aged 35 and older from the Molise region in Italy, tracking their health status for an average of eight years.

Its important to recognize the signs and symptoms of heart attack and stroke to seek timely medical attention. Here are some common symptoms for each:

Heart Attack:

  1. Chest pain or discomfort: This may feel like pressure, squeezing, fullness, or pain in the center of the chest. The sensation can last for more than a few minutes or may come and go.
  2. Upper body discomfort: Pain or discomfort can spread to one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw, or stomach.
  3. Shortness of breath: This can occur with or without chest discomfort.
  4. Cold sweat, nausea, or lightheadedness: These symptoms may accompany the aforementioned symptoms or may occur on their own.

Stroke:

  1. Sudden numbness or weakness: This can occur in the face, arm, or leg, especially on one side of the body.
  2. Sudden confusion or trouble speaking: The person may have difficulty understanding speech or speaking clearly.
  3. Sudden trouble seeing: This can occur in one or both eyes and may present as blurred or blackened vision.
  4. Sudden trouble walking: The person may experience dizziness, loss of balance, or coordination problems.
  5. Sudden severe headache: This headache may be accompanied by no known cause and can be described as the worst headache of their life.

Remember the acronym F.A.S.T. to quickly identify the signs of a stroke:

  • Face: Ask the person to smile. Is one side of the face drooping?
  • Arms: Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?
  • Speech: Ask the person to repeat a simple sentence. Is their speech slurred or difficult to understand?
  • Time: If any of these symptoms are present, call emergency services immediately.

In both cases, seeking immediate medical attention is crucial for improving the chances of survival and minimizing potential complications. If you or someone around you experiences any of these symptoms, dont hesitate to call emergency servi...

Corrupt UK Parliament Flees During COVID Truth Speech "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Andrew Bridgen MP presented to Parliament the extremely important evidence regarding the serious harms and deaths as a result of the experimental mRNA Covid 19 vaccines.   We see the MPs scurrying out, akin to rats deserting the sinking ship, frightened by the truth maybe? Or ordered by their masters to leave? In the wake of this presentation, there has been a public announcement for the case of misfeasance and misconduct in public office to be reopened in light of this new information. We are calling for the above case to be reopened after MP Andrew Bridgens speech in Parliament on 17th March 2023, where he cited government data proving beyond doubt that the MRNA Covid 19 vaccines and boosters are causing more harm than benefit. The data is clear, for all healthy people and all those considered at risk under 70, there is a greater risk of harm and chance of adverse effects from taking the experimental vaccine/ boosters than there is of dying from covid. The case was lodged on 20th Dec 2021, and the complaint alleges (amongst other things) misfeasance and misconduct in public office, gross negligence manslaughter, corporate manslaughter, murder, conspiracy to murder, genocide and crimes against humanity. The police reviewed the 1000s of pieces of evidence until February 2022, they issued a statement to say they had found no evidence to support the complaint. They didnt even contact one of the many internationally acclaimed scientists and lawyers who all assisted with gathering the evidence (Robert F Kennedy Jr and Dr Michael Yeadon an ex-CSO of Pfizer, to name only two of them). Nor did they contact any victims that have been injured from the covid vaccine. It is clear to see that a colossal cover-up has been perpetrated against the people of the UK. New Moai Statue Discovered on Easter Island and There May Be More To Find

New Moai Statue Discovered in Dry Lake Bed on Easter Island

Moai at Rano Raraku, Easter Island. (Photo: Wikimedia Commons, Public domain)

Easter Island is known for its giant stone statues with stoic faces, known as moai. The small volcanic landmass in the Pacific Ocean is home to the indigenous Rapa Nui people, whose ancestors impressively crafted the moai. Ranging in size from three to 80 tons and towering up to 33 feet tall, the island's roughly 1,000 moai have long been an object of fascination around the world. Yet the story of the moai is still evolving: a new statue was discovered at the bottom of a dry lake bed. Exposed by climate change's effects, the new moai offers insight into what other hidden history the island may reveal.

The moai was discovered in a dried-up lake situated in a quarry on the island. It was long obscured by reeds, but receding water levels due to climate change exposed a glimpse of the stone. The find was announced by Salvador Atan Hito, the vice president of Ma'u Henua, the Indigenous organization that oversees the national park which stretches across much of the island. For the Rapa Nui people, it's [a] very, very important discovery, Hito told Good Morning America. Because it's here in the lake and nobody knows this existseven the ancestors, our grandparents don't know [about] that one.

The find suggests more moai may be yet to be discovered. The moai are important because they really represent the history of the Rapa Nui people, Terry Hunt, professor of archeology at the University of Arizona, said. They were the islanders' deified ancestors. They're iconic worldwide, and they really represent the fantastic archeological heritage of this island We think we know all the moai, but then a new one turns up, a new discovery...

How to Love the World More: George Saunders on the Courage of Uncertainty "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

In a world full of people who seem to know everything, passionately, based on little (often slanted) information, where certainty is often mistaken for power, what a relief it is to be in the company of someone confident enough to stay unsure (that is, perpetually curious).

How to Love the World More: George Saunders on the Courage of Uncertainty

Nothing, not one thing, hurts us more or causes us to hurt others more than our certainties. The stories we tell ourselves about the world and the foregone conclusions with which we cork the fount of possibility are the supreme downfall of our consciousness. They are also the inevitable cost of survival, of navigating a vast and complex reality most of which remains forever beyond our control and comprehension. And yet in our effort to parse the world, we sever ourselves from the full range of its beauty, tensing against the tenderness of life.

How to love the world more by negotiating our hunger for certainty and our gift for story is what George Saunders explores in some lovely passages from A Swim in a Pond in the Rain: In Which Four Russians Give a Master Class on Writing, Reading, and Life (public library) the boundlessly wonderful and layered book in which he reckoned with the key to great storytelling and the way to unbreak our hearts.

I have been writing about the threat of AI to free speech. Then recently I learned that ChatGPT falsely reported on a claim of sexual harassment that was never made against me on a trip that never occurred while I was on a faculty where I never taught. ChapGPT relied on a cited Post article that was never written and quotes a statement that was never made by the newspaper.
Ja gut, das sind diese ChatGPT-Leute. GPT-4 ist bestimmt viel besser!!1!
When the Washington Post investigated the false story, it learned that another AI program Microsofts Bing, which is powered by GPT-4, repeated the false claim about Turley.

It was a dark and stormy night. Das ist so "Onkel erzhlt Kleinkind eine Geschichte"-Niveau. "Pltzlich ging nichts mehr". *gbel*

Discover The Wildest Rabbit Holes People Have Tumbled Down "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

The internet is good, its bad, and some days like when youre supposed to be working and end up chasing a white rabbit down holes you didnt know existed they can seem like a little bit of both.

Get ready, because these 16 people are recalling the wildest rabbit holes theyve found, and their stories just might have you tempted to go for a tumble yourself.

16. The safety of flying.

I worked in administration at an aviation academy for a few years and decided Id start listening to aviation podcasts since I didnt know much about it. I came across a plane crash podcast that talks about crashes in history and how it improved the safety of flying.

I was fascinated by it, and found myself gradually needing to know more and listening to more of the same type of podcasts, watching videos, and listening to black box recordings. It was eerie but interesting at the time.

Now, I regret it tremendously because since then Ive developed horrible anxiety when flying.

15. No idea why.

YouTube videos of old chainsaw restorations.

No idea why, but I guess thats why its a rabbit hole.

I dont even own a chainsaw or have a need for one.

14. So addictive.

An Uncle Johns Bathroom Reader. Started with 1 and ended up with a 20+ collection.

13. Roommates beware.

I really enjoy going on a citys Craigslist, then to rooms/shared (or whatever it is for finding a room mate).

Then typing words like warning or beware in the search to see what kind of horror show nightmare room mate scenarios people have decided to write about.. its usually some juicy headline like warning...

People Share the Things You Should Avoid When Traveling To Europe "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Traveling is one of the greatest things in the world. There are so many amazing things about leaving your comfort zone, but that said, its nice to have a heads up when youre heading somewhere totally unfamiliar.

If youre a noob when it comes to traveling Europe, here are 15 things more experienced travelers say you should definitely avoid.

14. Where there are tourists

Watch out for pickpockets in Western Europe.

There is a stigma that Eastern Europe like Romania and Bulgaria is dangerous but pick pocketing happens more in Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona, etc.

12. Dont feel bad.

Avoid any restaurant that tries to strong arm you into entering.

come come sit down as they shove a menu in your face, fast talking, usually offering a free drink/entree/dessert, basically trying to get you to feel bad about turning them down.

11. Mind your manners.

Dont assume that everything will be open during the hours youd expect in your home countrythis is true no matter where youre going. It varies by country and region, but in my experience, grocery stores, banks, post offices, etc., had much more restricted hours than they do in the US. In the US, its rare for a grocery store to close before 9 PM, if its not open 24 hours. In Europe, its normal for grocery stores to close quite early, and for things to be closed on weekends, though this varies by country.

Also, mind your manners. In America, you can often skip over the formalities without being seen as rude. In Europe, this is much harder.

Be more direct about what you want, and more polite about...

In 2014, the world of filmand film audienceslost a great light. The actor Philip Seymour Hoffman passed away tragically at age 46 after a brilliant career spanning from cult classics like The Big Lebowski to an Academy Award for his performance in Capote. Born and raised in Fairport, a suburb of Rochester, New York, Hoffman has been greatly missed by many, particularly in his hometown. Now his likeness is immortalized in bronze outside the iconic George Eastman Museum in Rochester, a pilgrimage site for film lovers around the world.

The life-sized statue was originally created for a New York City site, but it fit so well at a temporary exhibit at the museum that organizers donated it permanently. Designed by David A. Annand and commissioned by producer James Declan Tobin, the statue depicts Hoffman happily striding with a script in hand. He appears to be headed to the Dryden Theater, the museum's specialty cinema which screens old moviesincluding incredibly rare original, nitrate films. The museum itself is situated in the elegant mansion of George Eastman, founder of the Eastman Kodak Company.

The institution is the world's oldest museum dedicated to photography. Its photography collections and motion picture film archives are legendary and responsible for preserving much of 20th-century visual history. The greatest actor of my generation has come home to the community that loves him, Tobin said of the statue's placement. This is where Phil belongs. I wanted a home that is worthy of Phil, and we have it at...

New Study: Bacteria in Meat Linked to Urinary Tract Infections "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

A recent study suggests that the bacteria Escherichia coli (E. coli), commonly found in undercooked meat, may be responsible for hundreds of thousands of urinary tract infections (UTIs) in the United States, with women being disproportionately affected.

E. coli is a large and diverse group of bacteria present in the environment, food, and the intestines of people and animals. While most strains are harmless, some can cause illnesses such as UTIs, pneumonia, and others.

Researchers at the George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health used a novel genomic approach to trace the origins of E. coli infections in the US. They estimated that E. coli may cause between 480,000 and 640,000 UTIs annually. Women are up to 30 times more likely to develop UTIs than men, with millions of women impacted by UTIs yearly.

Lance B. Price, a professor of environmental and occupational health and the founder and co-director of the GW Antibiotic Resistance Action Center, states that our study provides compelling evidence that dangerous E. coli strains are making their way from food animals to people through the food supply and making people sick sometimes really sick.

The study, published in One Health, involved isolating E. coli from raw chicken, turkey, and pork purchased at major grocery store chains in Flagstaff, Arizona. The researchers also collected E. coli isolates from urine and blood samples of patients hospitalized for UTIs in the same city.

By analyzing the genomes of E. coli from both meat and UTI patients, the researchers developed a new predictive model to determine the source of the bacteria. The foodborne E. coli strains identified in the study were also found to cause serious kidney and bloodstream infections, which can be fatal.

E. coli, often associated with diarrhea, is the leading cause of UTIs in the US, accounting for around 85% of cases. UTIs can range from simple, antibiotic-treatable bladder infections to life-threatening bloodstream infections.

Common signs and symptoms of UTIs include:

  1. A strong, persistent urge to urinate
  2. A burning sensation during urination
  3. Passing frequent, small amounts of urine
  4. Cloudy, dark, bloody, or strong-smelling urine
  5. Pain or pressure in the lower abdomen
  6. Feeling tired or shaky
  7. Fever or chills (a sign that the infection may have reached the kidneys)

To prevent E. coli infections, follow food safety guidelines when cooking:

  1. Wash hands with soap and water before, during, and after preparing food, and before eating.
  2. Wash hands after touching uncooked meat, poultry, seafood, flour, or eggs. Clean counters, cutting boards, and utensils after they touch any of these products.
  3. Rinse fresh fruits and vegetables under running water.
  4. Ensure food is cooked at a safe minimum temperature.
  5. Keep raw meat...

COVID-19 NSW 2023: Counting Dead People Part 5 "IndyWatch Feed Alllocal"

The COVID dead are not published over Easter as Australia enjoys a four day break, so most of the data in this post doesn't go beyond 6 - 7 April 2023.

Between 31 March and 6 April 2023 there were 9,876 newly confirmed COVID-19 infections recorded in New South Wales.

A total of 952 COVID-19 cases had been hospitalised with 20 in intensive care unit. Note: Between 27 March and 2 April 2023 NSW Health records show 46.6% of those admitted with COVID-19 infections had received 4 or more vaccination doses. As of 1 April XBB and its sub-lineages were the dominant variant group in community cases. This includes XBB.1.5, XBB.1.16 and XBB.1.9.

Another 36 people had died as a result of COVID-19 infection in the 7 days up to 6 April 2023. NOTE: There is no published data on gender, age or area health service published for this group to date. However, given past NSW Respiratory Surveillance Report data it is like between 1-3 people died in the Northern River region and that they were in the oldest age groupings.

Of those people newly infected during this 7 day period, est. 220 lived in the NSW Northern Rivers region.

NOTE: Given that NSW Health in its 4-week tables only publishes local government area infection statistics for people who tested positive by way of a PCR test and in the Northern Rivers region around half the people being tested rely on the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) to confirm COVID-19 infection, the following numbers for the 7 local government areas in NE NSW are significant underestimates of total positive tests.

Northern...
