Striking Contemporary Art Museum in Orange County Epitomizes Southern California Living

Clad in white terracotta tiles, the Orange County Museum of Art (OCMA) cuts a striking figure at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa. Designed by American architectural firm Morphosis, the 53,000-square-foot museum opened to the public in October 2022. Not only does the building house OCMA's collection of over 4,500 objects, but it also provides areas for education, exhibitions, and events, as well as a grand staircase intended to function as a community space.

In true Southern California form, the building's architecture has a strong relationship between indoor and outdoor space. Large windows that break up the terracotta facade allow streams of light to pour into the interior. Visitors are welcomed into an open, airy atrium and are then invited to walk up a grand staircase to a spacious upper plaza on the roof terrace. Designed to be used for events and exhibitions, the plaza takes up nearly 70 percent of the museum's footprint.

The museum's gallery spaces have been mainly organized at ground level as storefronts in an effort to connect pedestrians to the collection. There are also smaller, more intimate galleries, that connect to the mezzanine via a sky bridge.

In terms of materials, the selection of tile, glass, and steel gives OCMA a sleek, futuristic feel. The firm designed the exterior facade to play with the color and forms of the surrounding architecture, in order to blend into the environment.

By creating a gradient of architectural intensity, from complex forms at the museums entry to rectilinear and flexible forms within the galleries, the building is a memorable and striking environment for formal and informal experiences with art, states Morphosis.

In the summer of 1987, 30 of the world's top artists came together to create Luna Lunathe world's first modern art amusement park. Located in Hamburg, Germany, the event attracted legendary artists like Salvador Dal, Roy Lichtenstein, Keith Haring, and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Over the course of 13 weeks, more than 240,000 people visited this unique take on a traditional amusement park.

And now, for the first time, the English translation of the original text published about the event had been made available. LUNA LUNA: The Art Amusement Park, published by Phaidon, includes a preface by creator and author Andr Heller. Aside from photographs of the installation, the book also includes the moon graphics and short text that each artist was asked to create for the promotion of the event. Thankfully, those works have now been dusted off and can be viewed once again.

Phaidon's book is a wonderful way to reintroduce the landmark event to the public, especially considering the history of Luna Luna. Originally conceived as a touring exhibition destined for multiple countries, a change in leadership and subsequent litigation made for a sad end. 3D Renderings of Frank Lloyd Wrights Unbuilt Architecture Celebrate His Creative Genius

One of the most prolific architects of the 20th century, Frank Lloyd Wright had no shortage of ideas. Throughout his life, he designed 1,171 architectural works. Many of them, like the Guggenheim Museum and Fallingwater, were eventually built. But over half660 to be exactnever moved beyond paper. Now, thanks to the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, we are finally getting a look at what his unbuilt architecture would have looked like.

Working with digital artist David Romero, the organization has been building an impressive library of renderings that show Wright's creative genius. From the Butterfly Bridge that would have connected San Francisco and Oakland to the floating cabins of the Lake Tahoe Summer Colony, it's clear that Wright's creativity had no limits.

The reasons that these pieces of incredible architecture were never built vary. In 1957, Wright's homage to his adopted home state of Arizona was rejected for several reasons. While Wright considered his avant-garde design for the Arizona State Capitol Building to be a gift to the city, officials felt otherwise. Deemed too ornate and, with a price tag of $5 million, too costly, he was passed over for the project.

A parent who homeschooled his four children for two decades reflects on the parallels between Bitcoin and sovereign education.

This is an opinion editorial by Scott Lindberg, a parent who homeschooled four children over 20 years with his wife, and cofounder of Free Market Kids, a company that teaches Bitcoin concepts through tabletop games.

My wife, Tali, and I recently presented educational information about Bitcoin to homeschoolers for three days at a homeschooling convention in St. Louis, Missouri. We hosted an exhibition booth and led a workshop session and the event didnt go exactly as expected.

The Context For Self-Custody Of Education

Bitcoin has clarified misconceptions in energy, economics, diet and countless other fields, but education is another obvious area in need of an overhaul of truth. At least, this is obvious in hindsight, once you have embraced Bitcoin.

Tali and I have always been fired up about taking self custody of education, but we didnt describe it this way when we started. We have four grown children who we homeschooled for 20 years. When we started, it was just schooling. But thanks to going down the Bitcoin rabbit hole, we now have a more precise framework to explain self custody of education and its significance.

The ways that Bitcoiners and homeschoolers think are incredibly similar for reasons Ill explain here. I am more bullish on this community than ever, but we have work to do. Just as the bitcoin mining and energy sectors are merging, so too will Bitcoiners and homeschoolers eventually merge.

If the Brackeen v. Halland case currently challenging the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) of 1978 before the U.S. Supreme Court is successful, Native children are more likely to be placed with non-Native foster parents, and from there, face a surge in psychiatric labeling and drugging.

Tribes across the U.S. are outraged by the attempt to dismantle ICWA, and a think tank was recently formed in California to respond to what seems a foundational threat to community sovereignty, beginning with who controls Native child welfare decisions. Its the latest in a battle as old as the United States: White Christian evangelicals fighting for the right to take Native children away from family, tribe, and culture, and re-educate them, no matter the harmsand its outcome will determine whether more Native youth are exposed to psychiatric drugs.

Chad Brackeen and his wife, Jennifer, lead plaintiffs, are White, and according to a 2019 interview with The New York Times, also dedicated members of the fundamentalist Church of Christ, which they attend twice a week, and through which they first became inspired to adopt. They began as foster parents before successfully adopting a young Dine (Navajo) boy, and then mounting efforts to adopt his sister. They contend they are being racially discriminated against by ICWAs mandates favoring a great aunt of both of these children, who has stepped forward from their tribal community seeking to adopt the sister.

The Fear

While working as a consulting psychologist in Indian Country, an elder Native friend laughed aloud recalling to me how his mother would run everywhere, throwing our clothes and stuff in closets or under blankets anytime white people visited. He was teaching me about a ubiquitous fear in North American tribal communities: having their children taken away.

For decades, theres been a shortage of places for displaced American Indian and Alaskan Native (Native) children to grow up feeling safe and secure, and this places pressure on tribal communities and their child agencies to use non-Native foster placement resources. If successful, current efforts to dismantle ICWA before the Supreme Court will make it much easier for non-Native, usually white, parents to foster and adopt Native children without regard to their community of origin or its cultural survival.

The terror and mad rush of my elder friends mother has never entirely left Native America and are about to be reenergized.

But what about the contention that ICWAs dismantling will also create a surge in Native foster youth being psychiatrically labeled and drugged? Its frankly...

Do you have tons of preps but end up buying replacements of items you KNOW you have but just cant lay hands on? Do you have everything you need for specific types of emergencies? Hows your emergency binder looking? And what about that prep closet (or room, or cabinet) do you even know whats in it?

Getting organized as a prepper is almost as important as having the preps themselves. You know the saying, if you cant protect it, you dont own it? Well, if you cant find it when you need it, you might as well not own it.

This is why I swear by lists. I know, I know. A lot of experts in the survival industry will tell you that you cant survive by list alone. And I agree. Just having a checklist and fulfilling it doesnt mean that I have the skills to use the items I bought or even whether those specific items will be useful in my setting. Lists are definitely not the be-all and end-all of preparedness.

However, if youre not using them, you are overlooking a vital tool. Lists are the secret weapon of the most organized preppers.

Heres how I use lists to be better prepared.

I use lists religiously to stay prepared and well-organized. If my preps are set up in a way that I can quickly find what I need in an emergency, Im able to breeze past the finding that thing part of my plan and enact the next step. This makes me better able to handle just about anything life throws at me.

As a creative person, Im prone to chaos. I can easily drift into disarray which can then rapidly descend into pandemonium. Lists help a lot with this. Here are a few reasons why:

• I can note where specific things are kept in my general list, making them quick and easy to locate when I need them.
• It helps me to keep like items with like items.
• It helps me to quickly see what Im missing for an expected situation, rather than needing to pull everything out and do an inventory.
• It helps me budget my efforts. I can look at my lists and see where I may be falling short. Then I can focus my preparedness energy and money there.

Since Ive become better about using lists, Ive had many fewer experiences of buying the same whatchamacallit repeatedly because I cant locate the whatchamacallits I already have.

What kind of lists should you have?

Like all things preparedness, you should have lists that relate specifically to you and your family. If you dont live in tornado country, you probably dont need to stock a storm cellar. Likewise, if youre far from the sea, preparing for a hurricane doesnt make sense. The same thing goes for other regional likelihoods, such as earthquakes and wildfires.

In general, here are some examples of lists you should have.

Previously working for the churchs video and production department, Kellogg was unaware of the policy until after she was hired in 2019. The lawsuit claims that the policy violates Washington states Consumer Protection Act and other labor laws.

Regardless of whether this is a church, or not a church, or a nonprofit or a for-profit corporation, requiring employees to rebate any wages to an employer is an unlawful practice, Eric Nusser said. He is one of Kelloggs lawyers working for the Terrell Marshall Law Group.

Kelloggs lawsuit includes conversations between her and other Churchome employees who told her about the mandatory tithe policy, along with a reprimand from her supervisor regarding the expectation that you get in rhythm with our company policy on tithing. A riot between Hindu devotees and a mob occurred in the suburb of Malad West in the megacity of Mumbai, India, during the Ram Navami festivities, where a few men suffered injuries.

A senior high school student in the Philippines was condemned for his Twitter post. He made a food review of the consecrated communion wafer given to him during Holy Mass and even described the taste as similar to cornflakes.

In the post of the now-deleted Twitter account of the student of the Ateneo de Manila University Senior High School (ADMU-SHS), a food review was made of the consecrated host, where he judged the wafer based on characteristics such as design, taste, and crispness. The unnamed student even gave the wafer a rating of 7.1 out of 10.

The white wafer, known as communion bread among Catholics, is offered as the Body of Christ during the Holy Communion to mass attendees. During Mass, the priest consecrates the bread and wine for transubstantiation into the Body and Blood of Christ, respectively.

Reports differ on how the student could smuggle the communion wafer out of the church. Some suggested that the student stole the host by taking the consecrated wafer during Mass and putting the bread in their pocket before the end of Mass, where the student took a picture of the consecrated host before writing the post.

My boyfriend grew up in a poor family. He makes decent money nowadays, but he is the only one with stable income in his family.

His sister (23) is a leech but he has a blind spot for her. She is irresponsible, totally anti-work (why waste time working when you have to live your life) and she despises me for kicking her out a year ago.

During Covid I let her move into my apartment and while my boyfriend and I went camping for a weekend she threw a huge party and trashed my place. Of course my boyfriend took her side but he didnt have any say in it it was my apartment.

Nowadays she is straight up rude to me, shes always saying cant wait till he breaks up with you, she puts his whole family against me. Apparently my boyfriend still funds everything in her life. She just has his card info and uses it without the limits.

Now that OP is pregnant and unable to work as many hours, things have gotten quite a bit tighter. Shes made sure theyre both doing 50/50, which means her boyfriend is home less because hes got to work overtime.

Current global subsidies, propping up business as usual for degenerative agriculture, amount to $700 billion annually.²

Shifting priorities, we can pay organic farmers and ranchers, not only a fair price for the food and products they produce, but also pay them for sequestering excess atmospheric carbon in soils and above ground plants and trees, as well as providing other key environmental services such as preserving clean water, improving soil fertility, protecting biodiversity, wetlands, and wildlife habitat, and rehydrating and reforesting parched landscapes.

Following recent policy reforms and recommendations in the European Union, strongly supported by our organic allies in the EU, we need raise our expectations and our demands in the US and North America.

We need to set a goal of 25% of farmers being organic by 2030, or as soon as possible. Only 17,000³ of the US's two million farms are now certified organic, while another 10-15% (according to FAO projections) could eventually be certified as organic, with minor changes in farm and animal husbandry practices, proper financial incentives, and improved infrastructure and market access.

OpenAI is the creator of ChatGPT, which has taken the world by storm. It's the most rapidly adopted tech platform in history, acquiring more than 1 million users in the first five days.¹ Less than two months after its public release, it had more than 100 million users.²

"GPT" stands for "generative pretrained transformer," and the "chat" indicates that it's a chatbot. The first GPT platform was created by OpenAI in 2018. GPT-3.5 was released in November 2022 and the newest version, 4.0, was released a few weeks ago.³

ChatGPT uses machine learning statistical pattern finding in huge datasets to generate human-like responses in everyday language to any question asked. It basically works by predicting what the next word in a sentence ought to be based on previous examples found in the massive amounts of data that it has access to.

AGI Will Be a Central Part of the Control Grid

While AI platforms like ChatGPT are neutral in and of themselves, it's already crystal clear that they will become an integral part of the globalist control grid. In short order, chatbots will replace conventional search engines, and this, unfortunately, could easily transform our world into something straight out of the 2006 sci-fi-comedy "Idiocracy," considering the bias being built in.

No longer will you get even a small variety of potential answers to your questions. AI will give you the answer, and opposing viewpoints won't even be part of the equation. The dangers of this should be obvious. Whatever a totalitarian regime wants the population to think and believe is what the AI will provide. As a result, true learning, and hence personal development, will essentially cease.

ChatGPT Poised to Deceive the Masses

To make my point, consider the following answers I got when I asked OpenAI's ChatGPT and Microsoft Bing's OpenAI-powered search engine but highly customized by Microsoft⁴ to edit and improve a speech I had written. These were their responses. They are both highly biased and prejudiced, but OpenAI's response is beyond tame compared to Microsoft's Bing version.

MIT scientist Stephanie Seneffs paper,¹ Worse Than the Disease: Reviewing Some Possible Unintended Consequences of mRNA Vaccines Against COVID-19, published in the International Journal of Vaccine Theory, Practice and Research in collaboration with Dr. Greg Nigh, is still one of the best, most comprehensive descriptions of the many possible unintended consequences of the mRNA gene transfer technologies incorrectly referred to as COVID vaccines.

December 9, 2021, their paper was reprinted in the Townsend Letter, the Examiner of Alternative Medicine.² Seneff, Ph.D., a senior research scientist at MIT who has been conducting research at MIT for over five decades, has spent a large portion of her career investigating the hazards and mechanisms of action of glyphosate.

Her attention was diverted to the science of mRNA gene transfer technologies in early 2020, when Operation Warp Speed was announced. As noted in her paper, many factors that lacked precedent, yet were being implemented at breakneck speed, included:

1. The first-ever use of PEG in an injection
2. The first-ever use of mRNA gene transfer technology against an infectious agent
3. The first-ever vaccine to make no clear claims about reducing infection, transmissibility or death
4. The first-ever coronavirus vaccine ever tested on humans (and previous coronavirus vaccines all failed due to antibody-dependent enhancement, a condition in which the antibodies actually facilitate infection rather than defend against it)
5. The first-ever use of genetically modified polynucleotides in the general population

The Soviet Empire started to crumble around 1989. The time period between the forming of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in the late 1940s and the retreat of Russia from Eastern Europe with the eventual collapse of communism in Russia is known as the Cold War. There was a great power confrontation in Europe that did not result in war.

Essentially, US-led NATO stood its ground to prevent further Soviet expansion from the territory it occupied at the end of World War II and waited for the inevitable collapse. Now, perhaps not everyone saw the collapse of the Soviet empire as inevitable. But all one had to do was view the Soviet empire for oneself, up close and personal, which is what I did in the early 1970s as a young Air Force officer.

The State of the Communist Economy

The Russian economy at that time is painful to describe. Moscow and Leningrad (Saint Petersburg), the so-called jewels of the Soviet Union, were depressing. Everything was shoddily built. There were very few cars on the streets. There were no retail shops deserving of the name. Lines formed in the middle of the night awaiting the opening of the few bakeries. I saw this for myself from my hotel window on the Nevsky Prospekt in Leningrad. GUM, the worlds largest department store near Moscows Red Square, sold nothing that was equal to what could be found in any garage sale in the West.

Actually, that should not be a surprise since at one time all those garage-sale goods were marketable. I did not visit Berlin, but those who did say that crossing the Brandenburg Gate from West Berlin to East Berlin was shocking. The very idea that the Soviet economy and lifestyle was in any way superior was ludicrous. It took brutal police power and the infamous Berlin Wall to prevent mass exodus to the West.

Some people excel at training their dogs to do tricks like rolling over, standing up, or giving a paw; but what about training them to do skateboard tricks? Cabbage (aka Bai Cai) is a white French Bulldog who has mesmerized the Internet by skating like an absolute pro. This is more than just a cute pup posing on a skateboard. Cabbage fully seems to understand how to push off, keep his balance, make turns, and even skate down stairs. Its no wonder that some are calling him Tony Dawg.

At home, Cabbage is described as a very gentle dog who always seems to be in a good mood, and doesn't bark very often. But he took social media by storm after the first videos of him going for a ride and cleverly avoiding obstacles popped up online. Like any skater who takes it seriously, Cabbage is quite stylish, donning patterned shirts, jerseys, and even sunglasses or chains as he speeds through town.

But how did this french bulldog learn to skate? According to the South China Morning Post, his owner, Zhao Chen, who is also a skater, began training him in 2020. At first, I used snacks to lure him to stay on the board, Zhao says. Then, I taught him how to skate with one paw. Once he picked up the skills, he became very interested and just kept skating on his own. After just 20 days of practice, Cabbage was already skating by himself. To make up for his size and in order to move smoothly, he stays on the very front of the board.

To polish his skateboarding abilities, Cabbage visits the park every morning, where he skates alongside his human for 15 minutes. While he seems very proficient and ready to tackle more complex stuff, Zhao doesn't want to push him to learn more tricks that could be too much for him. If Cabbage can do some exercise and make a few people smile, that's more than enough. While Cabbage and I are having fun, I want to bring laughter to others too, Zhao shares. People live very stressful lives now. It would be nice if we could share our happiness.

Missing Toddler Found With Dog Who Never Left His Side While He Was Lost in the Woods

One family in New Jersey lived every parent's worst nightmare, but luckily there was a happy ending. Four-year-old Parker and his father Jason were making cupcakes when his dad stepped out to use the bathroom. After being gone for a few minutes, Jason returned to the kitchen, but Parker was nowhere to be found. That's when panic set in as Jason realized that his son and their black lab Toby had wandered out the back door.

Jason immediately called his wife Vickey to let her know that he couldn't find Parker. She told him to call the police as she raced home. Their home is surrounded by woods and leads onto a  golf course. After an hour of searching, they were still unable to find their toddler or Toby. Luckily, a neighbor heard a boy crying in the woods and called over the state troopers.

The bodycam of the first trooper to reach the boy captured the incredible moment when Parker was found. While he was shaken up and crying, he was otherwise unharmed and ran straight into his mother's arms. In fact, the thing he seemed most upset about was the fact that he'd lost his shoe, crying out, I want my shoe!

Parker and Toby were about a quarter of a mile from their home when there were found, and Parker confirmed that his dog never left his side. Toby was also crucial to the rescue, as Ian Emmi, the state trooper who found the duo, first spotted the dog in the woods.

Originally saw the dog jumping around doing circles so I figured he had to be close by if the dog was there, Emmi said.

Vickey acknowledged that the experience was a reminder that things can change in the blink of an eye. To ensure that Parker and Toby won't be going on any more unauthorized adventures, they've since upgraded the security in their home and added alarms that go off when doors are opened.

Arkansas has taken the next step to approve a bill that protects the right to mine Bitcoin, which now heads to the governors office.

The Arkansas State House has passed a bill aimed at regulating the Bitcoin mining industry in the state. Already passed by the State Senate, the bill now heads to the governors office for approval. The Arkansas Data Centers Act of 2023 would create guidelines for bitcoin miners and would aim to prevent fraudulent business practices. 

The bill proposes that a Bitcoin mining business may operate in the state if it complies with state laws concerning business guidelines and tax policies, any ordinances concerning operations and safety, any rules or rates for utility service provided by or on behalf of a public entity, and state and federal employment laws. The bill also proposes that miners will be required to pay applicable taxes and government fees in acceptable forms of currency and operate in a manner that causes no stress on an electric public utilitys generation capabilities or transmission network. The bill further allows individuals to operate home Bitcoin mining according to applicable utility rules and rates.

The bill aims to recognize that data centers create jobs, pay taxes and provide general economic value to local communities and the state. It clarifies the guidelines needed to protect Bitcoin miners from discriminatory industry-specific regulations and taxes. The proposed bill has defined several key terms such as "digital asset" that means Bitcoin and cryptocurrency. It also defines "digital asset miner" as an individual who mines for digital assets and "digital asset mining" as the use of electricity to power a computer for the purpose of securing or validating a blockchain network.

The proposed bill further clarifies that "digital asset mining business" means a group of computers working at a single site that consumes more than one megawatt (1MW) on an average annual basis for the purpose of generating digital assets by securing a blockchain network. It also defines "node" as a computational device that contains a copy of blockchain-distributed ledger technology. The bill defines "residence" as a permanent dwelling place, unit, or accessory structure.

Im autistic. Its the reason for my psychiatric misdiagnoses, most notably borderline personality disorder. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. I am also nonbinary and bisexual. These are all traits that commonly overlap with autism and other neurodivergent traits like ADHD and synesthesia, both of which I also experience.

I learned early on in life that adults perceived my natural traits as evidence of psychiatric problems. I was considered weird growing up. Im a semi-nonspeaker. My mother, a consumer of popular psychiatric literature, believed my nonspeaking and emotional and sensory sensitivities were evidence of neuronormative social anxiety. My neurogenic stuttering was viewed as a social anxiety issue as well; neurogenic stuttering is now known to be caused by a basal ganglia injury, in my case, likely from an injury to my hypermobile neck. I first received psychiatric care in a kindergarten speech therapy program. Picking my fingers has always been my biggest autistic stim; that behavior was likewise classified as an anxiety reaction.

Greek police and intelligence officers revealed that the two men, aged 27 and 29, were of Pakistani origin and were recruited by a man wanted for murder in Iran to carry out attacks against the Chabad of Athens center in the neighborhood of Psirri, in central Athens. 

The center is part of the larger Chabad-Lubavitch international movement. It also hosts a synagogue, a grocery store, and a kosher restaurant.

Authorities also discovered that the two men worked manual jobs in Attica and the countryside, where they were part of a Pakistani jihadi group operating in Athens. Greek police and intelligence officers subsequently dismantled the terrorist organization.

According to Greek intelligence sources, the two arrested Pakistanis lived in Zakynthos and Sparta in recent years and came from the Punjab, where their leader, who lives permanently in Tehran, is from. All the suspects are Shi'ites.

Former NCAA womens swimming star Riley Gaines was ambushed and hit by a man wearing a dress at San Francisco State University on Thursday after giving a speech about saving womens sports during a Turning Point USA and Leadership Institute event on the campus. Immersive Tim Burton Exhibition Is a Labyrinth Into His Creative Genius

Filmmaker and artist Tim Burton is known for his whimsical films that incorporate humor and macabre. He's directed hit movies since the 1980s, making his work beloved by people across generations and the globe. Now, an exhibition is paying homage to this visionary. Called Tim Burtons Labyrinth, its an immersive experience that brings viewers into the universe of Burtons creative genius.

Visitors to Tim Burtons Labyrinth traverse a massive exhibition space that takes them through the different worlds of films including Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, Mars Attacks, Wednesday, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The different rooms are filled with original artworks by Burton along with specially created sculptures and animations. Fans of the directors work will appreciate the exaggerated cartoonish characters and surreal spaces, delighting in the fact that some of the works have never been seen before.

As the name suggests, the exhibition layout is a labyrinth. Visitors decide their path out of more than 300 possible routes, allowing for myriad ways to interact withand most importantly, enjoythe work and atmosphere.

Tim Burtons Labyrinth began in Madrid and will soon be moving to the Parc de La Villette in Paris. It will be on view from May 19 until August 20, 2023. Tickets are required to attend.
