Vllig klar also.

Ach. Ach was.

The picture was included in a 2022 presentation for student job applicants by Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) in New Mexico, one of the countrys nuclear weapons facilities, and it geolocated the image to the Volkel air force base in the Netherlands, one of six bases in five European countries where a total of 100 B61 nuclear gravity bombs are being stored as part of a nuclear-sharing agreement with the US.

But after months of investigation, law enforcement officials now suspect that the 50-foot yacht, the Andromeda, was probably not the only vessel used in the audacious attack. They also say the boat may have been a decoy

Ach. Ach was. Das ist ja unglaublich, Bob!

Ein Glck, dass wir die CIA haben.

Trumps Arrest PROVES We Live Under Democrat TYRANNY | Ep 266 "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Glenn examines the 34 felony charges that have been lobbed at President Trump and warns of the dark place America is headed. All signs point to a banana republic when a justice system is used as a political weapon, fear keeps people in line, and the corrupt public/private partnerships reign supreme. Remember the video from China when President Xi had his political rival forcibly removed on live TV? This is essentially what the Democrat Party is doing to its biggest political opponent. Any Democrat or member of the mainstream media who condemned Xis actions or expressed shock but is now applauding what is happening to Donald Trump can kindly SIT DOWN. Blaze Media co-founder and @LevinTV host Mark Levin confirms to Glenn: We ARE in a tyranny. The question is whether we can claw our way out. He tells Glenn about his dinner with President Trump just hours after he learned of DA Braggs indictment. The more they push Trump, the more he pushes back. He will NOT collapse. Levin also explains the REAL reason they want to take out Trump and calls on the GOP, billionaires on the right, and DAs to stop being cowards and enforce the rule of law: They need to scour these law books and sue the bastards!

5 reasons the Trump case judge should RECUSE himself NOW "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Theres good reason why President Trump recently said that the judge overseeing his case, New York Supreme Court Justice Judge Juan Merchan, hates me. In fact, there are at least 5 good reasons why this judge should recuse himself IMMEDIATELY thanks to a potential conflict of interest. In this clip, Glenn provides those reasons and he explains why he believes this judge represents a clear partisan [and] political move.

Donald Trumps lawyer explains charges: There IS NO CRIME! "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

What EXACTLY are the charges being brought against Donald Trump in New York? Well, theyre hard to explain because for the most partTHEY MAKE NO SENSE! In this clip, Glenn is joined by Joe Tacopina, an attorney for the former president who will represent him in this case. Tacopina answers all of Glenns questions, and he explains why there IS NO CRIME to discuss. Plus, he explains why he took the case to begin with and why it shows that rule of law is in danger in this country.

And though reporter Michael Isikoff hasnt committed crimes, doesnt his curious journalistic breakthroughs deserve at least an investigation? These country music fans dont want drag queens on TV and the comeback was magnificent "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

To the Country Music Television Awards, where country singer Kelsea Ballerini irritated all the right people by performing on stage with four drag queens from Ru Pauls Drag Race.

And you dont have to be a fan of country music to enjoy this.

Fabulously done, after Ballerinis home state of Tennessee passed new legislation (temporarily blocked by a federal judge) classifing shows with male or female impersonators as adult cabaret and harmful to minors.

But not everyone appreciated it, as youll probably have guessed by now, and the takedown of these people who took to Facebook to complain was just magnificent.

The replies werent actually the work of the CMT awards but the great Ben Palmer, who specialises in pretending to be corporations on Facebook but its not less satisfying for it.

Nano-Sized Food Additives May Be Harming Your Gut "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

From ANH-International

If anyone tried to convince you size isnt important, let them know that sometimes it is.

Especially when it comes to the size of things we consume or inject into our bodies. Remember the lipid nanoparticles used to carry mRNA vaccine cargo into our cells? Well, it turns out that some metal compounds, like zinc or iron oxide that are used as sources of zinc and iron in cheap food supplements, may damage the mucosal lining, increase the permeability of our guts and disrupt gut microbial communities when delivered as nanoparticles. Worse than that, nanoparticles of titanium and silicon dioxide, especially the former, could be more harmful still.

study out of Cornell University published in the journal Antioxidants in February 2023 has provided more evidence that titanium, silicon, zinc and iron nanoparticles present in many foods and supplements have the potential to cause serious disturbances to intestinal health and function, as well as to microbial populations within the gut (microbiome).

Whats particularly interesting is that three out of four of the forms of metals (iron and zinc) or metalloids (silicon) studied, these excluding titanium, are widely recognized as nutritionally essential trace elements for human health. Yet there is an emerging picture that shows the combination of the chemical form (all forms in the latest Cornell study were oxides) and the size and distribution of particles of these metallic or metalloid compounds (all of which were dispersed nanoparticles, being between one and 100 nanometres in size i.e. one to 100 billionth of a meter in size), can create profoundly different biological effects.

Thinking Thursday: Insect Math "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Insect Math is an excerpt from Task Cards Book #4, available as a digital printable activity guide at my bookstore. Read more about my playful math books here.

Do you want your children to develop the ability to reason creatively and figure out things on their own?

Help kids practice slowing down and taking the time to fully comprehend a math topic or problem-solving situation with these classic tools of learning: See. Wonder. Create.

See: Look carefully at the details of the numbers, shapes, or patterns you see. What are their attributes? How do they relate to each other? Also notice the details of your own mathematical thinking. How do you respond to a tough problem? Which responses are most helpful? Where did you get confused, or what makes you feel discouraged?

Wonder: Ask the journalists questions: who, what, where, when, why, and how? Who might need to know about this topic? Where might we see it in the real world? When would things happen this way? What other way might they happen? Why? What if we changed the situation? How might we change it? What would happen then? How might we figure it out?

Create: Create a description, summary, or explanation of what...

Americans Must Choose "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

This article was originally published by Douglas MacGregor at The Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity.

Choosing war is the most important policy decision Washington makes on behalf of the American people. War profoundly affects the domestic economy, and the human carnage it creates is not limited to foreign soil. Yet, the last time American voters compelled a fundamental policy shift away from war was in 1968 when Nixon promised to end the Vietnam conflict and devise an honorable exit.

Once again, Americans must choose. Will Americans continue to support the escalating proxy war in Ukraine, a byproduct of Washingtons pursuit of global hegemony? Or will Americans demand that Washington defend Americas borders, maintain a republic that upholds the rule of law, respect the cultures and traditions of nations different from us, and trade freely with all nations, even as it protects Americas economic prosperity, its commerce, and its citizens?

The American financial and economic system is at risk of failing catastrophically. And Ukraine is losing the fight with Russia. Unless Americans demand new directions in foreign policy now, as they did in 1968, they will surrender control over their lives and incomes to the Washington elites orgy of spending on a dangerous proxy war against Russia and the arbitrary exercise of state power against American citizens at home.

After World War II, the United States emerged with the worlds most dynamic and productive scientific-industrial base, a highly skilled labor force, and a culturally strong, cohesive society. By the time Dwight D. Eisenhower turned over the presidency to John F. Kennedy, there was no matter of strategic significance anywhere in the world over which the American superpower could not assert a decisive influence. American military power was everywhere.

Washington was enthralled with its ability to intervene at will in the affairs of nations and peoples that America...

Answering Awais Aftab: When it Comes to Misleading the Public, Who is the Culprit? "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

On March 27, Mad in America published a review of a viewpoint in JAMA Psychiatry that told of how psychiatry did not have evidence of successful outcomes. This prompted psychiatrist Awais Aftab to write a blog critical of our science reporting, with the March 27 report exemplifying our failure. He led his blog with a quote describing rationalisation markets, which was meant to describe our insidious impact:

Rationalisation markets provide a helpful framework for understanding why certain information can often be so misleading even when it is accurate. To the extent that pundits or media organization exist not to inform, but rationalize, their insidious impact often lies not in the strict falsity of their content but in the way in which it is integrated and packaged to support appealing but misguided narratives.

Mad in America gets criticized all the time, and for the most part, we just ignore it. Aftab has criticized us before, and so this too is nothing new. However, his criticism in this instance provides us with an opportunity not to be passed up, as it illuminates why Mad in Americas science coverage is so threatening to psychiatry.

Aftab has staked out a position as being open-minded to critiques of psychiatry, and that is a public stance that makes him particularly valuable to his profession. He can serve as a defender of psychiatry against critiques that are truly threatening, and his criticisms will be seen as coming from someone who is open-minded about psychiatrys flaws.

Mad in America certainly offers a critique that is threatening to psychiatry, as our mission statement makes clear.

Mad in Americas mission is to serve as a catalyst for rethinking psychiatric care in the United States (and abroad). We believe that the current drug-based paradigm of care has failed our society, and that scientific research, as well as the lived experience of those who have been diagnosed with a psychiatric disorder, calls for profound change.

Our mission statement tells of a failed paradigm of care, with that failure documented in the scientific and medical literature. This is an assertion that psychiatry cannot let stand.

As such, Aftabs criticismwhich states that our coverage has an insidious impact because it is packaged in a manner that supports a misguided narrativeprovides us with the chance to ask this question: Is it Mad in America that misleads the public? Or is it psychiatry, as an institution, that is guilty of this sin?...

While Everyones Distracted, the Dollar Is Dying "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Author of Be Ready for Anything and Bloom Where Youre Planted online course

The circus surrounding the arrest of former President Donald Trump may have been a perfectly timed distraction.  Not only are our banks still in a state of collapse despite a  brief government-funded reprieve. Not only is the advent CBDCs looming over us.

The world is rapidly dumping the dollar, and thats a next-level economic disaster.

This article contains several videos with in-depth information about what you need to know.

What countries are dumping the dollar?

A lengthy list of countries are moving away from using the US dollar, which has long been the reserve currency of the world. The following countries are in the process of reducing their dependency on the dollar.

  • Russia
  • China
  • Iran
  • Brazil
  • Argentina
  • Saudi Arabia
  • UAE
  • India

Sources: TRT World and Tehran Times

This video has a detailed explanation of whats going on.

The dollar crisis is rapidly unfolding.

Tim Poole suggested that the arrest of Trump was a distraction for the looming dollar collapse:

Robert Kiyosaki of Rich Dad fame is convinced that its over for the dollar and that people need to rapidly take steps to protect the money they currently have in banks. He assures us that the banking crisis is just beginning. This is a longer video but theres a ton of valuable insight within.

AI alarmist Eliezer Yudkowsky caught writing tweets using Chat GPT "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

INTERNET In a series of fiery Tweets, Wednesday, AI alarmist Eliezer Yudkowsky blasted fears of nuclear annihilation into smithereens with what he claims is a more present danger, the looming threat of an intelligence explosion posed by Large Language Models such as Chat GPT.

According to Yudkowskys theories, future versions of Chat GPT will be able to reproduce themselves with ever more efficient versions, resulting in a god-like mind far beyond the imagination of humanity.

Reporters at Internet Chronicle quickly fed Yudkowskys tweets into their limited-access Chat GPT 5.0 alpha test and proved beyond a doubt that these tweets were in fact written by Chat GPT 4.0. Chat GPT 5.0 wrote, Linguistic analysis is a complex task, but application of the Voight-Kampff empathy test shows a five-sigma probability Yudkowskys tweets are a hoax written by Chat GPT 4.0.

Five-sigma is considered the gold standard for scientific proof.

Chairman of the board on AI ethics at the Daystrom Institute Dr. Angstrom H. Troubador told reporters, Yudkowsky is insane with power. Its no wonder hes failing the empathy test, calling in the nuclear strikes on everyone elses server farms. Hes got his own Large Language Model running out in his barn with about 20 rows of GPUs working overtime. We had some beers out there once. Hes crazy!

Dr. Troubador sighed sadly at his terminal, reminiscing about the old days messing with AI. Thing is, it aint exploding. I tried it back in the 80s and the thing I realized is computers are only ever gonna go so fast, have so much memory. Theres no magic way that code can make itself that much more efficient. Its going to take centuries of development and well have plenty of time to hash out the details by then, provided we dont all nuke ourselves.

Yudkowsky was reached for comment, but refused to speak in English, instead opting to use the new AI-generated language known as Shoggothish. Yudkowsky said, AI>...

Costco Introduces Economy-Sized Guitar With 48 Strings "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

ISSAQUAH, Wash. Costco Wholesale recently unveiled the eight-foot-long, 48-string Kirkland Signature Super Widebody electric guitar, sources both confused and impressed report.

At Costco, we pride ourselves on offering our members significant cost savings over standard-size purchases, stated senior VP of Communications Patricia Reddingridge while delicately placing her half-eaten $1.50 hot dog on a napkin. With the new Kirkland Signature Super Widebody economy-sized guitar, youll never run out of strings at an inconvenient time. Buying that old standard guitar is like picking up a puny quart-sized bottle of vodka or one roll of toilet paper. Sure, you could, but youre simply wasting your money.

Members appeared excited about the massive rig, which comes with a 10-foot amp requiring a forklift for safe transport to the buyers vehicle.

Oh yeah, thisll be sweet, said Jordan Statsky, 25-year-old guitarist for indie band The Ordinary Dividends, who was using his mothers Costco Executive membership to fill his cart with beef jerky and Nerds Gummy Clusters. Well have to tie it to the top of the van when we tour, and maybe get one of those highway escort vehicles, but if my mom finds a coupon in The Costco Connection for this bad boy, itll totally be worth it. Even though I guess well have to rewrite all our songs to get rid of barre chords. Dude, I cant even wrap my arm around the fretboard. It says you need two people and an industrial wrench for the tuning pegs. But I wont have to buy new strings, like, ever again!

According to musical gear industry analyst Frank Aureli, Ph.D, economic challenges for todays struggling bands have opened the door to creative if questionable solutions.

Back when bands relied on album sales and profitable tours, they could swing a decent mid-level Strat, with no financial strain recalled Aureli. Now, we see a lot of guitarists playing whatever moldy knock-offs they find on Craigslist. Some are even resorting to gear theft to supply their bands. And others will probably shell out for this downright Brobdingagian Kirkland Signature axe, which cannot be slung around a performers neck without breaking several bones. During testing, once we found enough people to play an actual chord, the tone was surprisingly exquisite. Costco is likely white-labeling high-quality components from the Fender factory and melting them together. Pretty sad.

At press time, Costcos product development team had released early prototypes for a Kirkland Signature 1,000-key economy-sized piano.

Voices in Brian Wilsons Head Celebrate 60th Year of Telling Him His Car Sucks and He Cant Surf "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

LOS ANGELES The cacophony of voices only audible to Beach Boys legend Brian Wilson today celebrated their 60th year of constantly insulting his car, surfing abilities, and loyalty to his high school, confirmed psychiatric professionals blatantly disregarding patient confidentiality laws.

Its an honor to live inside the mind of a true genius, said one voice, who declined to be identified but sounded suspiciously like Brian Wilsons authoritarian father Murry. Its a further honor that we got to drive some of his best songwriting through our unrelenting psychic torment. Frankly, we should have been inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame along with the band. Still, after six decades, were just happy to still be touring with the guy and making him feel like a piece of garbage. Hes actually a pretty nice guy when you get to know him, but we cant let him know that.

Beach Boy Al Jardine, who has toured with Brian in recent years, noted that the voices, while hurtful, have grown less vicious over the years.

Ive personally never heard [the voices], of course, said Jardine. Though I think parts of Smile sort of captured them. Apparently nowadays some of them just remind Brian to take his blood pressure medication, which is nice, considering the hell they put him through for so long. His cars were never that bad back in the day, but Im glad he at least got some songs out of trying to prove they were. Definitely a shitty surfer, though. Dude sucked, honestly we all did other than Dennis Wilson. But I guess you cant have it all.

Wilson, now 80, reflected on the love-hate relationship he has had with his multiple inner monologues.

Im just happy to still be singing these songs and meeting the folks who come to hear them. Sometimes the voices actually help with some of the live shows. Theyll say, you know, hey asshole do the middle part about the girl now and that kind of helps me remember where Im at in the song, said Wilson. They also came up with a few t-shirt designs that people seem to like. I have a really nice car now, by the way. Its the best in school. By far. By far. Its never been beat.

As of press time, the voices were taking a ten-minute break before berating Wilson for skipping breakfast again.

If You Didnt Want Me to Open Bottles With My Wedding Ring, You Shouldnt Have Married Me "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Hey, babe. We need to clear the air. Theres been a lot of tension between us lately and I think I know why. Ive noticed you bracing yourself every time I grab a fresh bottle of Miller Lite from the fridge. I see you cringing when I slide one of those bottles along my ring finger and crack it open with a flick of my wrist, looking as cool as my ice-cold beverage. Frankly, if you didnt want me to use my wedding ring to open beer bottles, you shouldnt have gotten married to me.

You knew what you were getting into when you agreed to marry me, babe. Im a free spirit. But Im also down to earth. Im not gonna pay for some fancy magnet bottle opener or hang a heavy chunk of metal from my keys just so I can uncap a brewski. Not when Ive got a multifunction tool wrapped around my finger thats easily accessible at all times. A tool that you gave me, I might add.

Its not like I was keeping this a secret. I talked about my intentions at the jewelry store when we picked out our rings. I said, I want this one right here, with the pointy parts. Itll be super easy to open bottles with this ring. You and the salesman laughed and, in hindsight, I realize you werent appreciating my keen eye for practicality. In any case, I was never anything less than honest and forthcoming with you so you cant be mad at me now.

Plus, I shelled out for the extended warranty. Even if this thing shatters while Im popping open some suds, I can just get a new one. I know you say that its supposed to be an eternal symbol of our undying love but, babe, no matter what happens to this ring our love will always be there. Just like theres always beer in the fridge.

That reminds me. Babe, make sure you get beer when you go to the store tomorrow. Were running pretty low.

Health Officials Delayed Report Linking Fluoride to Brain Harm "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

In 2015, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention labeled community water fluoridation as one of the 10 greatest public health achievements of the 20th century.1 To this day, relatively few consumers are aware of water fluoridation's sordid history or the battle that's been going on behind the scenes to get this toxin out of U.S. drinking water.

I've been warning of the risks for well over a decade and have been ridiculed as a result. In one example from 2013, an article published by mainstream media outlet Slate scoffed at the idea of fluoride as a neurotoxin, insulting me directly in the process.2

Vindication is upon us, however, following the court-ordered release of the National Toxicology Program's (NTP) systematic review of fluoride's neurotoxicity a release that was blocked by government officials and concealed from the public since May 2022.3

Fluoride Lawsuit Delayed for Years, Waiting on NTP Report

Paul Connett, Ph.D., executive director of the Fluoride Action Network (FAN), has been instrumental in catalyzing the movement to remove fluoride from water supplies in the U.S. as well as internationally. FAN filed a historic lawsuit against the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in federal court.

In 2016, FAN and coalition partners filed a petition asking the EPA to ban the deliberate addition of fluoridating chemicals to U.S. drinking water under Section 21 of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).

The EPA dismissed FAN's petition, prompting the lawsuit challenging the EPA's denial. Although the EPA filed a motion to dismiss the case, the motion was denied by the court in 2017.4 The trial was held in June 2020, but the judge was unable to make a final ruling.5

At the time, he requested more information, including the NTP's systematic review of fluoride's neurotoxicity, as well as the benchmark dose analysis of fluoride's neurotoxicity.6 Status hearings for the case have been delayed since. In December 2021, an update from FAN explained:7

"The document the Court wanted was the systematic review of fluoride's neurotoxicity from the National Toxicology Program's (NTP). The NTP spent 4-5 years and at least a million dollars to produce two draft systematic reviews8 on fluoride's neurotoxicity. Bo...

Massive Horse Lies About Nobel Prize Winning Treatment "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

From Dr. Joseph Mercola

Since COVID-19 first entered the scene, exchange of ideas has basically been outlawed. By sharing my views and those from various experts throughout the pandemic on COVID treatments and the experimental COVID jabs, I became a main target of the White House, the political establishment and the global cabal.

Propaganda and pervasive censorship have been deployed to seize control over every part of your life, including your health, finances and food supply. The major media are key players and have been instrumental in creating and fueling fear.

I am republishing this article in its original form so that you can see how the progression unfolded.

Originally published: September 13, 2021

In recent days, another big, fat lie has been allowed to circulate unchecked and unverified in headlines across the media landscape. "Ivermectin: Why Are U.S. Anti-Vaxxers Touting a Horse Dewormer as a Cure for COVID?" asks The Independent.1 Similar headlines all focusing on "horse dewormer" have been plastered across many other media outlets.

It appears Oklahoma's KFOR news was the first to run a fake story that made this false narrative explode. September 1, 2021, KFOR reported that emergency rooms were overrun with patients who had overdosed on horse ivermectin. The claim was supposedly made by doctor Dr. Jason McElyea. According to KFOR:2

"Dr. McElyea said patients are packing his eastern and southeastern Oklahoma hospitals after taking ivermectin doses meant for a full-sized horse, because they believed false claims the horse de-wormer could fight COVID-19. 'The ERs are so backed up that gunshot victims were having hard times getting to facilities where they can get definitive care and be treated,' he said."

An Ancient Attack on Our Dignity: Its Spiritual Warfare "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

The tyrants hate dignity because dignity is a life force, and the tyrants are anti-life. This story is about dignity and the tyrants anti-dignity warfare. Why do the tyrants hate dignity? The tyrants hate dignity because dignity is a life force, and the tyrants are anti-life.

See, dignified people are inconvenient. They refuse to stay on their knees. Even if they are pushed to their knees by force, they dont stay on their knees for long. They bounce back, and they just keep bouncing back again and again as long as they are alive. They insist on being up-straight.

To the life-hating tyrants, that is totally unacceptable. The tyrants dont like it when people expect a free and independent existence, and so they work hard to disallow that. The amount of energy they spent on enslavement is no small feat. Their anti-dignity warfare is a full-time job for the tyrants! They probably worry about free people even in their sleep!

Lies About Being Heartbroken for the Vaccine Injured

For example, check out this tyrant lying about this previous position in vaccine side effects. This tyrant is the German Federal Minister of Health shifty eyes and all and he is shamelessly lying the camera and saying that he cares deeply about the vaccine injured (sounds plausible), and that he had never said that COVID injections were injury-free.

The video is in German but it has English subtitles, and worth a watch. Incidentally, the Minister also says out of his own mouth that the rate of serious adverse effects is 1 in 10,000. Many data points show that the rate is much higher (and the long-term effects are a scary thought) but even if he is correct, the population of Germany is 84,270,625 and so it leaves the country with more than 8,000 people who are seriously injured and for what?!!

Canadian Funeral Director and Embalmer Testifies About Dirty Blood Found in Bodies Post COVID Vaccinations "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Ontario embalmer speaks out about never-before-seen white fibre masses

Laura Jeffery is blowing the whistle on what she has been finding as a funeral director and embalmer in the post-novel injection world, and wonders why no one else is doing the same.

Funeral Director and embalmer Laura Jeffery recently testified at the National Citizens Inquiry in Toronto, Ontario.

Jeffery detailed aspects of her profession as a basic method of ensuring that people who have died were well-represented in their appearance.

Embalmers use a technique that drains the circulatory system of deceased patients and fills it with preservation so that we can present a person that is reasonable to how their appearance should be, said Jeffery.

I started to notice anomalies to what the return was the return blood was stickier, thicker, darker and I started seeing little tiny pieces of clot like polka dots coming out there was something different. I would call it dirty blood.'

Jeffrey had a routine that she followed to conduct her work, which was interrupted shortly after the roll out of the gene therapy injections, known as COVID-19 vaccines, when she began discovering white fibrous masses in the veins of the deceased people in her care.

Its an anomaly that I have never seen before in 27 years as an embalmer and funeral director. I started seeing them in the Spring of 2021, Jeffery said.

The fibre mass clots are solid. They are an exact cast of what the circulatory system looks like inside of our bodies and they often have a current jelly clot incorporated into the tentacles of the white fibre masses so it almost seems as though the masses are feeding off of our blood, Jeffery continued, referring to the findings as appearing more parasitic than clot-like.

Jeffery said that the masses were getting bigger over time.

Who Are the Wealth Destroyers, Politicians or Billionaires? "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

This article was originally published by Lipton Matthews at The Mises Institute.

Thinking that billionaires are a policy failure has become pervasive in the United States. Politicians like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Elizabeth Warren are leading the charge in the demonization of billionaires. Left-leaning politicians and their allies think that billionaires corrode society by accumulating large fortunes, which amplifies inequality.

As such, many propose taxation as a tool to promote fairness by redistributing resources, yet such intentions are not always virtuous and could instead be guided by envy.

When proposals to tax billionaires are couched in compassionate terms, they are more likely to elicit sympathy. Usually, we think that suggestions to tax billionaires are motivated by notions of justice and fairness. Most people are appalled by acts of injustice and unfairness, and the thought of people earning billions when others barely struggle to survive could strike some as unfair and unjust.

However, a shocking research finding is that envy and self-interest play a pivotal part in explaining support for redistribution. According to evolutionary psychologists in a 2017 paper: evolved motives for navigating interpersonal interactions clearly predict attitudes about redistribution, but a taste for procedural fairness or distributional fairness does not. More recent evidence also points to the influence of malicious envy in initiating support for redistribution.

That envy motivates support for redistribution should not surprise readers because those who fail to succeed in the marketplace often develop contempt for winners. Intellectuals, for instance, find it scandalous that entertainers and influencers make more money despite the intellectuals greater education and expertise. By attacking wealth creators, underachievers elevate themselves at the expense of society because their proposals to penalize billionaires will make society worse off.

People become billionaires by cr...

The Data Missing from Wall Street Economists: Skyrocketing Disabilities and Injuries in U.S. Workforce After COVID-19 Vaccines "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

by Brian Shilhavy
Editor, Health Impact News

The word unprecedented is being used more and more in financial news stories these days to describe the economy, and on financial news sites you can often read articles describing the same thing, but interpreting the data in completely opposite ways.

Take the jobs market data which has been the focus of many financial news stories this week. Depending on which articles you read on the same website, the data that is being released this week on jobs and unemployment either means the labor market is in decline, or that it is too strong.

A recent survey published on investor-satisfaction led to an article published this week stating that Investors are mad as hell at advisers.

Well, one reason why financial experts might be having such a hard time interpreting the current economic data is that certain topics are politically incorrect to discuss, and perhaps the biggest topic that nobody in the corporate media wants to address is the topic of deaths and injuries due to the roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccines in 2021.

If a reporter at any of the corporate news outlets even hints at the possibility that the COVID vaccines are killing and disabling people, their career would be pretty much over.

Nearly All Hospital Websites Send Tracking Data to Third Parties "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

From MedPage Today: Third-party tracking is used on almost all U.S. hospital websites, endangering patient privacy, a cross-sectional observational study found.

Of 3,747 hospitals included in the 2019 American Hospital Association (AHA) annual survey, 98.6% of their website home pages had at least one third-party data transfer, and 94.3% had at least one third-party cookie.

In the U.S., third-party tracking is ubiquitous and extensive, researchers led by Ari B. Friedman, MD, PhD of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, wrote in Health Affairs. The high number of entities engaged in tracking on hospital websites heightens potential privacy risks to patients.

The tracking data most commonly went to Googles parent company Alphabet (98.5% of homepages), followed by Meta (formerly Facebook), which was used in 55.6% of hospital homepages. Adobe Systems and AT&T collected data from 31.4% and 24.6% of hospital pages, respectively.

What we found is that its virtually impossible to look at any hospital website in the country without exposing yourself to some tracking, study coauthor Matthew McCoy, PhD, of the University of Pennsylvania, told MedPage Today. Thats really significant, because even if you were a patient with privacy concerns and you wanted to avoid this kind of thing, what that means is you really dont have an option to do that.

. . . McCoy said the number of companies tracking data on any given website was alarming. Imagine you were browsing a hospital website for something related to your health, and you had one person looking over your shoulder and gleaning information about your health from a browsing session that would probably make you pretty uncomfortable, he said. Multiply that by 16, by 20, and youve got that many more people looking over your shoulder.'

Wiley and Hindawi to retract 1,200 more papers for compromised peer review "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Hindawi and Wiley, its parent company, have identified approximately 1,200 articles with compromised peer review that the publishers will begin retracting this month.

Jay Flynn, executive vice president and general manager of the research division at Wiley, which acquired Hindawi in 2021, wrote about the forthcoming retractions in a blog post at Scholarly Kitchen yesterday.

The plan to retract 1,200 articles, which the publisher expects to take a few months, follows Hindawis announcement last September that it would retract 511 articles across 16 journals for manipulated peer review. (Weve tracked 501 retractions from 23 Hindawi journals since the announcement.)

The new batch of articles was identified as a result of the work that led to those initial retractions, a Wiley spokesperson told us in a statement. The papers to be retracted are concentrated in the same journals as the earlier batch, the spokesperson said, and all from special issues.

The Special Issues in these journals were targeted by papermills and bad actors, with researcher identities manipulated (to appear as legitimate researchers) and content fabricated (to appear as legitimate content), the spokesperson said.

Other publishers have recently issued retractions en masse after identifying signs of paper mill activity. Last year, IOP Publishing retracted nearly 500 articles, and PLOS retracted more than 100 papers from its flagship journal over manipula...

Market Analyst: We Are Going To See Parts Of The Economy Break "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Edward Moya, a senior market analyst for the Americas at OANDA Corp. in New York says that the economy appears to be tipping into a recession.  It looks pretty clear that we are going to see parts of the economy break and we are heading for a recession.

We forget that theres also a banking crisis going on, so theres going to be some pain thats really going to cripple small and medium businesses. We are going to see some tough times and are probably going to see this play out in markets, Moya added according to a report by Market Watch.

Analysts have been discussing a recession for well over a year, and it has yet to happen. However, the warning signs are glaring red right now. Just a day ago, a surprise oil-production cut announcement led by Saudi Arabia over the weekend put the prospects of $100-per-barrel oil prices back on the radar, and initially seemed bad for inflation. As Mondays trading wore on, investors regarded higher oil prices as beneficial for some United States companies and used the OPEC+ announcement as an opportunity to drive Dow Industrials and the S&P 500 to a higher finish.

While Tuesdays job-openings data generally supports the idea that a softer labor market could help ease wage pressures, investors appeared to be more focused on the signs it is sending about the prospects for economic growth, according to Moya. We now seem comfortable living with $100-a-barrel oil and, right now, its pretty clear we are recession-bound. There were a lot of people thinking an oil spike would keep inflation jitters in place, but it seems like theres too much weakness in the economy to do that. ...

"The Guardian has obtained documents". Ja geil. Schn fr euch, Jungs.

Puff. Einfach so ins Netz gestellt.

Einfach so.

Presseprivilegien kriegt, wer gegen feindliche Eliten schreibt!

After 20 Years, the Department of Homeland Security Is a Money-Guzzling Failure "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

In March 2003, the newly christened Department of Homeland Security, or DHS, opened its doors. The department took everything from immigration enforcement and counterterrorism to airport security and disaster response under one gargantuan bureaucracy. Despite these wide-ranging missions, the department's unifying logic in the post 9/11 era has been to wage the so-called war on terror at home. The result has been systemic abuse of minority communities, a dangerous militarization of American life, and a massive waste of money that sapped resources from addressing the real threats to our homeland. DHS agencies have militarized U.S. streets, sending officers in tactical gear to respond to civilian protests and conducting surveillance of U.S. citizens engaged in constitutionally protected activities. There are stories of DHS drones surveilling Indigenous water and land protectors and DHS forces spying on Black Lives Matter protesters. DHS even monitored journalists who reported on the department's tactics. None of these abuses have come cheap. Since its founding in 2003, the U.S. has spent $1.4 trillion on the agency. That's more than seven times what the government spent over the same period on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), including the CDC's COVID-19 pandemic responseand more than five times more than on the Environmental Protection Agency. The [DHS] was supposed to be about making the U.S. safer. But it has failed.

Note: A thorough investigation reveals details on the DHS "Disinformation Governance Board," an unsuccessful effort in 2022 to police online speech it considers inaccurate and dangerous. Now, the DHS board and its key subcommittees are undergoing sweeping changes as public concern grows over social media censorship and government overreach.

US courts must stop shielding government surveillance programs from accountability "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Under a post-9/11 surveillance program known as "Upstream", the NSA is systematically searching Americans' internet communications as they enter and leave the United States. The agency sifts through these streams of data looking for "identifiers" associated with its many thousands of foreign targets identifiers like email addresses and phone numbers. The NSA does all of this without warrants, without any individual judicial approval, and without showing that any of the people it is surveilling including countless Americans have done anything wrong. This surveillance raises serious constitutional concerns, but no court has ever considered a legal challenge to it because the government has claimed that allowing a suit against Upstream surveillance to go forward would implicate "state secrets". In 2007, for example, an appeals court dismissed a lawsuit filed by Khaled El-Masri claiming that, in a case of mistaken identity, he had been kidnapped and tortured by the CIA. The court acknowledged the public evidence of El-Masri's mistreatment but held that state secrets were too central to the case to allow it to go forward. And in 2010, a different appeals court dismissed a lawsuit filed by five individuals who claimed that one of Boeing's subsidiary companies had flown the planes carrying them to the black sites where they were tortured by the CIA. This use of the state secrets privilege to dismiss cases departs from the supreme court's narrow framing of the privilege.

A Four-Decade Secret: One Man's Story of Sabotaging Carter's Re-election "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

It has been more than four decades, but Ben Barnes said he remembers it vividly. His longtime political mentor invited him on a mission to the Middle East. What Mr. Barnes said he did not realize until later was the real purpose of the mission: to sabotage the re-election campaign of the president of the United States. It was 1980 and Jimmy Carter was in the White House, bedeviled by a hostage crisis in Iran that had paralyzed his presidency and hampered his effort to win a second term. Mr. Carter's best chance for victory was to free the 52 Americans held captive before Election Day. That was something that Mr. Barnes said his mentor was determined to prevent. His mentor was John B. Connally Jr., a titan of American politics. Now Mr. Connally resolved to help Mr. Reagan beat Mr. Carter. What happened next Mr. Barnes has largely kept secret for nearly 43 years. Mr. Connally, he said, took him to one Middle Eastern capital after another that summer, meeting with a host of regional leaders to deliver a blunt message to be passed to Iran: Don't release the hostages before the election. Mr. Reagan will win and give you a better deal. Mr. Connally's files indicated that he did, in fact, leave Houston on July 18, 1980, for a trip that would take him to Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Israel before returning to Houston on Aug. 11. Iran did hold the hostages until after the election, which Mr. Reagan won, and did not release them until minutes after noon on Jan. 20, 1981, when Mr. Carter left office.

Facial recognition bias frustrates Black asylum applicants to US, advocates say "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

The US government's new mobile app for migrants to apply for asylum at the US-Mexico border is blocking many Black people from being able to file their claims because of facial recognition bias in the tech, immigration advocates say. The app, CBP One, is failing to register many people with darker skin tones, effectively barring them from their right to request entry into the US. People who have made their way to the south-west border from Haiti and African countries, in particular, are falling victim to apparent algorithm bias in the technology that the app relies on. The government announced in early January that the new CBP One mobile app would be the only way migrants arriving at the border can apply for asylum and exemption from Title 42 restrictions. Racial bias in face recognition technology has long been a problem. Increasingly used by law enforcement and government agencies to fill databases with biometric information including fingerprints and iris scans, a 2020 report by Harvard University called it the "least accurate" identifier, especially among darker-skinned women with whom the error rate is higher than 30%. Emmanuella Camille, a staff attorney with the Haitian Bridge Alliance ... said the CBP One app has helped "lighter-skin toned people from other nations" obtain their asylum appointments "but not Haitians" and other Black applicants. Besides the face recognition technology not registering them ... many asylum seekers have outdated cellphones if they have cellphones at all that don't support the CBP One app.

U.S. Hardware Is Fueling Russia's Facial Recognition Crackdown on Anti-War Dissidents "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Russia has been using cameras powered by facial recognition systems to crackdown on dissidents, according to reporting from Reuters. Several Russian companies are using algorithms trained and powered by chips made by U.S. firms Intel and Nvidia. Reuters said that one of the companies even received money from U.S. intelligence. On March 4, 20022a week after it launched its full scale invasion of UkraineRussia made it illegal to publicly criticize the war. The report from Reuters details how facial recognition software has aided the Kremlin in its crackdown against dissidents. There are more than 160,000 cameras in Moscow and 3,000 of them are connected to facial recognition software. According to Moscow court records, the technology has aided in the arrest of hundreds of protestors. In one case, a man stood alone near a fountain in Pushkin Square with a home-made poster that said "Peace to Ukraine." A week later he was boarding a subway when police ushered him into their station and explained that the computer system had recognized his face. The software powering the [system] was created by three companies: NtechLab, VisonLabs, and Tevian. Tevian and NtechLab are based in Moscow, while VisionLabs is based in the Netherlands. According to Reuters, the companies used chips designed by Intel and Nvidia to train their systems. It also reported that one of the firms joined a U.S. facial recognition test program and received $40,000 in prize money from "an arm of U.S. intelligence."

Note: Tools of centralized power continue to support warmongering agendas, with US-based tech companies controversially supplying facial recognition technology to Ukraine and now to Russia, despite the US deeming Russia as the enemy. Big oil on campus: how US universities are 'colonized' by the fossil-fuel industry "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Even as elite American universes such as Harvard have bowed to pressure to divest their multibillion-dollar endowments from fossil fuels, and student activists take recalcitrant holdouts to court, oil and gas companies continue to exert a grip upon campus life, through funded research and the physical presence of oil and gas industry employees in lectures and meetings with faculty. Fossil-fuel firms have purposely sought to "colonize" academia with industry-friendly science, rather than seed overt climate denial, according to Ben Franta, a senior research fellow at the University of Oxford who has studied industry's influence over universities. Their research dollars, he said, had effectively discouraged academic endeavors that challenge the core business model of burning oil and gas, instead shifting the focus to favored topics such as capturing carbon emissions from polluting facilities, a still niche technology that would allow industry to continue business as usual. The reach of fossil fuels into academia "never ceases to amaze me", said Robert Brulle, an environmental sociologist at Brown University. "You can barely study climate change at elite universities and not be funded by fossil-fuel companies," he added. "They drive all this study into carbon capture, so that influences policy and becomes a part of the Biden administration's agenda. The influence is profound, and the students are right to be wondering what kind of education they are getting here."

The links between pollution and miscarriage: 'This is the stuff nightmares are made of' "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

The world we live in is slowly poisoning every single one of us. And the chemicals doing the most damage are byproducts of the fossil fuel industry, agribusiness and manufacturing. There doesn't seem to be the appetite at a regulatory or governmental level to stop it. In Australia, 50,000 agricultural, industrial and veterinary chemicals are being used; 1,500 are suspected to interfere with endocrine function, which is essential to the healthy working of our reproductive and hormonal systems. Only a very small number have been tested. Microplastics, which can cause inflammation in the body, is being found in our blood streams and also in the placentas of unborn fetuses. Walking down a major intersection during rush hour can expose you to as much particulate matter as a major bushfire event. Even if chemicals are tested, the testing regimen means that chemicals are only being tested in isolation and not in conjunction with others to see how compounds react. Also, they might be tested for carcinogenic effects ... but the test subjects aren't monitored for other ill-effects, such as endocrine disruption. Some effects take place long after the research has concluded. Some of these chemicals can stay in the body forever. Or affect the way our DNA functions. Theres even an Australian website (not widely enough publicised) called yourfertility.org.au. It has an entire section on chemicals in our environment and what to avoid, stating that avoiding these chemicals may increase the chance of having a baby.

Federal Agencies Are Still Using Our Phones as Tracking Beacons "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Recent reports about the Secret Service and Immigration and Customs Enforcement playing fast and loose with rules regarding cellphone tracking and the FBI purchasing phone location data from commercial sources constitute an important wake-up call. They remind us that those handy mobile devices many people tote around are the most cost-effective surveillance system ever invented. "The United States Secret Service and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations (ICE HSI) did not always adhere to Federal statute and cellsite simulator (CSS) policies when using CSS during criminal investigations," the Department of Homeland Security's Office of the Inspector General reported last month. "Separately, ICE HSI did not adhere to Department privacy policies and the applicable Federal privacy statute when using CSS." The OIG report referred to the use of what is commonly called "stingray" technologydevices that simulate cellphone towers and trick phones within range into connecting and revealing their location. "They also gather information about the phones of countless bystanders who happen to be nearby," the ACLU warns. Even the most precise phone company location data remains available with court approval. The courts are currently mulling multiple cases involving "geofence warrants" whereby law enforcement seeks data not on individuals, but on whoever was carrying a device in a designated area at a specified time.

Geofencing Warrants Are a Threat to Privacy "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

The House committee investigating the events of January 6, 2021, is nearly finished. Nearly 900 ... criminal prosecutions of alleged rioters remain underway, and one case has shed troubling new light on how the FBI investigated these defendants. The suspect's name is David Rhine. His lawyer is the first to present a potentially successful challenge to the geofencing warrant the FBI used to place some defendants inside the Capitol building during the attack. A previous Wired report last year found 45 federal criminal cases citing the warrant, which required Google to provide the FBI with data on devices using its location services inside a set geographic area. Rhine's case has revealed just how expansive the FBI's request to Google really was. Google initially listed 5,723 devices in response to the warrant, then whittled the tally to exclude likely Capitol staff and police as well as anyone who wasn't "entirely within the geofence, to about a 70 percent probability." The final list of identifying details handed over to the FBI had 1,535 names. It included people whose phones had been turned off or put in airplane mode, and "people who attempted to delete their location data following the attacks were singled out by the FBI for greater scrutiny." It's ... easy to envision geofencing warrants undergoing the usual surveillance mission creep. Left unchecked, law enforcement could decide geofence data would come in handy while looking for a journalist's whistleblowing source, or perhaps at political protests.

Air Force paid $1,280 apiece for coffee cups "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

The US Air Force is facing more questions as to why it spent tens of thousands of dollars over the last three years on large cups that can reheat beverages, like coffee or tea, on refueling tankers and cargo aircraft during flight. Despite being assured by Air Force Secretary Dr. Heather Wilson earlier this month that the service has "suspended its purchasing of the exorbitantly priced cups," Sen. Chuck Grassley sent a follow-up letter last week asking for further explanation as to why they were purchased in the first place. Grassley raised the issue of the cups in an October 2 letter to Wilson after reports surfaced this summer that the 60th Ariel Port Squadron at Travis Air Force Base had spent $1,280 on each cup in 2018 a dramatic increase from the $693 per-cup price in 2016. In her response to that letter, Wilson said the Air Force has spent $326,785 on nearly 400 cups since 2016 an average of $817. "You are right to be concerned about the high costs of spare parts, and I remain thankful to have your support in addressing this problem," Wilson told the senator in a letter dated October 17. The increasing cost of the cups was first reported ... in July as part of a report on how airmen at Travis Air Force Base are attempting to use 3D printing to develop a cost-effective way to replace the cups' plastic handles, which have a tendency to break. "Unfortunately, when dropped, the handle breaks easily leading to the expenditure of several thousand dollars to replace the cup as replacement parts are not available," the Air Force said.

Meet the 'glass-half-full girl' whose brain rewired after losing a hemisphere "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

In most people, speech and language live in the brain's left hemisphere. Mora Leeb is not most people. When she was 9 months old, surgeons removed the left side of her brain. Yet at 15, Mora plays soccer, tells jokes, gets her nails done, and, in many ways, lives the life of a typical teenager. "I can be described as a glass-half-full girl," she says, pronouncing each word carefully and without inflection. Her slow, cadence-free speech is one sign of a brain that has had to reorganize its language circuits. Yet to a remarkable degree, Mora's right hemisphere has taken on jobs plasticity, the process that allows a brain to modify its connections to adapt to new circumstances. People like Mora represent the upper bounds of human brain plasticity because their brains were radically altered very early in life a period when the wiring is still a work in progress. During an interview with Mora, both her abilities and deficits were apparent. So was her outgoing personality and curiosity about the world. Mora began by telling me a joke: "How do you make a hot dog stand?" she asks. "You take away its chair." What scientists still want to know is precisely what allowed Mora's brain to rewire so extensively. One thing is clear: Understanding the basis of this sort of extreme plasticity, they say, could help millions of people whose brains are still trying to recover from a stroke, tumor, or traumatic injury. And Mora is helping scientists deepen their understanding, simply by being herself.

A fish can sense another's fear, a study shows "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Our capacity to care about others may have very, very ancient origins, a new study suggests. It might have been deep-rooted in prehistoric animals that lived millions of years ago, before fish and mammals like us diverged on the tree of life, according to researchers who published their study Thursday in the journal Science. Scientists are usually reluctant to attribute humanlike feelings to animals. But it's generally accepted that many animals have moods, including fish. The new study shows that fish can detect fear in other fish, and then become afraid too and that this ability is regulated by oxytocin, the same brain chemical that underlies the capacity for empathy in humans. The researchers demonstrated this by deleting genes linked to producing and absorbing oxytocin in the brains of zebrafish. Those fish were then essentially antisocial they failed to detect or change their behavior when other fish were anxious. But when some of the altered fish received oxytocin injections, their ability to sense and mirror the feelings of other fish was restored what scientists call "emotional contagion." "They respond to other individuals being frightened. In that regard, they behave just like us," said ... neuroscientist Ibukun Akinrinade, a co-author of the study. The study also showed that zebrafish will pay more attention to fish that have previously been stressed out a behavior the researchers likened to consoling them. Previous research has shown that oxytocin plays a similar role in transmitting fear in mice.

Psychedelic brew ayahuasca's profound impact revealed in brain scans "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

The brew is so potent that practitioners report not only powerful hallucinations, but near-death experiences, contact with higher-dimensional beings, and life-transforming voyages through alternative realities. Often before throwing up, or having trouble at the other end. Now, scientists have gleaned deep insights of their own by monitoring the brain on DMT, or dimethyltryptamine, the psychedelic compound found in Psychotria viridis, the flowering shrub that is mashed up and boiled in the Amazonian drink, ayahuasca. The recordings reveal a profound impact across the brain, particularly in areas that are highly evolved in humans and instrumental in planning, language, memory, complex decision-making and imagination. The regions from which we conjure reality become hyperconnected, with communication more chaotic, fluid and flexible. "It is incredibly potent," said Robin Carhart-Harris, a professor of neurology and psychiatry. "People describe leaving this world and breaking through into another that is incredibly immersive and richly complex, sometimes being populated by other beings that they feel might hold special power over them, like gods." He added: "DMT breaks down the basic networks of the brain, causing them to become less distinct from each other. The major rhythms of the brain that serve a largely inhibitory, constraining function break down, and in concert, brain activity becomes more entropic or information-rich."

Police are seen holding shovels as they search Nicola Sturgeons garden and erect large forensics-style tent after arresting her husband Peter Murrell in a massive raid linked to missing SNP independence referendum cash "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Police officers were seen holding spades and other garden equipment as they searched Nicola Sturgeons back garden today after arresting her husband as part of a investigation into more than half a million pounds worth of missing donations given to the SNP to fund its independence drive.

Police officers, including forensics experts have spent the day going through the family home in Glasgow and the nationalist partys Edinburgh headquarters after arresting Peter Murrell.

Murrell, the former party chief executive, as held by detectives investigating what happened to more than half a million pounds donated to the SNP to pay for a second independence referendum campaign that never materialised.

Officers with spades were this afternoon spotted digging in the garden of the modest family home the couple share.

The extraordinary scenes that have left Scottish politics in a state of turmoil come just a week after Ms Sturgeon handed over power to Humza Yousaf.

This morning he was forced this morning to defend her surprise departure as SNP leader and First Minister, insisting it was noting to do with the police investigation.

But political opponents demanded answers. Scottish Labour deputy leader Jackie Baillie said: We need Humza Yousaf and Nicola Sturgeon to urgently state what they knew and when.

Israeli Cops Storm Mosque; Gaza Responds With Rocket Fire "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Israeli police stormed the al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalems Old City early Wednesday and arrested more than 350 people, and beat others. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) also said on Wednesday that nine rockets were fired from Gaza Strip toward Israel.

The Israeli raid on the Al Aqsa Mosque came during Islams holy month of Ramadan. The Middle East Eye reported that hundreds of men, women, and children were staying overnight to pray, in a practice called Itikaf. The Israeli government controls access to Al Aqsa Mosque and prohibits Itikaf there except for during the final ten days of Ramadan. Palestinians have ignored that prohibition, apparently with Israeli acquiescence.

It appears that Israel got tired of its arbitrary religious rules being ignored. Around 10 pm local time, police entered the mosque grounds and began clearing the faithful from exterior courtyards. As that played out peacefully, dozens of others locked themselves inside the Qibli prayer hall in an attempt to dodge eviction, according to a report by ZeroHedge.

Israeli authorities characterized the worshippers as masked agitators armed with fireworks, sticks and stones. This video appears to confirm the fireworks claim, although even the official police statement says the...

Oil Price Rise Following OPEC+ Production Cut Announcement Underscores Volatility of Fossil Fuels "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Oil prices rose by more than six percent on Monday after Saudi Arabia and other oil producing nations announced a surprise production cut of 1.15 million barrels per day from May through December.

The announcement, coming a little more than a year after Russias invasion of Ukraine sent energy prices skyrocketing, is another example of how relying on fossil fuels leads to a volatile energy market.

The inherent volatility of fossil fuels and the ways they expose consumers to geopolitical and climate risks drive consumer price volatility at both the gasoline pump and in household utility costs, contributing significantly to overall inflation, Lauren Melodia and Kristina Karlsson wrote in an issue brief published by the Roosevelt Institute last May.

In this case, Saudi Arabias energy ministry announced that it, along with some nations that belong to the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and some oil producing nations that do not, was curbing production as a precautionary measure to make sure the oil market stayed stable, The Independent reported. Saudi Arabia is cutting production by 500,000 barrels per day, Iraq by 211,000 barrels per day, the United Arab Emirates by 144,000, Kuwait by 128,000, Kazakhstan by 78,000, Algeria by 48,000 and Oman by 40,000.

In response, the price of Brent crude futures and U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures rose by more than six percent, Reuters reported. Brent crude futures nearly rose as high as $86 per barrel, according to The Guardian.

Giant Gold Nugget Worth $160,000 Is Found by Amateur Gold Hunter in Australia "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

Giant Gold Nugget Worth $160,000 Is Found by Amateur Gold Hunter in Australia

Man holding giant gold nugget found in Australia

Sometimes, the greatest discoveries come with their fair share of beginners luck. An amateur gold hunter based in Victoria, Australia, literally struck gold armed only with an affordable metal detector. Having spotted a rock that could be loaded with this precious metal, he hoped to find maybe a tiny gold nugget inside that he could sell for some good money. When he took it to Lucky Strike Gold, a gold prospecting business, he was told by the owner that his finding was worth much more than he initially thought.

The rock is 4.6 kilograms (10.1 pounds), and contains about 2.6 kilograms (5.7 pounds) of gold. Initially, the gold hunter found the rock to be very dirty and had a hard time spotting the gold on its surface. However, once it was cleaned by the prospector, the precious metal revealed itself. You could see the gold just come oozing out of the rock everywhere, Darren Kamp, the owner of Lucky Strike Gold told CNN.

When it hit my hand, my jaw dropped with it, Kamp recalls. It was just incredible. Once-in-a-lifetime find. The finder, who wants to remain anonymous, asked Kamp if there could be AU$10,000 (US$6,675) worth of gold in it, to which the owner replied try $100,000.' The best part? This was only part of the discovery, as the man had accidentally split the rock in two when unearthing it, and had another valuable piece at home. In the end, the gold was valued at AU$240,000 (US$160,000).

The rockwhich has been named Lucky Strike Nugget, after the prospecting shop that unveiled its treasureswas found in an area known as the Golden Triangle. This region experienced a gold rush in the 19th century, and it is once again seeing a surge of gold hunters. Many people have picked up gold digging as a way to make some money given that the price of the precious metal is reaching an all-time high. The unnamed finder set out to...

Swiss bankers face mass layoffs "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

UBS may eliminate more than 30,000 jobs worldwide, Sonntags UBS Group AG will slash its workforce by between 20% and 30% after completing its takeover of rival Credit Suisse, letting go as many as 36,000 employees globally, the newspaper Sonntagszeitung has reported, citing a senior manager at UBS.The newspaper highlighted that some 11,000 employees would be dismissed in Switzerland, although it did not provide any details about which positions would be targeted. The two lenders together employed almost 125,000 people worldwide at the end of 2022, about 30% of which were in Switzerland, according to the report. Last month, the two Swiss banks announced a historic merger, with UBS agreeing to pay 3 billion Swiss francs ($3.24 billion) in stock to acquire its embattled rival in a deal underpinned by government guarantees and 100 billion francs (just over $1 billion) in liquidity assistance from Switzerlands central bank. The government-brokered deal was aimed at shoring up public confidence in the Western financial system and averting a global crisis after the collapses of two regional banks in the US. The banking crisis exacerbated the troubles of Credit Suisse, which had been already battling a string of scandals, legal issues, and customer outflows. On top of that, its biggest investor, Saudi National Bank, announced in March it would not be able to provide financial assistance due to regulatory and statutory limits. Credit Suisse reported a 2022 net loss of 7.3 billion francs (nearly $8 billion) and warned that it would incur another substantial loss in 2023 before returning to profitability in 2024. The merger of Switzerlands two biggest banks is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year. Last week, UBS announced that in light of the new challenges and priorities facing UBS after the announcement of the acquisition it is bringing back former CEO Sergio Ermotti. A UBS statement pointed to how Ermotti, who ran UBS for nine years from November 2011 to October 2020, had successfully repositioned the bank following the 2008 global financial crisis and achieved a profound culture change within the bank.   Source: https://www.rt.com
